Chapter 1
I do NOT, I repeat, do NOT own Assassin's Creed, it belongs to their respectful owners (Ubisoft), I only own my OCs.
Even though it was a gloomy day all over New York City, my friends and I were ecstatic for the first time in months. The band we formed consisted of our bass and vocals Sam, our drummer Kate, the vocals and guitar Casey, and me, lead guitarist and vocals. We didn't really have a band name yet.
My best guy friend, Jake, made the arrangements a few weeks ago for our first gig in downtown New York. You see, we're a cover band to rock music, a mixture of pop and rock, and occasionally we play J-rock. (A/N: J-rock is Japanese rock.) We aren't very popular, that's why we don't get that many gigs. The band also tried writing songs too, it was DISASTROUS. I literally mean it. The last time we tried writing songs two months ago, we ended up nearly tearing each other apart to see which song was better.
But here we are, in the bar, tuning our instruments. I was the last one to get there because there was very heavy traffic while getting there and that blew out my entire wallet.
As I got to the stage, I proudly pulled out my red fender guitar from my case, all nice and glossy with my random doodles, mainly of anime. (I really love to doodle.) Just like Sam and Casey, I was tuning my guitar right before the gig started. After that, we all huddled up toward Kate, our drummer, and discussed what songs that were going to be in the play list, and gave a small pep talk to each other.
We started with DOLL by SCANDAL, translated into English; we thought that it was the best song to fit the first song in the play list. When the song was finished, a few people clapped, even the bartender, slowly gaining confidence, we then sang DEEP MIND by buono!, we then sang Awake and Alive by Skillet, there were more songs in the play list, but I don't want to delve into details. We then ended the gig with Crow Song by Girls Dead Monster. There was some guy who came to the show, but after having enough drinks, he decided to leave early. There is something off about that guy; I just don't know what it is. With a confident expression on our faces, we all packed up our things and said good-bye to each other.
As I came out through the back door, the guy that left early during our gig, he appeared to be running, came up to me, and said, "Look, I know that this out of ordinary, but can you keep this? I'm really busy at the moment and I would like someone like you to protect it, because people like that guy in the black suit is out for that thing. Okay?" he then turned around and heard yelling, he then handed me a weird metallic gold globe, "Shit! They're catching up! Remember protect the apple with your life!" he said the last sentence running away from God knows what.
This thing is an apple? I thought, it doesn't look like one. In a way, I was lucky that I was in an alley. Because the "apple" the man called it, was starting to glow unnaturally and burn in my hand, then everything went black.
When I woke up, my head was pounding, and just like last night, wait, last night? That means that I was asleep for a whole night? Maybe more? Fuck! I can't believe that I was asleep for that long! My brothers are probably worried sick wondering where I am! Well, most of them, you see, when you come from a family that has like around seven brothers while you're the only daughter in the family, some siblings will care about you, meaning the responsible, eldest brothers, and then the rest don't really care, meaning the irresponsible, close-to-your-age, brothers.
But anyway, just like last night, I was in an alley, but something seemed….. I don't know….different. It was never this bright in New York, unless you were in upstate New York, I looked around and saw dirt roads and…..hay bales? Just where the hell am I? I then got up and found out that I was still holding the "apple" in my right hand. Oh, great. Just fucking great! This piece of shit bought me somewhere God knows where! I looked around again and noticed that I still had my guitar. I sighed with my relief, knowing that I would have something to look forward to throughout this nightmare.
Okay, first things first, the guy that had I saw in the alley had told me to protect this thing with my life. Since there is plenty of room in my case, I decided to put it in there.
I then decided to go outside and find out where I am, once stepping out of that alley, my eyes started burning, you know, like after you wake up, I then shielded my eyes quickly, yelling out, "GAHH! It burns!" earning stares from everyone in the vicinity. They then started murmuring something in a different language, probably thinking that I'm crazy or something. And what are these guys wearing? It's like they're from an another century or something, the girls are wearing dresses like they're in the 1700s or something, and the guys, oh my gosh, the guys, they're wearing freaking tights and dressed like freaking Robin Hood! I mean, is there a Renaissance Fair in New York? I swear, this creeping me out beyond belief.
To find out where I actually am, I go up to a random girl who, not surprisingly, was wearing a dress, I tapped her shoulder to get her attention and asked, "Um, excuse me."
I was pretty sure that she understood English because she replied, "Si?"
"If you don't mind me asking," I started, "what year is it?"
"Bene, penso che l'anno 1473 è stato l'ultima volta che ho controllato (well, I think the year was 1473 the last time I checked)"
"Um," I said, motioning my hands, "do you speak English by any chance?"
"Well, yes." The girl replied.
"Great, can you repeat your answer please? I need to know what year it is." I said to the girl satisfyingly, knowing that at least someone knows English.
"I said that the year was 1473."
My eyes widened, 1473? Just where did this damn apple take me? "And where are we?" I asked nervously.
"We are in Firenze." She replied. My eyes started to water, tears threatening to come out. I'm all the way in Italy? I'm nearly six hundred years from the future? Could life just get any worse? The girl seemed to notice my watery eyes and asked, "Why? Is there something wrong?" She tried to offer a comforting hand toward me, but I ignored it and walked back to the alley where I first woke up in this nightmare.
I woke up to the sound of pounding rain and a growling stomach. Oh gosh, I'm so hungry, I thought, and this rain isn't helping either. My eyes then widened, I forgot that because of the humidity, my guitar's seams may have become loose or my frets and strings will be tarnished or the bridge or my brace will become loose or my tuning machine will be ruined or its top will swell. I quickly open my bag and find it safe and sound, nothing bad has happened to it. I sigh with relief, now knowing that nothing bad had happened to it.
My stomach's growling again. I'm pretty sure that I'll die from starvation if I stay here any longer. I know that it'll be a long shot, but I look in my guitar case to see if it's anything edible in there. Surprisingly, there's a bag of unopened gummi bears and a water bottle. Huh, when did I put this in there? I shrug, thinking that food is food, no matter where you get, and eat a little bit. I'd finish the bag, but I have to ration it, I don't want to starve.
When the rain started to settle, I decided to play BURN by SCANDAL on my guitar. I think, that in a way, the tune of the song describes my mod at the moment; like I'm lost with nowhere to go; wow, that sounded cheesy, considering that's already happened. I shook my head from these thoughts and concentrating on playing the song and humming the lyrics. That was until a voice interrupted me. "So that was what was in your bag." I looked up to see that it was the girl whom I had asked yesterday.
I nodded and replied, "Yes. This thing has bought me a lot of good fortune." I was right about that. After all, she has started my musical career in the first place.
"Like what?" She asked.
"Well," I started, "she was the one that started my music career."
"'She'?" she asked, confused.
"That's what some musicians where I'm from call their instruments." I explained. "Some even name their instruments."
"That is….very strange."
"I know right, one of my friends named her instrument 'Susan'." I'm serious, my friend named her bass, Susan. I don't know why she named it that, and I'm still wondering to this very day.
"Well anyways," she started, "Where are you from?" she asked curiously.
Oh come on, I thought, why couldn't I have gone to the 40s? At least I know that America would've been real. Okay, remembering all the way in third grade is that Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492 doesn't help at all. Come on think! Think! "I'm from…..from… Panem!" I mentally face palmed. Great, now I have to explain to the girl where Panem is. As much as I love the Hunger Games, I did not want to explain it to her.
"'Panem'?" she repeated. "I never heard of this place before. What is it like?"
"Hmmm, let's see," I said, putting my guitar back in its bag, "Panem is a city just north of Europe. Our capital doesn't care about us citizens nor the state we are in. Leaving us in poor conditions, letting us starve, letting us fend on our own, and making us die each day. There is an annual competition called the 'Hunger Games,' where children ages 12-18 compete to the death. Most of my brothers are out of the competition since they are in their twenties already. I didn't want to die, so I acted like a coward and ran away from home, I probably won't see them until another four years or so." I said. I pretty much had to explain what the hunger games were. That part wasn't true, some of my brothers are in their late teens, but just wanted to say it, the girl would've thought that I would only abandon my siblings for the sake of saving my own life.
"Oh mio Dio! (Oh my God!)" She exclaimed, covering her mouth with shock. "That sounds horrible! It must've been hard for you to leave your family like that and come here!"
I nodded, "It is, and by the way, my name is Olivia." I stood up and put my hand out and she shook it.
"And my name is Claudia." She replied back. Wait, that name sounds familiar. I think, Where have I heard it from? "Come; let me take you to my home, considering that you have nowhere to go. Si?" no need to translate that, because knowing the language or not, I already know that that's a yes. I zipped up my guitar case and follow Claudia.
When we came toward Claudia's home, I did not expect it to be a mansion; I just expected it would just a regular home. What a prosperous family! Step by step, I was going into her home, possibly staying there for my whole life, trembling a little bit due to the nervousness; I stepped into her house, hearing Claudia yell something in her native tongue over and over again.
Because of Claudia's incessive yelling, a man, who had I presumed to be her father, came out and asked her something in which I did not understand, I should've taken Italian at school, but noooo, I had to choose Spanish. Stupid Chris, I shouldn't have listened to him, after all, most of my brothers aren't the brightest in the family.
While listening to their conversation, I noticed that her father was looking at me, with suspicion in his eyes; I just nonchalantly waved hi to him, while Claudia told him about me. After much hesitation, Claudia translated to me what her father said and followed her into his office.
"Now that we are alone, I would like to introduce myself." He started with crystal clear English. Claudia must've told him that I didn't understand Italian. "I am Giovanni Auditore, my daughter, who has brought you here, is Claudia Auditore." Realization dawned on me, I knew that Claudia's name sounded familiar, I just didn't know where! My older brothers always play Assassin's Creed and my best friend, Casey. Whenever one of them plays a memory and they desynchronize, I always hear them yell out in anger because of some mistake that they made either Altair or Ezio do in the game, and accidentally break something in their vicinity. It's so annoying that whenever I practice on my guitar, I have to set the amp on full blast just to drone out their yelling, and one time, one of my brothers was playing Assassin's Creed, and he got so mad that he killed the landline and I had to pay for it, yes, I have other older brothers, and some of them have jobs, but we divided on what we would spend our money on, me getting the money for the maintenance of my guitar and the phone bills. Now don't get me wrong, I love the Assassin's Creed franchise, it just gets too rowdy in the house because of it.
"Now tell me," said Giovanni, going around to sit his desk chair, "what brings you here to Firenze?" he gestured me to begin.
I told him my cover story as to came to Firenze, I also told him where Panem is before he asked and what the Hunger Games were. I decided to tell him where I originally came from later, telling him right now won't do me any good at all, plus, I do not want to see his shocked face, telling him that I'm around six hundred years into the future. And telling him that I know that he's an assassin would get me killed, I can already imagine him pushing me up a wall, with his hidden blade in my neck, threatening to end my life as I know it, interrogating me where I got the information from and then I have to show him the apple, which will cause me to break that guy's words to protect it, then he'll interrogate me more. Which, I would not like at all. I shuddered with fear, no way am I gonna tell him that I know that I know that he's an assassin.
Giovanni seemed to notice my shudder and my mind lost in thought and asked, "Mi scusi signora, (excuse me miss) is something the matter?"
"Huh? No, nothing. Nothing at all. It's nothing important." I quickly replied.
"Very well," he said. "We will let you stay in the guest room. Claudia will show you where it is, she will also provide you a dress and you will meet the family around supper." He finished.
I got up from my seat and said, "Thank you Giovanni. I am in your debt."
"No need to thank me," he said, "you should thank Claudia for finding you."
I nodded and asked, "Giovanni, is it okay that I learn Italian? I do not want to have Claudia translate for me."
"It is not a problem. I'll have my wife to provide for the lessons." He replied.
"Thank you." I said as I nodded my thanks and followed Claudia into my room.
A/N:
This is not me! I AM NOT putting a self-insert OC! I just harmlessly came up with the idea while reading "A Dream Come True" while listening to j-rock songs! I have had ideas for an AC fanfic, but my OCs always ended up being a Mary Sue! I just hope anyone is OOC or if Olivia is Mary Sueish! And I do not own the Hunger Games! It was just a cover story for Olivia! And I will be adding a little story to include her seven brothers into this story; I do not want them to only be mentioned. It'll be after this author's note.
Olivia's older brothers haven't seen her, but they were used to this, she always slept over her friend's house without them asking, but when her eldest brother, Brad, called her friends, she wasn't with them. That is odd, even for her; she always came back after two-three days. Forcing him to calm himself down, his younger brother, Joe, told him to relax and concentrate on the future of his soon-to-be child.
To calm himself, he played Assassin's Creed. He always liked Altair better, whereas his other brothers liked Ezio. But while playing Assassin's Creed, the screen froze, and when he tried to turn his Xbox off, it didn't turn off, he then tried to turn off the TV, but that didn't work either. He soon got mad and threw the controller down the floor and then stomped on it. He always had a bad temper, that's why he always had a rubber band on his wrist to calm himself down. But while stomping on the controller he then was blinded by an unnaturally bright light, he shielded his eyes from the bright light. When his eyes focused back to normal, he then found an unconscious man, wearing a white hood and a lot of armor and weaponry. His eyes then widened, and quickly called his brothers and his wife and two sisters-in-law over, they all wondered what was wrong. Brad then pointed to the unconscious man in the hood and everyone started to freak out, except for his wife and sisters-in-law, who didn't know what was happening.
"Everybody calm down." Said Brad, "Since all of you know who Altair is, with the exception of Brenda, Michelle, and Sasha. I suggest that either one of you remove his weapons and hide them, along with the games, and anything AC related."
John, one of the brothers, nodded and started to carefully remove his weapons, while Brian, the second youngest brother, went around all their rooms and removed anything AC relating. Since, Brenda was eight months pregnant, decided to walk their ten year old dog, Rocky; Michelle and Sasha was preparing dinner, and Brad was wondering what to do with Altair. He still couldn't believe it. His favorite video game character was right there, right before his eyes, he read all the fanfictions where their favorite video game character came to the real world. He was now wondering how we were going to deal with Altair after he finds out that he's in the 21st century. Now all he could do is wait…
Review! And no flames please!
