Chapter 2: My Escape

I waited anxiously by the cell door; waiting for an orderly or a doctor to come check on me, so I could make my escape. I wasn't about to charge out there without any protection, and I knew that at least with an orderly I could grab some kind of weapon off of them. Plus, my cell door was locked anyway, and I wasn't gonna bang or hit the door in order to open it; that would cause attention. (I'll already be causing enough attention as it is.) I was going to wait it out and let them come to me.

Just then, there was a knock on my door.

"Miss Klammer?" A male orderly voice asked.

I held my breath as he unlocked the door to open it.

This is it! I thought.

The door opened and the man peered inside. He looked down at the floor where my straightjacket was.

"How did you-"

I quickly jumped on top of his back, placing my hand over his mouth. He tried to fight me off, but I held on tight as I reached my hand into his pockets, searching for a weapon. My fingers touched what felt like the handle of a gun. I quickly grabbed onto it, then pulled it out of the orderly's pocket. I held the loaded gun to the man's head.

"What's the quickest way out of here?" I demanded.

I slowly moved my hand away from his mouth, allowing him to speak. Bad idea.

"Leena Klammer is on the loose! I repeat, Leena Klammer's trying to escape!" He yelled.

I quickly shot him before he could say anything else, but I already knew the word was getting out. The room and hallways would be filling up with authorities, all looking for me.

Fuck!

I ran out into the hallway, gripping the gun tightly in my hand. I was prepared to shoot anything and anyone who stepped in my way. I made a dash over to the elevator and quickly pressed the button; waiting for the doors to open.

"There she is!"

I looked to my left to see the female orderly I hated the most, pointing in my direction. Without giving it a second thought, I shot the bitch in the heart. I smiled as she fell to the ground; a small puddle of blood started forming around her.

That's what you get when you fuck with, Leena Klammer!

I decided that the elevator was taking too long, so I hurried over to a door leading to the stairs. My heart beat raced from the pure adrenaline and fear. I could not get caught! There was no way I was going to be locked away in this prison forever! I began running down the stairs as fast as I could. To my surprise, no one was following me. But I knew they were looking for me.

I made my way down to the basement. I smiled when I saw that the door in front of me was an exit. As soon as I pushed it, a loud ringing sound echoed throughout the building.

Shit! I triggered the alarm system!

I opened the door anyways. I was too far ahead to stop now. I ran outside into the streets. Taking in a deep breath, I savored what fresh air felt like. I was in that fucking Institute for so long; I had forgotten what being outdoors felt like. My moment of sweet serenity was ruined by police sirens.

I quickly began to run down the busy street. Cars zoomed and served passed me; honking their horns in anger. But I didn't give a shit about them, I was too worried about the police cars chasing me. And the way the sirens grew louder, I knew they were on my trail, or close to it.

I turned on a street that headed into a dark alley. I soon stopped running and sighed in relief as I realized I was alone. I looked around at my surroundings. To my left was a brick wall, with nothing but dumpsters and trash lined up against it. To the right was basically the same thing; a brick wall, surrounded by trash and dumpsters. Except on this wall there was a door, leading into some kind of abandon shop or something. As I got closer, I realized it was some sort of costume or Halloween store. I looked behind me to make sure I still wasn't being followed by the cops. When I saw that the close was clear, I opened the door, which happened to be unlocked, and stepped inside.

The store was dusty and crowded with nothing but stupid Halloween decorations and old costumes. It was obvious that no one had been here in years. A smile crossed my face as I realized this would be the perfect place to hide out for a while. Those stupid fuckers wouldn't even think to look in here!

I continued to slowly walk through the small store. I stopped when something caught my eye. In front of me stood a whole row of old dresses. Each dress looked as if it was from the 1800's or something. For the hell of it, I grabbed one and tried it on.

I walked to the back of the building where I spotted a mirror hanging on the wall. I stared back at my reflection. The plaid, dark blue dress made me look more childish than ever. It completely covered up my womanly development and curves. If I had my hair fixed up and a little makeup, I would've looked like a nine year old girl.

I began laughing when it hit me; this would be a perfect disguise. . .
