Years ago, there was a man. A Pirate who was known across the world as Gold Rodger. He was known across the world as the 'Pirate King' and his wealth and bounty out weighed any other. On the day of his execution, he announced that his fortune was up for grabs by anybody who wanted it. The thing was that they had to find it. With that, Pirates from across the globe headed for the Grand Line, searching for that treasure.
30 years ago, Gold Rodger's treasure was found by a Pirate known as 'Strawhat' Monkey D. Luffy. His crew traveled as deep as the New World, still dangerous to this day, and found the legendary treasure. 10 months later, Luffy was captured and sentenced to death. On the day of his execution, hooded men ran to the court yard and proclaimed:
"This is not the end of the end!"
"Strawhat's treasure is out there! Deep within the New World!"
"The era where men dream cannot end here!"
The hooded figures were never found, but all across the world, Pirates, once again, set sail for the Grand Line for One Piece: the fortune that was left behind by the 2nd Pirate King.
Today was a hot, sunny afternoon in East Blue, specifically in a small village known as Mandrake Town. The scorching hot weather made being outside almost unbearable, but they managed. Summer was always the worst on the island and the people accepted that fact as they did their afternoon duties.
"Stop him!" cried a Marine as a group of ten chased a man who was expertly running past and around people of Mandrake Town. He appeared to be a male, 19 of age, and wore a black top hat upon his head which he held on tightly. Under the hat, green haired could be seen peeking underneath as he dashed past people. "Desist immediately!"
"No way!" he cried as he shot his tongue at the Marines as he rushed to the beach of the island, where a row boat was left there by someone. Once the man stopped, it was easier to see his features by the Marines. The Marines quickly caught up with the man, all pointing rifles at the top hat wearing man without remorse. With the running over, it was a bit easier to see his features.
The man stood at 5'2 and he had dark blue eyes as well as a lean, tan body. He was wearing a black shirt with a grey leather jacket over it, light blue pants, and a pair of sandals. He had one hand on the rim of his hat, keeping it in place and a hand on a bag that he had slung over his shoulder.
"We've caught you, thief! Give back what you've stolen or we'll shoot!" one of the marines ordered. The thief in question looked at the people, his top hat shadowing his eyes as it made him look a bit scarier. Complimented with the wide grin on his face, he wasn't making him look any better.
"Ga hahahaha!" laughed the thief, which threw off the Marines greatly. What the hell was he laughing out?! "Sorry, it's just kind of amusing." he let go of his top hat and stuck out his hand, a green ball of fire appearing, "You people don't understand who I am at all." His voice seemed to grow a bit deeper, malicious sounding as the Marines stood their in shock.
"W-what the...sh-shoot him!" one of them cried, but the thief had tossed the fireball at them, the ball erupting into a large green flame that engulfed them all, the flames covering all of them as they fell onto the floor, rolling to put it out, but the fire not extinguishing.
"You all shall remember this day. For I am the Trickster! The Kitsune! Okashi Jango!" the man cried as he tossed the bag onto the rowboat, kicked it into the water and jumped on it as it sailed away. He could hear the men screaming in agony as the flame continued to cover them. Jango snickered as he wiped a few beads of sweat from his brow, "Better stop before I pass out." he snapped his fingers once his dingy was out of the range of the Marines rifles, the fire that had covered them quickly disappearing.
"W-w-w-what happened?!" asked one Marine as he sat up, checking his body for burns or wounds, but found nothing noticeable. Wasn't that fire real? Was it all just a trick?
"We have to report this to Marine Headquarters!" one shouted as they all rushed off by to the town.
Back on the row boat, Jango had opened the bag he had brought with him. Various foods from meat, cheese, and bread to sweets and snacks. There was also a bottle of wine he stole and a map.
"To think a simple illusion as 'Fox Fire Illusion' drained my energy so much." He grabbed a salami and immediately began to devour the meat, taking bite after bite as he consumed the food to keep up his strength. He laughed as he dug through the bag, grabbing an apple and shoveling it down with the meat.
(Funny. Isn't that how I am it is today?) he questioned as he released a chuckle. He closed his eyes as memories began to slip into his mind.
"Mom, I'm hungry." a young Jango groaned as he sat on the floor of the small house he and his mom lived in. They were poor, very poor, and his dirty yellow, tattered shirt and pants were evidence of that. His stomach growled hungrily as did his Mom's, but his Mom smiled.
"I know. Dinner is almost ready." his mother chimed. She was starving too, but the soup she was making was almost ready. The night seemed peaceful, so hopefully it would stay that way.
KNOCK KNOCK!
"Come in." the woman sighed. It was probably another tax collector. She dusted off her dirty dress, hoping to look a bit distinguished as she walked to the living room, in complete shock as to what she saw.
"Good evening ma'am. We were hoping to have a word with ya." Standing in her house was a man, a large man with a bushy red beard and matching red hair. He was incredibly built, standing at 6'8 with his body seeming completely made of muscle. He had one hand holding Jango by his head as he squirmed and struggled as three other men stood with cutlasses and pistols.
"W-what do you want?! What are you doing with my son?!" she shrieked A man responded by pointed a gun to his face, the screaming child suddenly quiet.
"Nothing. We're just here for some...uh...compensation." The large man told her.
"For what?!" she didn't mean to scream, she was just so scared.
"Your brat had eaten something of ours. A Devil Fruit. A very rare one known as the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kitsune." the red bearded man announced, Jango's mother's face turning pale. A Devil Fruit existing was not out of the ordinary, but that these Pirates had one, which Jango apparently stole, was a whole new level of scary.
"Anyway, we want compensation for it. But with the look of this shack of yours, I doubt you could buy us a piece of bread, let alone pay for it. So I think we know a better way for you to pay us back."
"What?! What is it?! Just please leave Jango alone!" she begged, tears sliding down her face as she saw her scared child, to scared to move or even cry as the gun's barrel was directed at his face. The red bearded man smirked as he signaled for his man to lower his gun. He quickly pulled out his gun and pointed it at the woman's face. With a dark grin, the man pulled the trigger and-
Jango awoke to a powerful fright as he arose on his row boat. He looked around and noticed that it was dark, which meant it was night. He scrambled for his top hat and placed it on his head. He swiped away the sweat on his forehead as he looked around into the night. Jango looked into the night sky and groaned.
"I guess there are some things you can't just laugh at..."
Fox Fire Illusion: Jango creates a ball of fire in his hand. He then tosses the ball at enemies as they're engulfed in fire. This attack, however, is an illusion, so nobody will truly be harmed. But they will believe they're actually being burned either until they realize it doesn't truly hurt or Jango drops it.
