A/N: Takes place during the Season 2 finale. Lucrezia tells Juan that baby Giovanni is going to be baptized.

Juan looked up as his little sister approached him. Lucrezia's lips curved in their usual angelic smile, but Juan saw the hard look in her eyes. "I have happy news, brother."

"Oh?" he said, suspicious.

"Our Holy Father has decreed Giovanni is to be baptized!"

"And you've come to ask me to be the Godfather?" Juan sneered.

"Our brother Cesare will be my baby's Godfather. He is here in Rome, while you are so far away lately…" The word 'banished' hung unsaid between them. "But isn't it fortunate that you could be here for this family event?" Here to be nothing more than a spectator…

And his sister knew them – knew how competitive they were. She'd know that even if he didn't want to be Godfather, he'd hate that Cesare was given that honor when he wasn't. That wasn't why she'd made Cesare Godfather, but it was why she was here making sure he knew Cesare was Godfather.

"I have preparations to make, but will see you there," Lucrezia said. With a smile, she turned and left. Her tone had been soft and sweet for the brief conversation. Honeyed poison.
