Fuck Burrows and Scofield and that bitch, Tancredi. They'd be dead if it wasn't for him and this is the thanks he gets.
As for Caroline, well, she'll get hers: a bullet in the back of her head; payback for her betrayal.
He imagines that if she could see him now, she'd be trying to talk him out of it, telling him what she thinks he wants to hear.
"What do you think you're doing, Paul? You can't shoot me. You know me. You know exactly who I am. Remember how it used to be between us? Before Burrows and The Company and Scofield?"
"I remember," Kellerman says, to the ghost of her. He squints into the sight and gets her in his crosshairs as she's making her way to the hotel entrance.
The shot echoes between the skyscrapers. People scream and Caroline goes down beneath her bodyguard.
The crowd around Scofield scatters. He lies on the sidewalk, all wide-eyed surprise – the exit wound a messy, gaping hole in his skull. Caroline can feel the squishy red stuff in her hair: blood on blonde.
Kellerman smirks – love and loyalty and pride – before lifting the rifle and disappearing from the balcony.
