Andy wiped the look of terror off her face, just as the stage lights illuminated her face for the crowd.

"How's everybody doing tonight?" She asked the lounge as she took her seat in front of the piano. "This is a song I wanted to dedicate to someone special."

Knowing full well that that someone wasn't him, Nick smiled at his partner from behind the bar, as he poured shot after shot for the customers in the VIP lounge. Only he wasn't Nick, and she wasn't Andy. They were Heather and Daniel Mason. Happy couple who loved travel and just hadn't found the right place to settle down yet.

"I got troubles that I can't hide
So many and it's turning on the inside out
I know a man's nature
There's nothing you can save here
Me, I run every time
We got two tickets but the one way
And I went with it so I can't say no
I lit a fuse I can't stop
I opened doors I can't lock
Still, I never meant to be this close

And let it slip away
I keep stumbling till I finally miss the last train
Ooh, he's ready, I'm not ready
I hear people go crazy for steady
But me, I run every time

So I told her get a head start
Like the last one I didn't have the heart
To tell him straight
I know how he'll receive it
And I can't bear to see it
That's why I never meant to be this close

And let it slip away
I keep stumbling till I finally miss the last train
Ooh, he's ready, I'm not ready
I hear people go crazy for steady
But me, I run every time"

As she sang the words on autopilot and her fingers ran over the keys like it was second nature, her brain went to Sam. Andy knew she wouldn't be able to shake the thought of him till she had sung the song. Every time it worked. She'd be driving Nick to his day job, in the Harrisons ship yard, where he was working the case, and a song would come on the radio that attached itself to Sam. Not every day, but often enough. So she'd go home, learn the song and prepare it for her evening set at "Aveda", Harrisons club. His second business; where the waitresses worked in exchange for coke, and his boys were the dealers. It was actually a very tight run business, and the only way Andy could get away with undercover, was being one of his clean songbirds. He wanted them looking perfect and have consistent attendance. Luke and her handler had no idea the only opening was for a singer, but thankfully she'd had some amateur practice in school choir, and her shower. That was something Luke remembered all too well, despite his efforts to forget.

"Luke, I'm no performer, I get sick when I have to address more than five people. How can I get on a stage every night?" She'd whined when she found this out after two days undercover.

"You have to do it Andy, you have no choice. You'll do fine. Just practice, practice, practice for your interview or audition... whatever. And if you find yourself doubting your abilities, look through Harrisons file again. This guy needs to be put away." Luke stated, guilting her into pushing past her own insecurities. "This isn't high school Andy. If they don't hire you, we'll figure something else out."

She let the last notes hang in the air, as she scanned the room for her boss, only to find him talking to Nick, as planned. Frank Harrison had been one of the friendliest drug heads she'd ever met. I mean, then again, Jamie Brennan didn't seem half bad (that is until he kidnapped and tortured Sam...). She shuddered at the memory, and smiled at the audience before, grateful for yet another night without booing. She sat there a little longer than usual, letting the crowd clap while she got a feel for who was in the room. Frank told her specifically that she was to keep the attention on her, at all times. If she wasn't captivating, she wasn't employed, and she wasn't to ask questions.

The other Frank, her real boss, told her that her most important job was to keep on her bosses good graces, and learn as much as she could from the staff at the club, while Nick worked the ship yard. Pretty simple for her. She used her "best weapon", her mouth. She cursed herself in that moment for letting her mind go to Sam again. And decided she'd better get on with her next song. And just as she was about to return her eyes to the sheet music before her, she saw him out of the corner of her eye. Sam Swarek.
