A/N: Please keep in mind that I wrote this in 8th grade and looking back, it's not as good as I thought it was.
I do not own the Earth's Children series. I love reading it though =)
Last night I dreamt that I was a black wolf.
I lived in a dense forest. My home was next to a wide-open plane in Europe during the Ice Age. There were many trees surrounding my den. Unlike many wolves I did not live with a pack. I was a loner because I was different.
I met another loner, a male. I was in heat during the wrong season and had puppies, he died shortly after and I was left starving with three puppies. Soon after he died two of our pups did too. I had to feed myself and the pup that had survived. I had sniffed out some ermine, a weasel like creature, and found several. I detected the human smell on them but I knew they were fresh. I was starving. I snatched one away from the pile and ran. I didn't get very far before I was hit in the head by a woman with flying stones. I dropped dead.
My spirit took over the woman's body and I knew we had to get back to my den to see if my pup was still alive. He was and she took him home with her as if she knew me and was like an aunt to the pup she named Wolf. I felt my spirit leave her body, my pup was alive and I knew he was safe.
