She does not wish to upset him or agitate him in his fragile condition, and so she does not tell him she heard his plea, his entreaty, through the storm. They had been divided and still they had been intertwined, no circumstance could have suspended such an understanding, and intimate relationship. She does not tell him about hearing his voice at Moor House and yet she realises it has had a profound effect upon him.
After all only she could employ the enchantment of a companion and the healing of a mate for this extraordinary, absurd man.
