PINOCCHIO

Once upon a time, Gepetto, an old and lonely woodsman, lived in the suburbs. One day, an idea illuminated his mind, the idea of crafting a puppet. After hours of hard work, he was done!

Gepetto: Wow, what an amazing puppet. What should I call you? (plays with the puppet's hand) Jojo? Andy? Tom? Woody? (pauses to think for a while)

Aha! Pinocchio! (holds the puppet in the face) Oh, Pinocchio, I'm so lonely... I wish you were alive.

(Yawns) What a tiring night, I think I should go to bed now.

(Gepetto walks to his bedroom)

Suddenly, a flash of light appeared in Gepetto's workspace. It was Fairy Mary!

Fairy Mary: (Waves her magic wand, recites a spell and points it to the necklace, after that she puts a necklace around the puppet's neck)

Pinocchio: (Twitches) Wow, I'm alive!

Fairy Mary: Now, Pinocchio. You must always wear this necklace.

Pinocchio: Why?

Fairy Mary: This necklace will make you alive. If you don't wear this, you won't be able to move or talk.

Pinocchio: Thank you, beautiful fairy…

Fairy Mary: And remember, you must behave well and listen to your father's advice.

Pinocchio: Who is my father?

Fairy Mary: You see that old man? He's Geppeto. (points at the bedroom)

Pinocchio: Okay, I promise!

Fairy Mary: Farewell, Pinocchio. This will be our last meeting… (walks away dramatically)

The next morning...

Geppeto: (Yawns) What a beautiful morning!

Pinocchio : (Jumps to Geppeto) Papa!

Geppeto: (surprised) Whattt? How can you be alive, Pinocchio?

Pinocchio: Last night a beautiful fairy made me alive!

Geppeto: Oh really? I must be dreaming!

Pinocchio: (pinches Geppeto) No, you're not dreaming Mr. Geppeto. This is real!

Geppeto: No. This is not real, it's a dream... it's a dream... it's a dream... (shakes head)

Pinocchio: No, you're not dreaming, Pops!

(Geppeto gapes)

Geppeto: (hugs Pinocchio) Finally! I have a son. Come on Pinocchio, I'll show you something.

(Geppeto gets up from his bed)

Pinocchio: What is it about, Papa?

Geppeto: It's about my job, son.

Pinocchio: What do you do?

Geppeto: I'm a woodsman. I craft furnitures, canes, and puppets like you!

Pinocchio: Wow, that sounds like fun! I wanna see it!

Geppeto: Okay.

(Geppeto takes Pinocchio to his workspace)

At the workspace, Geppeto showed Pinocchio his masterpieces, and Pinocchio stared in awe.

Pinocchio: (Excited) Papa, can I be a woodsman like you?

Geppeto: Of course you can, Pinocchio. In order to do so, you must go to school!

Pinocchio: What is school?

Geppeto: It's a wonderful place, son. You will learn a lot of things there.

Pinocchio: When will I go to school, Papa?

Geppeto: Tomorrow. Now you should take a bath.

Pinocchio: Yeah, you too pops. You're smelly! (covers nose)

Geppeto: (Sniffs his body) You're right!

Meanwhile in the bad guys' lair, Alison and Izzy were planning something.

Alison: Hey, Izzy, have you heard the news?

Izzy: What news, Al?

Alison: That old man, Geppeto… he made a puppet and it's alive!

Izzy: How can it be?

Alison: I don't know. By the way, the puppet's going to school tomorrow. Maybe someone can spy on him.

Izzy: Great! Who will spy on him?

Alison: Of course us, you fool! (hits Izzy's head)

Izzy: Ouch! It hurts!

Alison: (Ignores Izzy) Now, let's prepare...

The next day, Pinocchio went to school and he made new friends.

Pinocchio: Hi, I'm Pinocchio. What's your name?

Maggie: I'm Maggie. Nice to meet you, Pinocchio!

(Pinocchio and Maggie shake hands)

Pinocchio: By the way, what are we going to do at school?

Maggie: Learning things and… having some fun!

Pinocchio: (amused) Wow, school must be amazing.

Maggie: Ssssh… The teacher's coming!

Mr. Nathan: Good morning, students! (Puts her books on the table)

Students: Good morning Mr. Nathan…!

Mr. Nathan: Today we're going to learn math. Take out your math book and do the exercises on page 66!

(The students take out their books and do their work)

Pinocchio: (Whispers to Maggie) This is so boring, Meg, let's sneak out!

(Mr. Nathan looks at Pinocchio suspiciously)

Maggie: (Pointing to Mr. Nathan)

Mr. Nathan: Pinocchio, why are you talking in my class? (Throws an eraser to Pinocchio)

Pinocchio: Ouch!

Mr. Nathan: (angrily) That's because you're not listening to me!

Pinocchio: (regretfully) I'm so sorry, Mr. Nathan.

(Bell Rings)

Pinocchio was walking home with Maggie, and something interesting caught her attention.

Maggie: Wow, what's that? (Looks at Pinocchio's neck)

Pinocchio: It's a necklace that a beautiful fairy gave me.

Maggie: Let me take a look at it! (pulls Pinocchio's necklace)

Pinocchio: (Stops moving)

Maggie: Ahhhh! What have I done! (shrieks in terror and panic)

Meanwhile, Izzy and Alison were watching them from behind the bushes.

Alison: Look, Iz. The necklace made the puppet alive!

Izzy: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Alison: Yes, it must have magical powers! We could be rich!

Izzy: No, I was thinking if you can wear it to the party. You'll look pretty with it! (grins)

Alison: (Rolls her eyes) No, you moron! What party are you talking about anyway? We can sell it and get a lot of money!

Izzy: You're smart!

Alison: Thanks. By the way, let's do it next week!

(Izzy nods in agreement, and they go home)

Geppeto: (Runs to Maggie angrily) What have you done to my son!

Maggie: (stutters) I don't know, Mr. Geppeto. I just pulled his necklace…

Geppeto: Maybe we should put it back to him. (Puts the necklace back)

(Pinocchio starts twitching and comes to life)

Pinocchio: (groans) Ow…

Geppeto: Ohh… I'm glad you're still alive! (hugs Pinocchio)

Maggie: I'm sorry Pinocchio. I didn't mean to!

Pinocchio: It's alright, Meg.

Geppeto: Let's go home, son.

Maggie: Bye, Pinocchio. Bye, Mr Geppeto! (waves her hand and walks away)

Pinocchio: Bye, Meg! See you soon! (Geppeto smiles)

A week later, on Pinocchio and his father's way home from school…

Alison: (walks to Geppeto, sobbing) Help me, sir... please…

Geppeto: (worried) What is it, young lady?

Alison: Oh, please help me, sir. My husband is…captured by gangsters!

Geppeto: Oh, okay. (Comes with Alison and leaves Pinocchio)

(Izzy captures Pinocchio)

Pinocchio: (muffled) Mph! Mph! Help! Help!

After Alison tricked Geppeto and left him in some strange place, she rushed to her lair to meet her partner. In the lair, she found Pinocchio struggling against Izzy who was trying to place the puppet on a chair.

Alison: Quick, tie him up!

(Izzy ties Pinocchio)

Pinocchio: Hey, what do you want from me?

Izzy: We just want your necklace, dude.

Alison: (Snatches Pinocchio's necklace) Oh! I killed him! (sarcastically)

Izzy: We should put this necklace in a safe place. Where should it be?

Alison: Just put it in the drawer. (Opens the drawer and lock it)

Izzy: Now what're we gonna do?

Alison: You guard this kid (points to Pinocchio), and I'll go to sleep.

Izzy: Hey, that's not fair! (sulking)

Alison: But you're my minion, Iz. You must work harder than me.

Izzy: (sighs) Whatever…

Hours passed by, and Izzy grew bored with each second. So… she decided to sleep.

Izzy: This is boring. No one's here anyway… (sleeps)

Suddenly Maggie merged out from her hiding place.

Maggie: (Tiptoes to Pinocchio) Oh, my God! Where's his necklace? (surprised, but keeps her voice low) It must be somewhere… (Looks around and starts searching)

Ah, maybe it's inside this drawer. But… (tries to open the drawer) it's locked! What do I have to do? (pauses to think)

Aha! (Takes a hairpin from her hair and tries to unlock the drawer)

Yay! It's open! (puts the necklace around Pinocchio's neck)

Pinocchio: (Twitches) Huh? What happened, Meg? And why I am tied up?

Maggie: Ssssh... (Points at Izzy and unties Pinocchio)

Pinocchio: (Whispers) Thank you.

Maggie: Let's go home while he's still asleep… (tiptoes out of the lair)

(Pinocchio nods and follows Meg out of the bad guys' lair.)

When Pinocchio and Maggie arrived they found Geppeto's house locked, so they asked Pinocchio's neighbor, Mrs. Jackson the whereabouts of his father.

(Pinocchio knocks Mrs. Jackson's door)

Mrs. Jackson: Who's there?

Pinocchio: It's me, Mrs. Jackson, Pinocchio.

(Mrs. Jackson opens it)

Mrs. Jackson: Pinocchio, where have you been? Your father's been worried sick about you!

Maggie: Where is he, ma'am?

Mrs. Jackson: I heard he went to the forest.

(Pinocchio and Maggie gasp in unison)

Pinocchio: Where did he go, Mrs. Jackson?

Mrs. Jackson: That way. (points to a direction) Uh… (unsure) that way. (Points to another direction) Uh… (pauses)

Maggie: (cuts in) I know where the woods are, Pinocchio.

Pinocchio: Okay, thanks, Mrs. Jackson! (follows Maggie)

Meanwhile, Alison and Izzy were arguing in their lair.

Alison: (angry) Why did you let the puppet go? And the necklace's gone!

Izzy: It's not my fault, he ran away. If you think I'm stupid why didn't you do it yourself?

Alison: I was tired! I distracted that old man, didn't I?

Izzy: (yells) IT'S NOT FAIR!

Alison: You should have done better, Iz. You're older than me, for crying out loud!

Izzy: Calm down, Al! We could search for him. He mustn't have gotten far!

Alison: (calms down) Okay. Let's go.

In the woods...

Pinocchio: (Yells) Papa! Papa! Where are you?

Maggie: Mr. Geppeto! Mr. Geppeto! Are you there? Can you hear us?

Pinocchio: Papa! Papa! (looks around, then stops at the ground)

(exclaims) Look! Footsteps!

Maggie: Follow them, maybe it's your dad's!

So they followed the trail. But in their worry for Geppeto, little did they know those footsteps led to danger.

Maggie: Wait! Stop, Pinocchio!

Pinocchio: Why?

Maggie: The footsteps! They end here! (points at the end of the trail)

Pinocchio: Wait… these footsteps… there are two pairs of them!

(Izzy walks from behind a tree)

Izzy: Haha! There you are, little brats!

(Pinocchio gasps)

Pinocchio: (stutters nervously) Wh..wh..what have you done to my father?

Alison: I don't know, kid. Maybe he's eaten by a lion. All I want is that necklace, not your filthy father.

(Maggie steps in front of Pinocchio, protecting him)

Maggie: Over my dead body.

Alison: (sarcastically) So… this is our little hero. (laughs evilly)

Izzy: Move it, kid.

(Izzy pushes Maggie and she falls)

Pinocchio: (angry) Hey, don't hurt my friend!

(Alison snatches Pinocchio's necklace from behind him and puts it on)

Alison: AAAH! IT BURNS! (writhes in pain)

Izzy: Alison! (panics, releases Maggie and tries to help Alison)

(Maggie stares at the two bad guys)

Izzy: (cries) Noooo! Alison!

(Alison and Izzy collapse, suddenly Geppeto comes)

Geppeto: Ah, (flinches at the sight of the unconscious forms of Alison and Izzy) what happened to them, Meg?

Maggie: Well, they deserved that, Mr. Geppeto.

Geppeto: (Takes the necklace from Alison's neck) Oh, so they tried to steal my son's necklace. And where is Pinocchio?

Maggie: There! (points at Pinocchio)

Geppeto: (Puts the necklace to Pinocchio's neck)

Pinocchio: (groggily) What happened?

Geppeto: (hugs Pinocchio) There's nothing to worry about, son. I really missed you… where have you been, Pinocchio?

Pinocchio: Well, that's a very long story, Pops.

Gepppeto: I'm sorry for leaving you in the street Pinocchio, that evil woman distracted me…

Pinocchio: (reassuring) That's not your fault, Pops.

Geppeto: (happy) Let's celebrate this, Pinocchio! Do you want to come, Maggie?

Maggie: Sure, Mr. Geppeto. Thank you.

They walked back to the suburbs. Suddenly, for the second time in Pinocchio's life, a flash of bright light appeared out of nowhere.

Maggie: What's that?

(Fairy Mary appears)

Pinocchio: (exclaims happily) Beautiful Fairy!

Fairy Mary: Call me Fairy Mary, Pinocchio. (smiles) Pinocchio, you've been a good boy. Your love for your father makes you deserve this…

(Waves her magic wand, recites a spell and points it to the puppet)

You won't need your necklace anymore.

(Pinocchio turns into a human boy, Maggie stares in awe)

Pinocchio: Wow! I'm not a puppet anymore! Thank you, Fairy Mary! (throws away the necklace and jumps happily)

(Fairy Mary turns to Maggie)

Fairy Mary: Maggie, you've been a good friend. You deserve a reward, my dear. What do you want?

Maggie: (excited) I want something that can call you anytime!

Fairy Mary: Take this whistle. (hands Maggie the whistle) You can call me anytime you want.

Maggie: Thanks a lot, Fairy Mary! (Hugs Fairy Mary)

Fairy Mary: You're welcome…

(Fairy Mary disappears)

Geppeto: (pats Pinocchio's shoulder) I'm so proud of you, Pinocchio. Now let's go to the restaurant!

Meanwhile, deep in the woods… let's have a look on our beloved villains, shall we?

Alison: Where are we?

Izzy: Oh… I'm dizzy… (holds her head)

Alison: (looks around) Hey, where's the necklace?

Izzy: Gone with the kid, I suppose…

Alison: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
