Not Mine. Review please. This is my first Nurse Jackie fanfic.

Mothers Make Mistakes.

"Congratulations O'Hara," Grace said kissing her adoptive aunty on the cheek.

"You know sweetheart, you can call me Eleanor," the exhausted but happily content woman said lying back in the hospital bed.

"really? Mum doesn't even call you Eleanor." The thirteen year old pointed out.

"She does sometime Grace. Although while we're talking about her; you do know how much your mother loves you right?" Eleanor asks her best friend's oldest child. She never totally understood the worry that was always going through Jackie's mind but now that she has a baby of her own she understand completely.

"I suppose. I mean she finally listened and let me go to public school."

"There's no I suppose about it. She loves you and Fi more than anything in the world. Oh and the whole catholic school thing; that was partly me. I did tell her catholic schools offer better education."

"She's made her mistakes though?"

"She's done her time as well."

"Is that enough though. She's a drug addict."

"A reformed drug addict."

"Still."

"I understand your point of view. Really, I do," Eleanor assured the girl, "I also know however what it is to have 2 really terrible parents. My dad worked too much and was always too far away and my mother was an alcoholic who ran off with my boyfriend and married him on my 25th birthday."

"That would have sucked."

"Too right it did," O'Hara agreed, "And it's not just my parent that have hurt me. Poor Zoey- her father's in jail for Man Slaughter. At least Jackie never killed anyone." Well, she sort of nearly did kill someone, but Grace really doesn't need the story of the night her mother decided to get sober. "Your mother loves you and your sister more than anything. Even more than she loves me and we're like sister."

"She doesn't let me do anything," Grace argues, "She won't let me wear makeup. She won't let me have a boyfriend. She won't let me do anything."

"Let's make a deal when I get out of here and can move around without wincing- so in a few weeks- I will teach you how to wear makeup?"

"What do I have to do for you? If it's a deal than what do you want in return?"

"I only want you to be good to your mother. Play nice and play kind. She loves you and she only does those things because she so scared of you growing up too quickly. Also don't pick between parents. Love then both equally" O'Hara told the thoughtful young girl, "Deal?"

"Deal."

"Well let's hug on it." O'Hara outstretched her long arms wrapping them around the 13 years she'd come to love almost as much as her own. She loves those two girls and their mother more than anything and now with the husband out of the picture she'll be able to dedicate more time to them.

"Thanks O'Ha- I mean Eleanor."

"I love you and your sister very much you know."

"I know," the girl assured the older woman, "I better get going. I can see Fi waiting outside wanting to see you." The precious 11 year old was bouncing on the vballs of her feet waiting to her adoptive Aunt.

"Okay, send her in sweetheart," O'Hara asked but just as Grace opened the door O'Hara called her back for a second, "And Gracie- your 13; you don't need a boyfriend."

The End.

I know it's short but let me know what you think. If you like I might do a second chapter on teacher her how to do the make up or something. Review and Be Kind.
