Chapter 1
"You ready?" Hermione asked Rose, who was gripping her mother's arm.
"Yup." Rose replied and inhaled.
"Lets go." The two held on each other, and ran through the platform barrier. Rose looked around the corner, a steaming red train was sitting there. It was steaming out white smoke and the horn blew.
"Wow." Rose said under her breath in astonishment. Hermione smiled at her and eagered her to walk forward. Ron and Hugo followed them just a few steps behind. Rose gaped at the sight of how many people were there. There was students in all sorts of uniform. Red and yellow, green and silver, yellow and black and blue. They were of all ages, they held on to broomsticks and held their owls. Four people began to walk towards the Weasley's. It was the Potter's; Harry, Ginny, Albus and Lily
"Hello." Ginny waved as they got closer.
"Hello aunty Ginny." Rose smiled and hugged her. Lily was tugging at her father's suit. He looked down.
"Now come on, Lily. You know that people only get to go to Hogwarts when they come of age." Harry sighed.
"Just another two years." She jumped up and down.
Ron looked around and stared at a man with blonde hair. A lady with black hair held onto his hand, and a boy with the same coloured hair was standing beside the man.
"That's the Malfoy's." Ron pointed out to Rose. Rose looked over at the young boy, their eyes locked on each other's for a few seconds then looked away, "They go anywhere near you I'll kick their - -"
"Ron!" Hermione yelled before he got to finish. Hugo snorted, Hermione glared at him and he looked down. Ginny shook her head and smiled.
"How are you?" Hermione asked Ginny, looking back up.
"Oh I'm fine. I miss the Holyhead's though." Ginny sighed.
"Well yes, maybe you should do some articles about Quidditch in the Daily Prophet? You'd be very good at it." Suggested Hermione..
"Oh yeah maybe."
"What time is it?" Hermione looked at her watch, it was five to eleven, "You should board the train, Rose." Rose nodded and hugged her mother, "Have fun."
"I will mum." Rose turned to her father and hugged him, "Bye dad."
"Bye, Rose." Ron smiled and kiss her head. Rose, Albus and James boarded the train and looked out of the window. Their parents waved, the three waved back. The train began to move slowly the wind began to fly into Rose's face, it pushed her fringe back she squinted and pulled her head back in. She dragged her suitcase along the hallway of the train.
"Albus? Where did you go?" She whispered. Albus jumped from behind a corner.
"Come on, in here." He said to her and showed her an empty compartment.
"Wow, I'm so excited." Rose said happily, and pulled her case in the overhead storage. James ran in.
"Teddy and Victorie were snogging!" He yelled. A tall boy with fiery red hair ran after him.
"Come back here, James! You little turd!" Teddy yelled looking in every compartment. James stepped in the compartment that Albus and Rose were sharing, he slid under the seat. Teddy ran in.
"Where is he?" He gasped.
"Where is who?" Albus asked trying to look innocent.
"You know where he is. James, come out wherever you are!" Teddy yelled again. He grumbled and stepped out once he looked around. James came out from underneath the seat.
"Phew, thanks, Albus." James hit Albus's shoulder then sat down.
"Yeah no problem." Replied Albus.
"Good luck this year, first year is always the worst."
"Oh great." Rose rolled her eyes. She then stood up and grabbed a book out of her case. She sat and began to read.
"What are you reading?" James asked.
"Hogwarts: A History." She replied flipping a page, "Mum suggested it to me."
"Forget I asked." James put his hand up. There was a quiet knock on the compartment door, it opened. The boy with blonde hair was standing in the door way. He coughed.
"May I sit down?" He asked nervously. Rose looked at James, James looked at Albus and Albus looked at Rose.
"Er, yeah. I suppose." Albus replied unsure. The boys smiled and sat down next to Rose.
"I'm - -" He begun.
"Yeah we know who you are. Scorpius Malfoy." James sniggered. Scorpius turned a little red.
"So you know?" He asked.
"Who wouldn't recognise you? I mean Draco Malfoy's son. Seriously." James said in a rude tone.
"James please. That isn't necessary!" Rose said to James, closing her book, "I'm Rose by the way, Rose Weasley." She put out her hand. He shook it, then pulled away.
"Weasley. I'm guessing you two are Potter's?" Scorpius grumbled. They nodded.
"Yes, and if you have a problem I suggest you leave." James said to him in his angry tone, and glare at Scorpius/
"Why would I have a problem, with a - - Weasley and Potter's?" Scorpius struggled to say and returned the glare.
"Boys stop it." Rose sighed. The boys stopped glaring at each other. She rolled her eyes.
The train eventually became to get a bit slower as the night sky began to settle in. Rose returned into the compartment with her black robes on. Scorpius smiled at her, but looked away, when Albus coughed. When the Hogwarts Express stopped they got off the train and huddled in a small group. James left the three and went in the opposite direction.
"Firs' years this way!" Yelled a deep voice. Albus turned around and saw an eight foot man standing in front of him. He had a big black grubby beard, and long messy black hair.
"Come on firs' years, follow me!" He yelled. A giant group of new students followed him. He lead them to a bunch of row boats.
"All righ'! No more then four to a boat." He yelled out. Everyone got into a boat, "Forward!" The boats suddenly began to move forward through the water. The moonlight shined off of the glistening cold lake. Rose looked in the water, a giant red squid arm gave her a slight wave. She smiled. Albus looked up at the giant castle in front of him. The lights were shining and the white mist was sitting at the top of it. The boats finally came to a stop and they all got off. The man lead them up some steps and they entered the castle. When everyone reached the top a lady with emerald green robes stood in front of them all. She gave Albus and Rose a slight nod before she began to talk.
"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now in a few moments you will be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She said and then walked away.
Within another five minutes the giant oak doors opened and the students walked through the door. There was four long tables that went all the way up the hall, each holding hundreds of students. There was candles floating in the air and professors sitting at the other end of the hall.
"Gather around here please." The lady that they'd just met said. She was standing beside a four legged stool, with an old hat on the top of it.
"Now, I will call your name, you will come forth, I will place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses." She held up a scroll and began to list off names. Every few seconds the hall would be filled with the name of a house, and then a giant applause.
"Malfoy, Scorpius." She yelled. Scorpius smiled at Rose and stepped forth then sat on the stool. She put the hat on his head.
"Hm, Slytherin!" Yelled the hat. A table began to applause and he ran over to it.
"Potter, Albus." Said the lady. The entire hall went silent and all eyes were upon him. Albus walked over to it nervously then sat down.
"Gryffindor!" It yelled straight away. The Gryffindor table erupted with applause. He shook many hands and sat down.
"Weasley, Roseanne." She yelled once more. Rose turned slightly red but made her way over to the chair.
"Another Weasley! I know exactly where to put you! Gryffindor!" The hat yelled, the Gryffindor erupted with applause again. Rose glanced over at Scorpius, he looked a little disappointed.
Four years later
Rose smiled as she remembered that day. It had been four years since then and herself, Albus and Scorpius had became the Golden Trio. She looked around the platform for any sight of Scorpius or Albus. She turned a corner and ran into someone.
"Oh sorry!" She gasped and looked up, it was Scorpius hovering over her, "Oh hey, I was looking for you. I haven't seen you all holidays!" She hugged him.
"I'm sorry, we was extremely busy all holidays, you know. Family stuff." He sighed and let go of Rose.
"Oh alright, lets go and find Albus." She suggested. The two came out from the corner and looked around the platform. A girl with red hair walked over.
"Hello Rose, Scorpius." She nodded.
"Hello, Lily. Seen Albus?" Rose asked.
"Um, last time I saw him was just like then." She looked around, "Over there talking to dad." Lily pointed to the boy with glasses.
"Oh thanks." Rose smiled. Scorpius followed Rose over to Albus.
"Hello Rose, hello Scorpius." Harry said looking at them.
"Hey Harry. Hello Albus, excited for another year at Hogwarts?" Rose smiled.
"Not really, exciting." Albus smirked. Harry raised his eyebrow. Ginny walked over and rubbed Harry's shoulder.
"You should all be heading off. The train will be leaving in four minutes." Ginny suggested. Ron and Hermione walked over.
"Shouldn't you all be on board? Hugo is already on." Hermione asked the kids.
"Hello, Albus." Ron smiled at him, he turned to Scorpius and nodded, "Scorpius." Ron didn't bother to make eye contact. Hermione rolled her eyes.
"Alright, bye everyone." Hermione said, and hugged Rose.
"Bye." They all said in unison. Albus, Scorpius and Rose waved and boarded the train.
The ride to Hogwarts went really fast. Before they all knew it they were off the train, in the hall and began to feast.
"So how was your holiday, Lily?" Rose asked her, grabbing some chicken wings.
"Yeah it was alright, except. Had to put up with those two the entire time." Lily replied, looking at Albus and James.
"Well, you lived!" Rose chuckled.
"I suppose so." She shrugged. Within another hour most people had cleared out. Rose, Scorpius and Albus usually wait until last, so they can catch up before the term begins. There was only a few fifth years and some other students left at the Gryffindor Table. Scorpius walked over to Rose and Albus, and sat down.
"Hello. Enjoy dinner?" He asked, taking the last chicken wing.
"Was brilliant, as usual." Rose smiled.
"Always is." Scorpius smiled and began to eat it.
"Can't believe that we have stupid O.W.L's this year." Moaned Albus.
"I'm excited." Rose said.
"Yeah, well you're Rose Weasley. I'm Albus Potter."
"Very funny." Rose replied sarcastically.
"We'd better go." Scorpius suggested after another half hour, "It's already ten o'clock, and curfew was like an hour ago."
"Great, we're going to set the record for earliest rule breaking." Rose sighed.
"Nope, that was dad actually. Was late, and showed up in no uniform." Albus said wiping his hand and stood up, "Lets go." Scorpius and Rose stood up and followed him, they walked to the Grand Staircase and Scorpius stopped.
"See you tomorrow." He yawned and began to walk down to the dungeons.
"Night, Scorpius." Rose said, and walked up with Albus to Gryffindor Tower. They entered the common room and checked the notice board.
"I'm on rounds tomorrow night, you?" Rose asked Albus examining it.
"Nope. I'm on Thursday." Albus replied scrolling down the list. Rose walked away from it and sat herself on the chair.
"How tough do you think the work is going to be this year?" Albus asked her, walking to the fire.
"Not too hard." She yawned.
"Yeah, says you."
"Well, maybe if you put in as much effort as me, it wouldn't be that hard!"
"That would be insanity, Rose. No one could stand that much work, except for you."
"If you tried to." Albus rolled his eyes at her comment.
"I'm going to bed." He said stretching and began to walk up to the boy's dormitory. Rose sat in the chair, listening to sound of the rain softly hitting the roof, just watching the flames burn off the wood.
The next morning she found herself waking up at six in the morning. She slipped on her gown and slippers and went down to the Common Room. Lily was sitting at a desk reading a book.
"Morning, Lil." Rose yawned, and sat down next to her.
"Oh, good morning, Rose. Have a nice sleep?" She asked, not taking her eyes off the book.
"It was, perfect." Rose looked off into the distance, staring at the wall. She thought about the dream she'd had. Herself and Scorpius hanging out.
'Wait! Why do I even care that I hang out with Scorpius?' Rose thought to herself, and straighten her back.
"Sorry, was thinking." Rose said concerned, when Lily began waving her hands in front of her face.
Albus walked down the stairs yawning and ran into the wall. Lily laughed.
"There's a wall there, Albus." Rose chuckled.
"Very funny." He replied sarcastically and held his head, "Ow, that hurt. Do I have a bump?" Rose squinted and looked at his head.
"Nope." Rose said looking back at Lily, "So when did you get up, Lil?"
"Around four. I couldn't sleep." Lily replied, and continued to read her book.
"You'll be tired today."
"Oh well." Lily sighed. Rose looked around at the notice board. She couldn't help but wonder when Quidditch Trials were going to be held.
"I was checking as well." Albus smiled, coming back over from the board.
"Not on yet?" She asked, he shook his head. Another five minutes James came sliding down the stairs.
"Tried to get into the Girl's Dormitory?" Lily asked not looking up from her book.
"You know me to well." He chuckled and wiped his robes.
"Why are you dressed?" Rose asked James, who was making his way over to the door.
"Going to go and er see someone." He stuttered and blushed.
"Not a girl by any chance?" Albus asked trying not to laugh.
"Yes, but im not telling you who." He replied. James turned around and left the Common Room.
"Most likely Violet." Albus turned around and sat down beside Lily.
"I'm sorry, but who is Violet?" Rose asked confused.
"You know, Violet Grace from er Ravenclaw! He's been trying to get with her since well, we got here. Now that she broke up with some dude she was dating James is wasting no time." Albus spluttered.
"Oh, I didn't know he was actually interested in girls."
"Well, apparently he's liked her for like four years. Considering him being in his last year, and we got here in his third."
"Yes, I do know how to count, Albus." Rose looked at the time, "It's eight already. I'm going to go get dressed." Rose got up and went into the dormitory.
No one was in there. She sat down on the edge of her bed, and pulled out a little book from underneath her mattress. She opened it and looked; it contained photo's ever since her first year at Hogwarts. Mainly herself, Albus and Scorpius. She smiled as she flicked threw the pages. Rose put it back underneath her bed and put on her robes. There was a knock at the door, when Rose was doing her tie.
"Come in." She said. The door opened, and Lily walked in.
"Quickly! It's getting late, and I don't fancy a detention." Lily said.
"Doesn't matter to you, we aren't in the same class." Rose replied, looking into her rucksack.
"Oh well, I always wait for you. Or the other way around, same thing."
"Okay, I'm coming!" Rose put some books in her bag and they left the tower.
"What's the first lesson today, Rose?" Albus asked as they began to walk down the staircases.
"You should've checked your timetable." Rose sighed.
"Please, tell me." He replied pleading.
"Alright, we have Charms."
"Oh, thanks." He looked into his bag, "Uh oh."
"What have you forgotten this time?" Lily asked him.
"My over holiday homework." He winced, throwing his head back, "Great, this is perfect!" He suddenly looked at Rose, "Rose?"
"No!" She replied fast.
"Please?"
"Albus, I said no."
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?" Rose groaned, and pulled out some homework.
"Here, copy that." She chucked him some papers.
"Thanks, I owe you one."
"Mm." Scorpius walked up behind them.
"Morning everyone." He smiled.
"Morning Scorp." Albus said, writing down notes.
"Forget your holiday homework?" Scorpius guessed.
"You betchya." Albus replied, sticking his tongue out.
"Same here. Hey Rose I was wondering if - -"
"Albus, has it. Come on you three. We could probably fit in a ten minute breakfast." Rose replied, and pushed them all towards the direction of the Hall.
"I have to go. Bye you guys." Lily waved and left. Scorpius, Albus and Rose sat down. Although, Albus didn't eat, he kept scribbling down more notes.
"Hurry up, Albus. I need it to." Scorpius said to Albus, and dribbled.
"You two, are useless." Rose rolled her eyes, and took a bit of bread.
"I know right?" Scorpius smiled, and took Rose's homework off of Albus.
"Alright, lets go then." Rose suggested after another ten minutes. The three stood up and made their way out of the Hall and took a shortcut to the Charms classroom. They entered and sat down at a desk. Professor Flitwick was standing on a couple of books as usual.
"Morning children." He said wobbling on the books, "Now today we'll be practising the Fidelious Charm. Something beyond your age average, but considering this is O.W.L's year, a little start won't hurt."
The lesson seemed to go very fast, and nearly everyone had barely made any progress, even Rose.
"That sucked, I had no idea what he was going on about." Scorpius sighed as they walked out of the class.
"What, I have to go to the library." Rose said suddenly and pushed the boys in the other direction of what they were going.
"Why?" Albus and Scorpius both moaned.
"Because, I need to look for a book for potions." She said dragging them. They walked to the library and began to browse the shelves.
"Oh, and to answer your comment earlier." Rose said, picking up a book and examining it, "You should begin to listen more often, otherwise you'll never pass the exams. And they are going to come down hard on us, so you seriously concentrate."
"It won't be too hard." He scoffed. Rose raised her eyebrow, and checked out her book.
"You won't be saying that within the next few days. And I should begin to study. Yes." Rose replied, and they walked out of the library.
Albus was listening to the conversation between Scorpius and Rose, and suddenly ran into something. He looked in front of himself, nothing was there.
"Ow." Said a voice.
"Who's the- - James!" Albus realized. James threw the cloak off and showed his head.
"Mind?" He asked.
"What are you doing snooping about? And why do you have my cloak?" Albus asked, shoving the cloak in his pocket.
"Please can I have it?" James asked, jumping up and down.
"Not until you tell me what you're using it for."
"Was following Violet." James said quietly.
"Oh okay, but you can't have it." Albus, Scorpius and Rose began to walk to their next class.
Minerva McGonagoll, was sitting at her desk in her emerald robes. Rose and Scorpius sat down at a desk. She stood up and walked around beginning to talk.
"Now as you all know that this year is probably the most important year of education. Your O.W.L's are coming up and you need to study, hard. It is expected that you make them your priority." She begun. Scorpius snored, Rose hit his ribs, "Mr. Malfoy, would you like a detention?"
Scorpius looked up.
"No Madam." He shook his head.
"Well then, I suggest you listen." She said sternly. Albus laughed, and she turned her face to him, "Would you like to join him, Potter?"
"No Professor." Albus replied.
By the end of their transfiguration lesson, everyone was already over-loaded of homework. They finally had a break and the three headed down to the lake. Rose sat up against the tree and opened up a book, Scorpius lied down next to her and Albus just sat on the grass.
"Oh gotta go, sorry forgot something. See you guys later." Albus said and left.
"I have no idea how I'm going to survive this year." Scorpius sighed, and covered his face with his hands.
"I'm sure you'll be fine." Rose replied, putting her book down and looking out at the lake. The Giant Squid was swimming about, it gave Rose a little wave and went under the water again.
"Why does that squid like you so much?" Scorpius asked Rose, sitting up.
"I dunno. When I first came, when we went on the boats. It just waved to me." Rose shrugged.
"Okay, must've known you'd be...special." Scorpius smiled looking at her.
"Is that a good type of special, or a bad?" She asked him quietly.
"Definitely good. What would I do if you weren't around? Fail at everything." He replied laughing, then kissed her cheek. She turned red and smiled to herself.
"Lets go back up, class is going to start soon." He suggested. Rose picked up her rucksack, and they headed back up to the castle.
Albus met them at the Dungeons.
"Where've you been?" He asked, as Scorpius and Rose showed up.
"Down at the lake, why?" Rose asked.
"Lily, she was hurt by some Slytherin's." He panted.
"Slytherin's, aye?" Rose raised her eyebrow and turned to Scorpius.
"How was I meant to do anything? I was with you, and why would I attack one of my friends?" Scorpius replied, innocently.
"Whatever." Rose sighed, the potions class door opened and everyone went in.
"Afternoon everyone. Now today we'll be uh examining these potions, and creating the Draught of Living Death." Professor Slughorn said walking around, "Can someone tell me what this is?"
Rose put up her hand.
"Yes, Miss, Weasley."
"That one is Armortentia. The most strongest Love potion in the world It is rumoured it smells like whatever attracts each individual. For example I smell Spearmint toothpaste and - -" Rose began, then looked over to Scorpius, "And uh coconut shampoo?"
The class laughed a little, Rose turned red and stood back over to Scorpius and Rose.
"Alright, thankyou Miss. Weasley." Slughorn said, " Now you all have 2 hours to create Draught of the Living Death." Everyone went to desks and began to get ingredients. Rose walked over to the table herself Scorpius and Albus were sharing.
"Coconut shampoo?" Scorpius whispered in her ear.
"Shut up, that's what I smelt!" She replied, turning bright red. She turned around and went to get some ingredients. Scorpius ran his hands threw his hair, then smiled.
Later that day..
By four in the afternoon, the library was nearly full. Rose and Albus were sitting in a corner studying when James walked in with his arm around a ravenclaw girl. She was really pretty, she had brown hair and grey eyes. James gave Albus a thumbs up.
"That's Violet." Albus said, scrolling his finger up and down the paper.
"Oh, she's really pretty." Rose replied. She sighed and leaned against the wall, "I need to blow off some stress i'm going for a walk. You coming?"
"Nah, I'm going to do some more. Then I need to talk to James." Albus replied.
"Alright then. Bye." Rose picked up her books and homework then left the library. She was walking down the second floor corridor when she got pulled into a broom cupboard.
"What the?" She yelled, as she was pulled.
"Rose be quiet!" Whispered a voice, putting his hands over her mouth so she wouldn't yell. Rose pulled his hands off her and looked.
"Scorpius, what was that for?" She asked, inhaling deeply.
"There was something, that you needed to know." He stuttered.
"Couldn't this waited until tomorrow?"
"No, definitely not."
"Well, what is it then?"
Scorpius looked at her, then put his hands on her waist. She looked up at him surprised, and turned a little red. He leaned in slightly and pressed his lips against her. Rose didn't wait, she put her arms around his neck and continued to kiss him with passion. Scorpius pushed her up against the wall, and began to move his hand down further. She pulled away and looked at him.
"What are we doing?" She asked. Scorpius let go of her and walked backwards, "Look, this can't happen." Rose opened the door and stepped out, he followed her.
"Rose, why not?" He asked trying to keep up with her walking.
"It just can't happen. As much as I want to, it can't."
"Well, give me a reason why!" He protested.
"For starters, do you know what my father would say if he found out?" She scoffed.
"He doesn't have to find out, Rose. We could keep it a secret."
"We could, but eventually someone will find out and let the cat out of the bag! And what would everyone in Slytherin think of you? What will people think of me?" Rose said, putting her hands on her hips.
"Rose, I don't care what people in Slytherin think of me, none of my best friends are in Slytherin. They're in Gryffindor. I only care about what you think of me." He rubbed her cheek with his thumb. She still didn't look convinced. He sighed.
"Look, if you don't say yes, I'll kiss you right now for everyone to see." Scorpius smirked.
"But what if I get distracte- -" She stopped because Scorpius kissed her once more.
"You didn't think I'd do it, did you?" He asked pulling away.
"No I did not. Now lets just hope that no one saw that." Rose smiled.
"So it's a yes?"
"What do you think?"
"Yes!" He picked her up and swung her around, "Come on, I have somewhere for us."
"Not another broom cupboard? Because as much as I like quidditch, I don't really like spending my personnel time in there." She laughed.
"Very funny." He replied sarcastically, "This way." He pulled her along.
