I really, really like Songfics. This is Holy Tears by Tara Maclean. This is also form that Songfic website.
Without Further Adieu,
Wrapped inside a twisted world
I can't decide what is even real anymore
as though I ever knew
Tangled in these silhouettes
floating face down in a river of regrets
and thoughts of you
Angel was laying on her bed. We found her in the rubble after the explosion. Her golden blond locks of hair were dirtied with sweat and blood when we found her, and her face was covered in red. I was the one to clean her body up. Now, she looked as if she was just asleep.
Holy tears
they linger on
Holding you
my light
forever gone
Angel was so innocent before the School interfered. It all started with her going strawberry picking. She was so good and young before Ari kidnapped her. Her blond hair always framed her face like a halo before that.
You believed she'd never leave
Rosy cheeked and oh so young
and full of flame
Here in this bed of emptiness
Button by button I come undone
and only twenty-one
I was dressing her for her funeral now. I unbuttoned her bloodstained pink shirt and winced as it stuck to her skin as a particularly nasty cut on her abdomen. The cut was deep because a rock had flown at her and pierced her heart. The killing blow. I sobbed at the sight of it.
I dressed her in her favorite hot pink Tutu and a white T-shirt with the word Angel printed on it with a flourish. I remember the day we had picked that out. We were shopping at Walmart and Angel had just been so excited to see a shirt with her name on it that we just had to get it.
Holy tears
they linger on
Holding you
my life
forever gone
I picked her up and clutched her like she was my lifeline. She was my baby. I didn't know how to exist without her. I'd always had the strongest bond with her. Not even my relationship with Fang came close. There was nothing stronger than the bond between mother and daughter.
Gone like the broken words at your feet
You're gone in the venom lips that kiss me sweetly
Gone like a frightened bird into the sky
Won't you take everything I ever had
and leave me to die as I cry
My tears wet Angel's cold, pale face as I sobbed. Her eyes were closed indefinitely. I'd never again see her eyes like crystal, Cancun waters. I'd never again hear her silky voice that rang like bells. I'd never again hear her mind speak echo in my head. I'd never again take her warm, soft hand in mine.
Holy tears
they linger on
Holding you
my love
forever gone
"I love you, Angel." I whispered over her corpse, "I love you."
