Chapter two

They set off through the forest and into the town. Lori took her picnic basket with her where her Granny's secret recipe book is. Once they gone pass the town they reached Granny's house. Lori knocked on the door. The door opened and inside was Granny.

"Lori! Sarah! It's good to see you again!" said Granny.

"Hi Granny" said Lori and Sarah as they hugged her.

"Granny?" asked Morgan looking confused.

"Oh…yes, we call her Granny" explained Lori.

"You must be Lori and Sarah's friends" said Granny looking at Morgan, Eddie, Bethia and Peckham."You can call me Granny, a lot of people call me that".

"Well, it's nice to meet you Granny" said Morgan feeling a bit awkward. Everyone laughed.

"It's nice to meet you" said Eddie then Bethia. Then Peckham licked Granny's face to greet her.

"Granny, this is Morgan, Eddie, Bethia and Morgan's dog Peckham" said Lori introducing them to Granny.

"Nice to meet you all" said Granny.

"Listen Granny, we thought you could tell them about your secret recipe book" asked Sarah as Lori gave the recipe book to Granny.

"Ah, so they now know huh?" asked Granny.

"Yes and I'm sure they won't tell anyone will you guys?" asked Sarah. The others nodded in agreement.

"Alright then, let me show you how it started" said Granny. And they all walked to the kitchen.

"Started?"Bethia whispered to Eddie on the way. Eddie shrugged his shoulders. He had no idea.

Once they reach the kitchen they saw photos and pictures around the walls of the kitchen. The photo and pictures only had girls, no boys.

"Wow!" said Morgan, Eddie and Bethia in amazement. Peckham barked and jumped with excitement. Then Morgan decided to ask a question.

"How do you remember all these recipes?" he asked.

"They're all right here in this book" said Granny patting on the recipe book. "Every recipe here comes from the Pocket family and their extended family, generation after generation". Granny pointed out to a photo on the wall. "See? Now, there Sylvia Pocket at the North Pole. She found the best hot chocolate in the world there". Granny continued on to the next photo. "Then there's Emma Pocket. She flew cheesecakes across the Atlantic". Then Granny pointed and spoke on behalf of all the photos, pictures and drawings as they looked. "Oh, for as long as critters have had a sweet tooth, Pockets have been making and collecting recipes all over the world, refining them, giving that special Pocket touch". Then they saw the last two photos on the wall and they suddenly know who they were. The second last photo was a picture of Granny when she was a bit young then she is now. The last photo was a picture of Lori's mother, Sarah's mother and their aunt. It was Anna, Melodie and Scarlet. "I'm surprised that you recognise those people in those two photos" said Granny. Then they saw an empty space on the wall next to the last photo.

"Hey, how come there's an empty space in there?" asked Eddie.

"Ah yes, that space is for Sarah and Lori to put up their photo of them and the recipe they made" explained Granny. "They haven't made a recipe yet but they will soon plus it's their turn to create a recipe and carry on the tradition".

"Wow! That sounds amazing" said Morgan. Lori and Sarah looked at each other happily.

Minutes went by as Granny continued explaining about her recipe book to the others in the living room and then she was done.

"Sounds fascinating" said Eddie.

"Yes, it is" said Granny. "And…I have something to give you all. I'll be back" said Granny as she left the living room. Everyone waited for Granny to come back.

"Now close your eyes and cover Peckham's eyes, Morgan!" Granny called from the kitchen. Everyone closed their eyes and Morgan covered Peckham's eyes. Granny came to the living room and laid out her surprise on the coffee table. "OK now, you can open your eyes" said Granny. And everyone opened their eyes and Morgan let go of covering Peckham's eyes. On the table were some colourful hoods with name tags on them. There was even one for Peckham even though he was a dog. Their hoods were the colours of their favourite. Morgan's hood was green, Eddie's hood was blue, Bethia's hood was pink, Sarah's hood was also pink, Peckham's hood was also blue and Lori's hood was red. Everyone gazed at amazement as they held up their hoods and Peckham just jumped around with excitement while barking. "Sorry Lori. I couldn't find any orange fabric at the shops" said Granny. Lori's favourite colour was orange.

"That's okay, I like this colour better for my hood" said Lori holding up and looking at her hood.

"Hey Lori, do you know what this means?" asked Sarah.

"No, what?" asked Lori.

"If you wore that hood you could be little red riding hood" explained Sarah. "You know some of the stories of little red riding hood and those girls have brown hair, well…you do too". Lori laughed.

"I'm not little red riding hood, although I can be" she said. And everyone else laughed.

"I can't believe you made one for Peckham" said Morgan looking at Granny. "I think he likes it".

"That's wonderful and let me tell you something" said Granny. "If you're up in the air while wearing the hood untie the strings that is surrounding your neck, let the wind carry the hood and you'll be flying up high in the air but only for a while because you'll be landing on the ground. So that's why you should attach the strings to your clothes all the time when you put on the hood".

"No way!" said Morgan amazed.

"It actually will" said Granny. "And Lori, Sarah?" she continued. "When you two put the hood on you carry on a grand tradition. It's a big job making the world stay sweet". Everyone laughed happily.

"Thank you, Granny" said Lori.

"Yes, thank you" said Sarah.

Everyone else said thank you and Peckham barked.

"You're welcome" said Granny.

"Hey, we still have to go to Granny's shop to take a look at the place" said Lori.

"Yes, the shop will close soon so we'll have to hurry" said Sarah.

"OK, well it was nice meeting you and seeing you too" said Granny looking at Morgan, Eddie, Bethia and Peckham then Lori and Sarah. Then she grabbed the recipe book from the coffee table. "Take the recipe book to my shop when you get there. Anna and Melodie will know what to do with it". Lori took the book from Granny and put it in her basket.

"Let's go" said Morgan as he grabbed his hood and Peckham's. The others also grabbed their hoods and Lori also grabbed her picnic basket. Morgan opened the door and went out with the others.

"Goodbye" said Lori and the others.

"Goodbye" said Granny. And they went off to Granny's shop. Not realising that someone was spying on them and it was Lisa. Lisa and the others somehow escaped from prison and now Lisa was spying on them on the right side of Granny's house outside and she finally knows what to do. She grabbed her small black microphone from her pocket, hooked it onto her ear, turned it on and spoke into her microphone.

"LX to BX, this is LX" said Lisa. "I got them". And she sprinted into the woods.

Lori and the others arrived at Granny's shop. The shop was called "The Goody House". The sign said it's closed.

"Don't worry. We can still go in" said Lori. And she opened the door. Inside the shop were Anna and Melodie. In the shop were all kinds of things like Granny's sweets, cakes, muffins, tins and even a Granny's mask and apron. Where the counter was, there was picture of Granny in a frame on the wall.

"Lori!" said Anna.

"Sarah!" said Melodie.

Hey mum" said Lori and Sarah to their mothers.

"I thought that you were customers but I was wrong" said Anna. Everybody laughed and Anna spoke again. "It's nice of you and your friends to drop by".

"Hi Anna, hi Melodie" said Morgan, Eddie and Bethia. Peckham jumped up and down barking.

"Wow, the shop is pretty amazing" said Bethia.

"Yes, it is" said Melodie.

"Mum, we stopped by Granny's house today and she told us about her recipe book" said Lori.

"Really?" asked Anna.

"Yes and she also gave us these hoods" said Lori showing her hood. The others did the same thing.

"Wow, they're amazing" said Anna.

"Yes, they're incredible" said Melodie.

"Peckham has one too" said Morgan showing Peckham's hood.

"Wow" said Anna.

"Mum? Aunt Melodie? Is it okay if we can look around the shop?" asked Lori.

"Sure" said Anna.

"We were just packing up but you can still look around" said Melodie.

"Thanks" said Lori.

So Lori and the others looked around the shop. Then Eddie grabbed his watch from his pocket on looked at the time.

"It's getting late" said Eddie. "We should head back now".

"Just one more thing" said Lori. "Granny said you know what to do with her recipe book" and she gave the book to her mother.

"Ah, I bet she wants to keep it safe in the shop's secret hiding place" said Anna.

"And where would the secret hiding place be?" asked Eddie.

"Its right here" said Melodie as Anna opened the picture frame of Granny and it turned out to be a vault.

"So that's where you keep the book safe" said Eddie.

"Yes" said Anna. "Just promise us you won't tell anybody about the secret hiding place".

"We promise" said Morgan.

"Defiantly" said Eddie.

"Promise" said Bethia.

"OK, now we can go" said Lori. Then she and the others headed out to the door.

"I'll see you tonight, Lori" said Anna.

"And you too, Sarah" said Melodie.

"Bye" said Lori and the others.

And they set off to the depot.
