A/N: A oneshot regarding Edmund and Lucy post-Dawn Treader. Hope you enjoy reading it almost as much as I enjoyed writing it :)
Trionfo is the Italian word for Triumph
Disclaimer: I do not own the Chronicles of Narnia. However the man who created it was a genius.
Trionfo
He sat there thinking, contemplating, and reminiscing about Narnia.
They had just returned from their latest and last ( for them) trip to Narnia.
Oh, how he mourned. Narnia was the first place he felt at home. Narnia is the place he belongs.
But he kept quiet around Aunt Alberta and Uncle Hubert. They wouldn't understand. He kept a cool demeanor around Eustace. But his cousin wasn't fooled. For one only had to look at his eyes for they were raging with emotions.
Only around Lucy did he let his feelings show. They wept together.
Oh his darling Lucy, his valiant younger sister. She was taking their return to Narnia the hardest. For she not only missed Narnia and the people, she missed Aslan. She missed Aslan the most.
Edmund owed Aslan everything. For the majestic lion rescued his from darkness, greed, and temptation. He gave his life for Edmund. Now Edmund would gladly lay his life down for the first ruler of Narnia.
As soon as they got home from Narnia, Lucy had broken down crying. Edmund had immediately cradled her in his arms, soothingly rubbing her back and whispering words of comfort in her ear, while shedding a few tears of his own.
Eustace looked at the pair of siblings with a sad, rueful smile and departed the room, leaving them in silence.
Eustace. Gone was the sniveling, whining coward and in his place was a changed person, one whom he was beginning to respect. His time as a dragon had changed him. Narnia had changed him. Narnia had changed them all.
Now a mere few hours later, stealing a few moment of solace, Edmund reminiscences about Narnia.
He had treated Lucy so badly before that. But even then they stuck together. During Narnia, the pair had become inseparable. They stuck close together. Where one went, the other wasn't far behind. The also made an excellent team. On the battlefield, each was powerful apart but together they were unstoppable. After Narnia, that attitude did not change. It may have gotten stronger. They were each other's favorite sibling.
She was the ever faithful lioness; she was his guiding light in the face of darkness. He was her protector; a voice of wisdom. She leaned on him when she needed comfort and she was always there when he needed comfort. The leaned on one another and they gained strength from each other. She would always come to him when she needed guidance, especially on things that Peter and Susan would not understand. He would always go to her for her opinion on one subject or another.
He knew he couldn't live without her.
So as she came to sit beside him, he wrapped his arms around her and enjoyed the comfort she provided.
Aslan said that he had another name in this world.
They would find it.
Together
And they would treasure the moment they meet Aslan again. As he said they would.
Together
For together they are the Just and Valiant monarchs; side by side.
And they will emerge triumphant
Together
*Fin*
A/N: That was longer that I expected ;)
