Disclaimer: I don’t own anything about Harry Potter. Only my own ideas, but her lawyers can have those if they want.
A/N: Okay, a few of you guessed him, so he will now be revealed as Harry’s father. Oh, and I only got a few replies to who Harry should go out with. So right now it’s going to be Harry/Ginny later in the story. Have objections? Want someone else? Tell me then!
Chapter Two
Harry went white with shock, unable to speak. What did Sirius mean? How could James not be his father? Everyone said he took on after his father and mother? How could what Sirius just said be even remotely true? After a minute of sitting there in shock, not being able to say anything, Harry managed to speak.
"Who?"
Sirius swallowed and shifted his feet, and looked pale.
"I am." Sirius said slowly.
Harry felt even more shocked than he had ever before. Sirius, his loving godfather, just told him that he was his father! He had always known James to be his father, but then when Sirius just told him he was, he was completely mixed with feelings. He just wanted to think, so he sat there quietly without saying anything, but looked up when Sirius spole again.
"I’m sorry Harry."
Harry looked into his godfather’s eyes. They were filled with anxiety, worry, sadness, and fear. He realized that Dumbledore and Remus were no longer in the room with them. It was just he and Sirius.
"How?" Harry asked.
"Lily had always been with James. But in our seventh year, she fell in love with me. Being James’ best friend I couldn’t date Lily, and she knew that. So we met in secret at night sometimes. James never found out. But then the day we graduated, James asked Lily to marry him. After dating him for four years, she couldn’t say no and then go off with me. It would’ve broken his heart. So she said yes. Then, the next day, James was working with Albus through the night. Lily showed up at my house. She cried, we talked for a while, and then we… slept together." Sirius said shaking.
He stopped for a moment, still shaking slightly.
"Lily resolved to then stay with James. She asked to have the marriage earlier, the next month. She found out that she was pregnant with you then. She was sure I was your father Harry. But James didn’t know. He thought you were his. They got married, and James made me his best man. It killed me, keeping it a secret from James. Then Lily had you, Harry. Lily and James made me your godfather."
Sirius paused for a minute.
"But once you were born, you looked more like Lily, which made up for you being my son. The hair was something James and I both had. Since, James and I were distantly related, which only some people knew. You grew up to be one, and Lily never came to me again. We resolved to just be friends. Then you know what happened after that. We couldn’t tell you in your early years of school, since I was in Azkaban. Then at the end of your third year when we met up, I couldn’t tell you then. In your fourth year, I couldn’t bring myself to tell you. So I promised myself that I would tell you this year, and now I have. I’m sorry Harry, I’ll never be the father you thought about."
Harry looked over at Sirius. He sat with his head resting in his hands. He looked as if his heart had broken telling him this. Silent tears stung in his eyes. Harry thought. He had no memories of the one year as a baby he had lived with his parents that were now dead. He had no found memories of loving parents, or a family that cared for him.
Ever since the end of his third year, Sirius was the only real fatherly figure who he knew. He had wrote to Sirius several times, and Sirius helped him throughout his forth year. Harry never knew his father, so accepting Sirius, as this wasn’t as hard as he thought it would be, though it was so shocking to him. Maybe Sirius could replace the father he had never known, or the father people had always compared him to.
"I’m so sorry Harry, I know I’ll never be able to become the father you’ve thought off and…"
"Sirius… dad…"
Harry had done it. He had called Sirius his father, and had accepted that Sirius was his truly that father he had wished for. He looked at Sirius before continuing. He could see that there were tears in Sirius’ eyes.
"I’ve always wished and dreamed about having parents. I’ve wished and dreamed about having family too. I’ve always silently wished I could have someone related to me other than the Dursleys, so that I would have a real family, who actually loved me. I never knew James, I was only one when he died, so I have no memories of him. But you, Sirius, dad, I’ve known you since the end of my third year. You’ve been the only one I could ever really talk to about stuff. So, it’s okay that you’re my father Sirius, your what I’ve always wanted…"
Harry made no effort to wipe away the silent tears that stung as they fell down his face. Sirius didn’t either, but looked at Harry, his eyes filled with tears.
"I know I’m not the father you dreamed about Harry. I’m a innocent criminal on the run."
"Don’t you see? I don’t care if you’re on the run. You’re my father Sirius, someone I’ve always wanted. You’ve been the only one I could talk to like one."
Sirius stood up and brushed the tears away from his eyes. He pulled Harry into a fatherly hug. Harry relaxed after a few seconds. This was unlike a Mrs. Weasley hug, where he knew it was motherly, but this was a hug from someone who was his father, the father he had always wanted.
