Kagome's POV

I sat in my white cage and sighed. Tomorrow I would be put up in the market for sale. This would be a horror. Suddenly a hand hit my cage.

"Stupid girl. You should have stayed away." My so-called owner growled.

"Inuyasha, why?" I tried to speak but only came out a chirp. Inuyasha chuckled darkly. Kikyo just smirked.

"Go to sleep!" He snapped at me. "Tomorrow we sell you." Inuyasha slowly walked away with Kikyo trailing behind him. Kikyo turned to me, switched off the lights and snarled.

"You better hope your new owner(s) wont eat you." She slammed the door shut and I stared out of my cage and to the moon. If I was who I was supposed to be then tears would be falling from my eyes. I got comfortable and fell into a light sleep, hoping my new owner(s) would be nicer and dreaming of my wonderful past life.

Next day at the Market

People passed my cage and stared at me but no one wanted me. Yet. I so desperately wanted to spread out my wings but they were delicate and would surely get cramped. My eyes looked around, searching for at least someone that looked trustworthy. I looked over to the sign next to me. It said

Last living Canary for sale

Its true. I was the last of the Canary birds. I wasn't always a bird. I used to be a Priestess human girl until one night...I followed Inuyasha but was caught when I eavesdropped on their conversation. Kikyo placed a curse on me. I would be a Canary bird but a black one. The curse was horrible. The pain I felt when my body changed. I wont be normal until I find my true love but I would change under the full moon into my normal form, like the swan princess or how werewolfs change under the full moon. I guess Inuyasha wasn't it. As my eyes scanned the crowd I stared at someone inparticular. A blonde haired purple eyed boy. He seemed to be staring straight back at me. I whistled a small tune and he smiled. If I could I would have smiled back but for some reason he could see it in my eyes. Walking away from his small group of friends he came to me. Kikyo gingerly(COUGH*not*COUGH) took me out of my cage and the boy very delicately held me. He slowly stroked my feathers and I felt safe.

"This bird is very rare. Would you like her?" Kikyo asked.

No ones POV

Brainy held the small black female Canary whom we know as Kagome.

"Yes please. How much?" He asked as Kagome streached her wings. After paying for her she was placed back in the cage and handed to Brainy. After he walked back to his friends they all went back to the Legions HQ. Phantom Girl turned to Brainy.

"Why'd you get that black Canary? It could be carrying a disease." She said.

"Hey! I'm not! Don't be offensive!" Kagome tried to say but little chirps came out as she flapped her wings, obviously offended. Timber Wolf chuckled sligtly, understanding since he was part animal. Brainy thought for a bit.

"Actually I don't know why." He said, opening the cage. Kagome flinched, thinking they were going to hit her but Brainy's hand reached in, pulled her out and held her in the palm of his hand. Kagome started chirping frantically, trying to say something but was silenced when Brainy stroked the side of her face, whispering

"Shh shh. Its alright. We wont hurt you." She streached her wings, flapped and flew about the room, whistling a small happy tune. The others smiled at the happy bird. Suddenly a bit of paper fell from her back, reading

This bird's name is Kagome

Brainy quite liked that name. Kagome sat on his shoulder and snuggled down.

"Kagome." He whispered. The young bird perked up, understanding.

"Yes yes. Same routine. I flew up without permission now I need to be punished. Okay get it over and done with." She chirped but knew no one understood her. Except Timber Wolf. He spoke back to her.

"No ones going to punish you, Kagome." He said and the others stared at him. Kagome felt happiness enter her. Someone understood her! Timber Wolf explained.

"She thinks that since she flew without permission she's going to be punished like in her old routine." Kagome nodded in agreement then started chirping again.

" I can trust you all?" She asked and Timber Wolf nodded.

"She asked if she could trust us. I guess I'll be the translator for now." He said but slightly grinned. Kagome hopped onto the window sill and saw the sun falling down.

"Yes! Its going to happen!" She chirped. Timber Wolf looked at her in confusion.

"What is going to happen?" He asked. Kagome turned to him.

"My real form." She answered and the moon was just rising. "Once the moon rises to the exact point I'll be in my true form. I was cursed. The woman and man who sold me to you cursed me and I'm trapped like this until the full moon rises at a point until it hides again or until I find true love." Timber Wolf stared.

"What did she say?" Superman asked, curiously. Timber Wolf turned to his friends.

"She said 'My real form. Once the moon rises to the exact point I'll be in my true form. I was cursed. The woman and man who sold me to you cursed me and I'm trapped like this until the full moon rises at a point until it hides again or until I find true love.' " He translated again but just as he finished the moon was at the exact point Kagome spoke of. A bright blue light enveloped the bird as its body grew. Arms slowly grew. Claws turning into long legs and feet. body turning into a human girl's. Long raven hair fell over the body and later the transformation was complete but huge black bird wings stayed on her back. The wings covered the person and her head popped out, revealing big bright blue eyes, a small petite nose, small red soft-looking lips and a small purple and green diamond settled in her forehead. Her cheeks slightly tinted red.

"Uuuh...can I borrow some clothes please?" She asked, turning beet red. Everyone but the girls turned away, turning red. Saturn Girl passed her a black top and a long skirt.

"I hope these'll fit." She said and the others turned away. After placing on the clothes Kagome called back.

"Hey I'm changed." She said and everyone turned back to her.

"Soooooo...Akward. Heh." She laughed, obviously embarrassed and uncomfortable.

"Fasinating..." Brainy murmured, circling the half bird half human in curiosity. "I've never seen something like this before." His hand trailed along her wing. Kagome flinched away, blushing. Oh boy. Kagome was gonna go through a bit of hell until it was over.
