Wander walked through the lush woods, his trusty steed right beside him. The horse neighed crossly. It was early morning and the horse needed rest. Many lizards slithered by, frightening Agro constantly. Wander rolled his eyes at her immaturity. He halted as he came across a sly rabbit. He steadied his arrow at the innocent creature. Agro looks at the boy, glaring with her dark brown eyes. She huffs impatiently.
"Agro, you really didn't have to come." He said humor laced in his voice. She neighed angrily as her mouth hung open. He woke her up and ordered her to come with him. The boy laughed, seeing her annoyed expression.
"We meet again." Said a familiar voice. His eyes darted up, Mono stood there in a beautiful white satin dress. He stood up quickly, putting his bow and arrow away. She beamed.
"Hello." He greeted, bowing his head. She bowed courteously and looked at the horse. She was still quite upset.
"Hello to you." She waved to the horse. Agro stiffened, looking the other way. Wander laughed nervously.
"She's a bit grouchy in the mornings. Forgive her." He explains coolly. She nods, understandingly.
"Perhaps you shouldn't wake her so early then." A sly smirk appears on her face. Wander bites his lip, mentally punching himself.
She crouched, examining the white rabbit. Her slender fingers run through its fur, gentle as possible. Wander watched intently, finding imminent peace in her company.
"May I ask what you're doing this early?"
"I can ask you the same." Her retort is playful, like her golden eyes. He scratches his head, deep in his thoughts.
"Hunting…And you?"
Her eyes shot up at him, she looked confused. A small grin formed on her lips, but soon vanished.
"Lilies," She looked at the lush bushes, nodding in the spring breeze. Wander furrowed his brows, confused. Lilies don't grow this deep in the woods. He smirked at her lie. An excuse to meet me? His heart sped up at the thought.
"They hold a special place in your heart." He stated the smirk still present. She nodded and raised an eyebrow at his humored expression.
"They're purpose is similar to mine." She speaks in deep wonderment.
"What is your purpose?" His face hardens, truly intrigued by the maiden before him. She looks at him with gleaming eyes that turn a deep mahogany. She looked shocked.
"To serve the Gods, have I not told you before?" She questions. Wander nods, still wary of her answer. He decided not to prod on her personal life and remained silent.
"And what is your purpose mister?"
"Wander."
"I know," She smiles teasingly; he disregards her constant formality and thinks cautiously about her question.
"I haven't found mine yet."
"Oh?" She seems interested. Wander lowers his gaze, feeling embarrassed. Agro laughs at his expression, earning a glare from Wander. The horse stiffens.
"I shall pray you find it someday." She walks up to him, unexpectedly close. He smiles as he realizes he's much taller than the girl, towering over her small stature. Her eyes bore into his, changing into a deep viridian. He tries hard not to lose himself, but her gaze dominates him. Mono's hand reaches up to his face.
"You're eyes are beautiful." She whispers, staring into his oceanic orbs. Wander catches her hand before they meet his face. The shock from the skin contact startles him, but he eases.
"As are yours." He breathes. She looks lost as well, and Wander smiles inwardly. Maybe she feels the same connection. Mono breaks contact, timidly looking away. He steps back, his eyes still fixed on her. She looks at the foliage intently, finding solace in their company. Wander tilts his head to the side and grins.
"If you did come for these lilies, miss. You should know that they do not grow in this part of the woods." He smirked when he caught her lie. Mono flushed scarlet, her porcelain skin found color. They were deep in the woods where the sunlight was limited.
"I am guilty." She gains courage to meet his gaze. Wander smiles warmly. She bows, preparing to leave.
"Goodbye, Wander." She says his name sweetly.
"Please wait," His words are rushed and loud. Wander bites his lip, hating to sound so desperate. The girl turns waiting for him to speak.
"Will we meet again?" He says in a hushed voice. Mono thinks, looking down.
"Perhaps, If it is written in our fates" She says and turns away from his scrutinizing gaze.
"What if it isn't in our fate?" His question halts her steps. The girl looks at him with a surprised expression.
"I will make sure it is." Mono promises, walking up to Wander. His eyes lit at her response and she neared him happily. She tip toed, kissing his cheek with her soft lips.
"Till we meet again," She whispers and leaves the boy in a trance. Agro stares in shock at their conversation, shuddering constantly. The horse neighed angrily.
Noon approached and the villagers flooded the markets. Wander returned from the woods and placed his stallion in the stables.
"There you go," He patted her lovingly. She squealed with joy as he placed dried grains and oats in a bucket. Agro had a huge appetite.
"Wander!" A small voice stops him from his antics. He lowered his gaze to his beloved sister. She was pouting adorably again.
"Yes my love?" He crouches down to meet her gaze. Ayana was seven years old with deep mahogany hair and the same striking blue eyes Wander had. She was truly the spitting image of her older brother.
"I want to hunt with you." She huffs, glaring angrily at Wander. He sighs loudly and smiles at the girl.
"As do I, but you are young."
"And? The other boys hunt with their brothers, why can't I?" She whines. Wander raises himself and thinks carefully for an excuse.
"They are boys and you…"
"Am a girl, right?" Her tone is stern and her eyes harden. Wander picks her up and kisses her cheeks. She sighs, her anger melting away when her brother's warmth engulfs her.
"Can I at least accompany you during your trips?" She asked sweetly, eyes bulging and lips pouting. He rolls his eyes and brings her inside their small cottage.
"Yes." He places her on the cot. She grins widely and he chuckles at her expression. Wander lied on the straw cot, staring at the ceiling and thinking of his meeting with Mono. She did kiss him. If that meant anything. Rolling, to the side, he caught Ayana smirking at him.
"You're troubled?" She inquired. Wander shook his head, a reassuring smile plastered on his face. Ayana didn't drop the subject, she decided to prod on it some more.
"A girl perhaps?" Her smirk was still present. Wander's eyes widened. How does she do that? He wondered amazed at how she can read his mind. Wander nodded plainly, closing his eyes to avoid her inquisition.
"Maybe I'll meet her tomorrow." She lied down as well, deciding to rest her small body. Wander smiled, opening an eye to see if she was sleeping.
Not sure whether to continue. I don't know if people read this…
