A.N.: This story will be confusing for a while, so I'll apologize in advance for that. I do hope you still enjoy it.
Jessica and Keith were playing chess in the park. It was a very close game.
"So, do you wanna see The Odd Life of Timothy Green when it comes out?" Jessica asked. Keith shrugged and moved his bishop.
"Check," he said with a grin.
Suddenly, they were surrounded by darkness so that all they could see was the chessboard, each other, and a face that seemed vaguely familiar.
"Anomaly," Jessica growled, "Gamoto! Giati afto synechizoun na symvainoun? Dias mas misei!"
"Was that Greek?" asked the figure, "Could you do Spanish for your friend? He doesn't speak it."
"Maldita sea! ?Por que sigue pasando esto? Zeus nos odia!" Keith nodded, but still looked confused.
"Why do you hate Jesse all of the sudden?"
"I don't. That's not Jesse."
"Correct," said Anomaly, "And we are not in your dimension. This is the Shadow Realm." Jessica gasped.
"Does that mean- Will we have to-"
"Yes." She nodded tightly and turned to Keith.
"Jess, what in Hades is going on?" he asked.
"We need to pick which one of us goes into an evil dimension where we experience death in the way we fear it most over and over for all eternity."
"I'll do it," he offered.
"No! Not an option!"
"Why not?"
"Because there are ways of getting people out! I don't know them, but they exist!"
"Then you can get me out!"
"I'm the one who's doing this! You're smarter than me. You can find out. Besides, people will be willing to help you rescue me."
"Jess, I can't let you do this!" she sighed.
"Listen, we've got this empathy link. I don't completely understand it, but it's there. If you need to talk to me, you just say the chant from 'No Good Deed.' Okay?"
"Alright."
"Keith?" she asked, her voice getting higher.
"Yeah," he grabbed her hand, "What's up?"
"Don't give up on me, okay?"
"Never." She nodded. Her other hand went to her king and flicked it down. He felt her fingers slipping away from him. He was back at the park. She was gone.
"HEY, YOU GUYS!"
A.N.: I couldn't resist ending the chapter like that. I promise that more sense will come later on!
