Chapter 17:

The two of them sat very still in silence. They knew it wasn't over as Merlock was still out there plotting his next move. They had to be careful for the following week Ircus was healed and better again. Once back on his feet he was back to fighting crime. He knew his biggest fight with Merock was coming soon. He sighed that evening trailing up to the path of Scrooge McDuck's home. He needed to see Venus as he knew she still meant everything to him. She had gave up her whole life of being immortal to save his life. Ircus guessed she wanted since her old life wasn't happy as her new one. He entered round the back into the kitchen. ''Ircus'' said Venus as she embraced him. He noticed his love was much slow in speed. Yet she was still the fine creature she once was. As she was wearing her coat which was odd for he heard the sound of dishes being washed. ''Venus is there something you want to tell me'' said Ircus. She smiled at him.''Upstairs quick I don't want to tell Mr McDuck not at the moment'' said Venus leading him into her new bedroom. Ircus pondered if the two of them were going to make love. But he knew Scrooge would have him thrown out the house if he did. So what they had done twice in his bed at his house the first after they went out to dinner. The second time they slept together was in celebrating their victory of finding each other once again. That was when Ircus got out of the hospital when he asked Venus round for tea. They made sure no one knew of their affairs well they told Gene since he was her friend and Ircus had already told him about the first time. But they swore him to promise to keep it their secret. But the three of them couldn't help but smile about it.

They entered the bedroom as Venus locked the door making sure no one was listening in on them. She made sure her and Ircus was alone. She undid her coat. Ircus saw in the middle of her stomach was a bump. Ircus stared as he felt his hand along the bump. His parents told him where or how a baby was created. ''Oh my Venus you are pregnant the baby is it'' said Ircus.''Yes ours well aren't you thrilled'' said Venus nuzzling him. Ircus felt a bounce his step picking Venus in his arms spinning her about in delight. ''Ircus calm down you want to harm the baby beefore he or she arrives'' said Venus happily. ''Sorry I can't help I am going to be a father'' said Ircus happily putting her back down on the floor. He knew during the days that Venus had been sick and had the weird cravings. He thought it was some sickness she got after losing her immortal self. But now he knew it was something normal. For he and her was creating a tiny life inside her belly. ''But we can't tell anyone till it arrives'' said Venus as Ircus understood. For those she knew would either freak or be enraged by what he had done. But it wasn't right not with a secret big as this. But Venus had donemany things for him she had got him back on speaking terms with his parents mostly his mother. Even if Ircus groaned a couple of times of what Mrs Knight had said. Ircus knew it wasn't the right time especially with Merlock still out there. Another week went by as things went back to normal. One day Ircus got a call from his mother. ''Oh Ircus I can't believe it why didn't you tell me sooner Venus told me the delightful news that I am going to be a grandmother'' said Mrs Knight with an excited tone in her voice.''Yes but Venus doesn't want anyone to know till the birth'' said Ircus. ''Oh course I want to be there when it arrives that is why you father has started packing this moment Ircus, Ircus watch out for the vase'' said Mrs Knight. But it sounded her warning came too late as he heard a crash in the background. Probably his father Lord Ircus Knight II had dropped a suitcase and sentit flying at his mother's prized vase by accident.''Never mind accidents happen I can't wiat to see you two I told you would find a nice girl to settle down with'' said Mrs Knight. ''Yeah speaking of which did Venus tell you where she was going'' said Ircus. ''She told me she was going to get her scan today oh I have to go before before your father wrecks the whole house Ircus not the other vase'' said Mrs Knight as her voice trailed off the phone.

Ircus sighed putting the phone back on where it stood. It was hard to explain things to them. His family believedin marriage first then second came the baby. He wondered how his parents would react if him and Venus had their child out of marriage. So what it was the dark ages where it was frown upon in those days. He left the house to find Venus. He had plans to take her out to lunch but first he had to make a stop somewhere else first. Venus walked down the streets making sure to check in case danger was about. She reached the cafe Ircus was to meet her that afternoon. She entered to see no sign of him once she sat down at the table She was worried that Merlock had captured Ircus. Making him suffer if he found out about the baby. Venus kept her coat on in case people saw the bump. She knew how fast rumours spreadin Duckburg. That moment ircus entered the cafe sitting down beside her.''Sorry I am late'' said Ircus putting his arm around her. He gave her his beaming smile.''I thought something had happened to you'' said Venus. He shrug at this as their orders were taken. While waiting among the busy customers chatting Ircus took her hand he felt it was time.''Venus I know we haven't known each other for a very long time but it feels I have known you my whole life and the time we spent together has been a crazy dangerous ride but I enjoyed it Venus what I am trying to say is'' said Ircus feeling about in his pocket.

He brought out a tiny diamond ring.''Will you be my wife I know it is rushed but I will give you time to think'' said Ircus. Venus stared at the ring then him. Venus didn't need to think once or twice for that matter. ''Oh yes Ircus I will'' said Venus throwing herself into his arms as she gave him a kiss. Then it was settled the news of their marriage was printed in every newspaper.
