For Ralinde's Pairing Diversity Boot Camp Challenge
Prompt: Glad Rags (Fashionable or stylish clothing, one's best clothing)
It was burnt into his memory, how she looked, how he felt. That whole beautiful, terrible night.
The moonlight seemed to entwine itself with her brown hair, showing streaks of gold he'd never noticed before. Curls fell across his face in a tangled mess, and more framed a face full of freckles and dimples, with one eye browner than the other.
A cool wind danced across their skin, tickling his nose with the smell of her mixed with the smell of the lake as she lifted her lips to his and his world melted into one fueled by passion and fire and years of yearning. Clothes slipped off and all he knew was the softness of her skin, the writhing of their bodies.
He didn't know where she ended and he began, he didn't want to know. He wanted to spend forever with her arms wrapped around his neck, feeling the rhythmical move of her body against his. Fuck everything they said about muggleborns, this was right, she was right.
Time was lost, it was hours of bliss taking place in minutes. It lasted forever yet it was over too soon. She was there one minute, gone the next. Just a shadowy figure creeping silently towards the school.
He searched for her the next day. Then the following day, and the one after that. Weeks flew by in a blur until he saw her again. A chance encounter. She was sat in the library, reading. Every essence of his being longed to stride over there, rip her clothes of and have his way with her right there, on the library floor.
As he approached her she looked up at him. Their eyes met, and his breath caught in his throat. Before he could speak she was on her feet, leaning into him, lips pressed against his ear.
"That night never happened." She pulled back slightly, staring into his eyes again. "You despise muggleborns, and I despise you. I was upset and I made a mistake, and nobody will ever find out." She sailed past him, and was gone.
Later in life he would say it was funny, how it wasn't a girl dressed in the finest silks, with eyes as deep and blue as the ocean, and hair the colour of a ray of sun or a raven's wing who he had fallen for. It wasn't a girl with blood as pure as his, a slytherin beauty with a cruel mindset and an even crueler heart.
No, the girl who stole his heart and shattered it into pieces, was a girl with tainted blood, a mess of tangles and curls for hair, and eyes as brown as a tree or dirt. A girl who didn't need the finest jewels or dresses to capture his eye, just a plain black robe and some gryffindor fire.
Not that he'd ever admit it to anyone.
