Hey, guys, my name is Kung Fu Coffee- not literally- and this is the first time that I've posted on . Note the words on . I've posted countless stories on other websites, but I'm not gonna relate. Anyway, I noticed that there were only a few stories for the book Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie Tolan, and since this is one of my fave books, I thought that I'd contribute. Actually, that's why I joined the site. Thank you, and enjoy!
ED'S POV
I was sitting on the porch of Wit's End, awaiting the arrival of three students for their home school- namely Creative Academy. Two out of the three had never been there. The other was a delinquent turned good. His name was Jake Semple, and he was always looking for a chance to tease ED. Considering how much ED had changed in the time period that she hadn't seen Jake, well, things were going to be very trying for ED and her temper.
For one thing, I had been sent to summer camp, which was an all girls camp, and as a result I was, frankly, more girlish. I wore tighter clothes ( skinny jeans, cardigans, leggings, short skirts, and tight-ish shirts), put on small amounts of makeup (lip gloss, and skin-toned eye shadow), and was always clad in at least five pieces of jewelry- her favorites being large, chunky rings, simple necklace chains, and suede, intertwined strings of leather that were fastened together to form bracelets.
To give Jake credit, he had changed, as well. In the short amount of time that ED had known Jake, he'd gone from a fire-loving delinquent to a Broadway-worthy show tunes belter (AN: is belter a word?).
"ED, THEY'RE HERE!" Archie Applewhite yelled, disturbing the Applewhite clan. "YOUNG LADY, COME AND GREET YOUR NEW CLASSMATES!" ED sighed. Archie had never been one for subtly. So, I slid off of her chair and walked calmly outside. Directly in my path my youngest brother, Destiny, who was hugging Jake like his life depended on it.
" Jake! I'm so glad you're here, cuz I really wanna go feed the goatsies, and Daddy says that I wasn't gonna until you came, so I waiting for you to come. Let's go see the goatsies!" Destiny babbled.
"So I WAITED, Destiny! What has ED been teachin' you, huh?" Jake teased, partially Destiny, partially ME. I rolled my eyes. Somehow, Jake looked… cute. Not extremely cute, but still cute.
"Hey, Jake! That's a nice greeting you gave me!" I replied. He winked at me. Suddenly, I realized that there were two other people who had gotten out of Archie's old, dinged up car. I knew who they were. These two, snobbish-looking people were the oh-so-famous Whites, whose exquisite taste did not think that any public or private school was good enough for them. Oh no. They had to go somewhere famous. And boy was the Creative Academy, not to mention Wit's End and the entire Applewhite family- Jake was considered an Applewhite- famous. So, we got landed with these two brats. Really made my day when I found out. Winston never really forgave the fact that I had spat a mouthful of coffee all over him-and Destiny, but HE forgave me. Anyway, these kids were just standing there, staring, until…
"God, stink much? This place smells like a dump, and looks like one, too," the girl complained to Jake. She obviously had a crush. Destiny, Jake and I all froze, then looked at the girl with rage in our eyes.
"Excuse me?" Jake asked, dragging out his words.
So, the first installment of "Complicated". Did you like it? Is there anything wrong with my writing? Please let me know! You can't complain to yourself if you don't do anything! Thanks once more! - KFC aka, Kung Fu Coffee
