What had she learned through all these years, to step back and hide?

Hide.

Hide the power she had, had she no pride? Padma Patil always thought Charms were useless.

Anyone could do it.

Could anyone really do it? Was it that easy of a subject for her to think it was too easy?

Or that anyone could do it?

Did she really have that kind of power to be able to hold the pride of being one of the masters at Charms, but to have never realized it?

Hiding from the fray that stormed outside, she gripped her wand tighter to her chest.

They're useless. This is your conscience Padma. You know Charms are useless spells. Only the hopeless cannot control inferior power.

Only the hopeless.

"This isn't my conscience," she muttered.

Is this why Charms was your favorite subject Padma; because it was one of those subjects that were easy? And that anyone could do?

"It's because I'm powerful at them," Padma said out loud.

Padma whipped her wand away from her chest and put it up to her face, staring at the burning horizon that was Hogwarts from over the tip.

This is you speaking Padma. Do you not realize you think anyone could do Charms because you are so brilliant at them?

You are one of the masters at Charms.

"Not just anyone can do it," Padma spoke in hoarse, deadly whisper as she lowered her wand, and stared out from behind the trees where she was,

Hiding.

Hiding her talent, hiding her power.

But you're one of the masters.

She took in a breath. If she were to die at the hands of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters,

So be it.
