"Why are you letting your parents force you into this arranged marriage?" he demanded, a hint of urgency coating his words. "The Toph I know wouldn't let anyone control her life. The Toph I know wouldn't marry someone she didn't love!"
If she hadn't been blind, she probably would've rolled her eyes. But because she was, in fact, blind, she settled on hardening her face, wiping every emotion besides annoyance off, and blowing her bangs out of her useless eyes. "Look, I know that this isn't really ideal or what any of you imagined I would do. I, too, was against it at first. Even though I don't love him, and he doesn't love me either, I do know that Shi is a good man. He'll always take care of me and be kind to me. That's all I need. I guess after my parents explained to me that no one could ever love a cranky blind woman, I just went along with it. Hey, if nothing else, he's a great person and an amazing friend."
"Since when have you ever listened to your parents? You stupid, vindictive, brash, impulsive little woman..."
"Care to list anymore of my flaws?" she interrupted with a scowl on her face and a hand on her hip, vaguely reminding him of an angry Katara.
As if he hadn't noticed her interruption, he urged on, "You think no one could love you? You, the greatest earthbender in the world. You, the funniest person alive. Or how about you, the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on. Well news flash, princess, I'm in love with you."
"Don't call me prince-," she cut herself off, eyes widening as her mind processed the true heaviness of his words. She blurt out the only coherent words her brain could put into her mouth, "Wait. You... Huh?"
"You heard me, Ms. Superhuman Hearing. I fucking love you. Every last aggressive, crazy, abrasive, idiotic, cocky, hilarious, loving, honest, beautiful bit of you." He sighed before continuing, "And I know I don't deserve you, but there's this small, hopeful part of me that thinks you would at least give this boomerang-bearing, meat-loving idiot a chance."
"Sokka, I- I don't know what to say. I think I need to sit down." A look of utter shock covered her face. She pinched herself, making sure this was, in fact, reality. In any other situation, he might've laughed.
"Just give me a chance. That's all I ask," he literally begged, grabbing her hands and pulling her closer to him. He cracked a smile at her confused face and the crimson color that had decided to permanently etch itself across her cheeks.
His hands wrapped around her waist, forcing her head to press against his chest. In this position, she could clearly hear his heart beating, forcing her to learn if he was truly being sincere.
She grinned.
"Idiot."
Now, he was the one who looked shock. He pulled back from their hug to see the expression on her face. When he saw her wide smile, his shock turned to utter confusion. She looked up, as if she knew exactly where his eyes were, and caressed the side of his face.
Leaning closer to him, she closed her eyes and whispered, "I love you, too," and captured him in a kiss.
Author's Note: I'm sorry, was this awful? The idea just popped into my head and I had to write it. I did it in about 30 minutes and didn't really check it over, so let me know if there were any mistakes. I might write more one shots, but I'm not sure yet.
