Location: New York. Year: 2015. Time: 18:19.

"Keep going!"

The voice commanded him and he could not object. He had a job to do and he would take it to heart. He didn't glance back but clenched his jaws tighter as he heard another explosion mixed with the sound of guns being shot.

He skidded to a stop and typed in the pass-code and entered the lab before sealing the room shut. He turned to his commander who hopped his way towards the control panels and started to type like a mad man.

His eyes stared at the large clear cylinder that stood at the centre of the room. He stared at it for a moment before tearing his gaze away from it and turned to his other two comrades who were panting. Slowly he approached one of them and pulled her into a hug, she immediately hugged him back.

"Promise me you'd be careful," She choked out, "Promise me."

"I promise." His reply was making her choke back her cry. They jumped as they heard large footsteps approaching them.

"Sam fifteen seconds and counting!" The older man called out, "Get in! We'll hold him off."

He pulled away from the girl who took a deep breath and stared at him before taking off her necklace and handed it to him.

"Take care of it." He clenched the necklace tightly and nodded his head. She stared at him a little longer before pushing him towards the cylinder, with one last longing look she turned back towards the door.

Sam stepped inside and watched as the glass door slid to shut. He closed his eyes trying to ignore the battle cry of his comrades before feeling as if he was eaten from the inside and then out.
