He thought he could do this, he thought if he told everyone he was fine, he would be, if he offered to get involved in their wedding, he would finaly be able to move on, be able to get over her, but who was he kidding? Only himself.
He watched as the months, days and now hours on the clock ticked down to her wedding, he liked the man she was marrying he was a great guy, but he wasn't him. When he looked at his life, she was the only woman he ever saw himself settling down with, when she wanted that he got cold feet and broke her heart by breaking up with her, they tried to get back together, but they were afraid they'd mess it all up, now she's happy and found someone new and have moved on, and he's just stuck in a time loop wanting her but he couldn't have her now, she was his friend, surely he could be happy for her?
He had to be happy for them?
He couldn't cause her anymore pain could he?
As he sat down in the church, he looked around, familiar smiling faces all around him, he put on his best smile like his heart wasn't breaking at the thought of her getting married, she was marrying someone who wasn't him, how did this happen?
They were perfect together, they were supposed to get married, live together, have children, that was supposed to be them, where did it all go wrong? Sometimes he wonders if he should have fought harder to get her back, maybe she should of, now hes blaming her for this? He shakes his head, he needs to get some air.
He needed to get out of here, as he rose from his seat he bumped into a taller, leaner, dark haired man, "Sorry" he muttered not bothering to check to see who it was, as he made his way out of the church he took a deep breath, like he was trying hard to breath, she was like his oxygen supply and she was slipping away from him, well she hadn't been his for over three years, she was someone else's now, except in his head, it should be him waiting at the bottle of the aisle for her not someone else.
There was no way he could go back in there and hear her declare her undying love to another man, it would break his heart into a million pieces, it was something he wouldn't recover from that, he was sure of it.
And that's when he looks up and their eyes meet, she looks stunning in her wedding dress, his breath is stuck in his throat, the love of his life, was marrying someone else, the realisation was finally sinking in, he put on the best fake smile he could muster when his eyes finally reconnected with hers, he skimmed his eyes over her body, she's lost weight, not a lot but it was noticable even though she was already skinny enough in his opinion, he knew her too well, she didn't see the beauty everyone else saw when they look at her, she was naturally beautiful, and she smiled back at him, hers was genuine, he wondered if she could tell his was fake? As she started walking towards him, "Shouldn't you be inside, it's your wedding day, you'll catch a cold out here" He says casually to her, but saying it was her wedding day was breaking him slowly, he wants to scream out it should be them up there not her and someone else.
A/N 2: Here's the spoiler though, you won't find out who the couple is until the next chapter but feel free to guess ;)
