Monk stared at the small box in his hands. It was Trudy's ring had taped it to the bottom of her dresser drawer, and when he was cleaning today, he found it.

It was place he normally never would have looked, but after he noticed dust gathering by the dresser, he decided to clean all the drawers.

He stroked the box lovingly, remembering when he had opened it up and given the ring to Trudy. His eyes welled with tears at the remembrance of his beloved wife.

With shaking hands he opened the box to find a piece of paper folded very small. He opened it carefully and began to read.

My Dear Adrian,

I think I did a good job of hiding this somewhere where you would find it. It might have taken you a while, but if you're reading this, well, you must have found it. Haha.

This letter is in case anything ever happens to me, it's unlikely that anything will, but if something does, I want you to know how much I truly love you.

From the first moment I met you, I knew it was love, because I loved everything about you.

Your smile, your laugh, the way that you do everything that you do.

It captured my heart and wouldn't let it go.

My heart belongs to you forever and always.

But if I leave this earth before you, I want you to be able to love again. Even though it hurts me, I want someone else to be able to know the Adrian Monk that I know , someone else to love you and care for you if I am unable. You must open your heart to new possibilities Adrian.

He folded the letter and held it to his chest.

"Thank you Trudy." he whispered into the loneliness of his bedroom.
