I've done everything I can, and she still chose Mako over me.
Bolin tosses in his bed trying to find a comfortable position, but he knows it's useless. Even if his body gets comfortable, the green monster inside him will not let his mind be at ease, not with Korra and his brother sleeping together in the bed across the room.
His mind is churning, and so is his stomach. Every small rustle of sheets, every slightly audible sleepy groan, it's all too much for him. But he can't do anything. He's tried so hard. He brought her presents, gave her compliments; he thought his feelings were completely obvious. But, apparently, it didn't matter.
That treacherous kiss started a chain of events that only made Bolin's pining heart throb more, and his insides melt into mush. It all started with a kiss, only a kiss; that's all it took to change everything.
Mako had broken up with Asami after the championship, and although they hadn't won, the Fire Ferrets had made a bunch of money; nobody wanted to sponsor the Wolfbats or give them freebies since they couldn't return next season. So they had money, and they were set, yet they still chose to live in the loft like they had before, only it suddenly started to feel smaller because Korra started to frequent more. And although she had been there before to pal around with Bolin, when she started coming over to see Mako, to do things with Mako, Bolin suddenly found himself feeling claustrophobic.
Every little thing, Korra brushing a hair off of Mako's forehead, Mako letting his hand graze against Korra's bare shoulder, they sent pings of jealously and hurt right through Bolin's core. But he was helpless. The two people he loved most, loved each other, just feet away from him.
Bolin sighs and rolls over once again, taking a peek at the pair though he knows he shouldn't. Mako has his back to Bolin and is deep asleep with Korra wrapped around him. Korra's face is striking in the moonlight, that pours in through the window, as her chin is nestled in the crook of his brother's neck. It pains him so, to look at her, and not feel her, to be so jealous of the man he's loved an looked up to for so long. But, so long as he's across the room from Korra's affection, he will always wish he could be in Mako's place instead. Though, he can't wish his feelings to anyone, especially Mako; he wouldn't want anyone to feel so wretched on the inside, so crushed and in utter despair from longing and jealousy. So, for now, Bolin turns over and tries to force himself to forget about the rest of the room. Pabu has curled up by his side, and for now, he'll accept what little warmth he can find.
I've done everything I can.
