Disclaimer: I don’t own Harry Potter as everyone knows!
A/N: Hey everyone! I haven’t written a story like this yet, so it should be fun. This is mainly about a father son relationship, as you might already know. Harry may go out with someone later on, so tell me who you think it should be in a review. Also, guess who Harry's real father is! Please take a moment to review my story once you’ve finished reading the chapter.
Chapter One
Summer with the Dursley’s was as boring as ever. Sirius had written a ‘letter’ to the Dursleys telling them that they were to feed him as much as he wanted, so Aunt Petunia had gotten sandwiches, which Harry ate almost everyday. Dudley managed to lose ten pounds, but then he had gained it all back in a celebration snack the next day. But the summer flew by, without any really cheerful visits from friends. He had only been in contact with them in letters, most of which delivered by Hedwig.
Ron’s parents who had gotten a new car from the ministry when Mr. Weasley was made head of the Department of Muggle Affairs, were going to be coming to pick him up any minute. He sat on the front steps, with his big Hogwart’s school trunk and Hedwig’s cage. After five minutes, Ron’s car pulled up. It was a new ministry car, and was larger on the inside. Ron jumped from out of the car to help him.
"Hey Harry!"
"Hey Ron!"
Harry added his trunk and luggage to the Weasleys and got in. Besides him and Ron, Fred, George, and Ginny were all in the back. Fred and George gave him wink and a hello. Ginny, who was beginning to overcome he shyness, said quickly ‘hi’. Mrs. Weasley gave him a motherly greeting and said that he was still all skin and bones. Mr. Weasley began to ask how the muggle post system worked, but Mrs. Weasley stopped him by asking him what he was working currently on in the Ministry.
The drive there was uneventful except for when Ginny’s hair suddenly turned purple when she ate some candy, which turned out to have been made by Fred and George. Mrs. Weasley scolded them and changed it back.
They met up with Hermione in the train. She was wearing her prefect pin, and looked very proud. Since she was a prefect, they had a whole box to themselves the way there.
They talked about how their summers had been. Hermione told them about her trip to Africa, which made her very tan. She also went on about how she couldn’t get into trouble that year since she was now a prefect.
The usual lady in purple-blue robes came with the cart full of snacks and candy. Harry bought licorice wands, Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, Chocolate Frogs, Cauldron Cakes, and some other candy to share with Ron and Hermione. To his surprise when he opened up his third chocolate frog, he found an unexpected card.
Harry Potter
There was a picture of him flying near the dragon with the golden egg safely in his hands, from the first task the previous year.
"Hey, it’s me!"
"Wicked Harry! You’ve got a card about you!"
"Yes, famous Harry Potter has a famous wizard card!" said the sneering voice of Draco Malfoy.
"Go away Malfoy, you’re not welcome here!" Harry said, standing up threateningly over the Slytherin enemy, since he had grown taller and now was four inches over Malfoy."
"Want to make me Potter!"
"Sure!"
Harry held his fist, which was more muscled then ever since he had ate more over the summer, and had worked out a lot.
Malfoy cowered back.
"Just remember that you can’t run from him forever Potter!"
That statement hit Harry hard. It reminded him of what had happened the night of the third task. He had told Ron and Hermione in a letter, not wanting to say it directly to them like he had done for Dumbledore.
"Don’t listen to him Harry." Hermione said.
"Yeah, nice threatening Harry!" Ron said with a smile.
The rest of the train ride to Hogwarts went by uneventful Neville’s new toad, Lucky, had showed up in their box, and he had been relived to find him.
They took the usual horse-less carriages to Hogwarts. Harry clapped with the other Gryffindors when the new first-years were sorted. Then with everyone but the Slytherins when Remus Lupin, his father’s old friend was announced that he would be returning as the Defense Against the Dark Arts job. Dumbledore gave his usual speech next.
"First Years should note that the Forbidden Forest is, exactly what it’s called, forbidden. Mr. Filch reminds me that no pranks should take place, or charming of inanimate objects to harm or follow people around the hallways. There is a complete list in his office. Next a note to all students; no student is to be out after dark without being accompanied by a teacher. Also, no student is allowed to walk around alone at any time. This is for your safety and protection against Voldemort’s returning."
This brought shock to the first years that hadn’t been there when Dumbledore had announced it at the end of the previous year. There were also looks of fear on almost everyone but Harry and many of the Slytherins. But since Dumbledore had finished, the feast began.
Harry stuffed himself at the feast, enjoying every minute of being back with his friends. Being glad that he wouldn’t have to go back to the Dursleys until the next summer.
After the feast, Hermione showed the first years around the Gryffindor common room, and they relaxed in the chairs. Being tired, Harry went up to bed, where all his stuff was. Ron fell asleep immediately, and Harry did to after a while. But his thoughts lingered on Voldemort’s return and all that had happened at the end of his fourth year. He still felt guilty for what happened to Cedric, and the dream of what had happened still haunted him some nights, but Sirius had written to him on several occasions saying not to, knowing that Harry was.
The next day, they had Transfiguration, History of Magic, Charms, and Potions last.
During Transfiguration they reviewed what they had learned in their forth year, and Harry didn’t have trouble with it. History of Magic made Harry want to fall asleep as Professor Binns reviewed things they had already had to sleep through before in previous years. Charms was the same, reviewing things they had already learned. After those three classes, harry was beginning to think that the teachers thought they forgot everything over the two months they had off. Harry had studied, wanting to make sure he knew everything, since there was little else he could do during the summer at the Dursleys.
But at Potions class, Snape quizzed them, on questions only Hermione knew the answers to. Snape used this as a way to deduct twenty points from Gryffindor, while giving Slytherin twenty for letting them answer questions any first year would know. They were given a three-parchment-roll essay to write on the uses of Unicorn horn in potions, which caused everyone to hate him even more.
Then they went to dinner. They all ate from being tired and hungry after a full day of work, even though most of it was boring. When dinner was over, Lupin caught up with Harry as he was exiting the Great Hall with Ron and Hermione, complaining about the day.
"Hey Harry."
"Hey Professor! How’s Snuffles?"
"You can call me Remus as long as it’s not around the other students. You’ll see soon enough. Albus want’s me to take you up to his office where he’ll meet us in a minute."
Remus looked slightly pale and anxious, not like he usually was even after a full moon, since he was a werewolf. Had he done something wrong Harry thought?
"Don’t worry your not in trouble, just something to uh… sort out."
Harry wondered what it would be. He told Ron and Hermione that he’d meet up with them later, and then he followed Remus. Harry enjoyed talking with Remus.
"How was your summer?"
"Fine, I didn’t have to suffer through Dudley’s diet again, since Sirius wrote the Dursleys a ‘loving letter’."
Remus laughed.
"How was your first day back then?"
"Boring mostly, though potions was awful."
"Severus’ classes are rarely enjoyed."
When they got to Dumbledore’s office guarded by a Gargoyle statue, Remus said the password.
"Hershey."
They climbed up the steps, and when they entered the office, Harry saw Sirius sitting in one of the chairs. Sirius stood up to greet them.
"Sirius!"
Harry ran over and gave him a hug. Sirius had always been like a father to him ever since the previous year. Sirius returned the hug, but his face was like Remus’ full of anxiety, and worry.
"What’s wrong?"
But Sirius didn’t answer, since Dumbledore came in just then. He sat behind his desk, and motioned them to take a seat. Harry sat between Remus and Sirius, who were both even more grave now. Dumbledore began to speak.
"Harry, there’s something we need to tell you. We would have told you earlier, but it was not something we could your first three years at Hogwarts, and in your forth year wasn’t the right time."
"What?"
"Sirius, do you wish to tell him?"
"Tell me what?" Harry asked.
Sirius nodded and turned to Harry.
"James wasn’t your father, Harry."
