He had been warned of the high risks and dangers that came with the job but he had never thought that there was even a possibility that his life could end this way. He closed his eyes and held his breath as he instinctively grabbed the door handle and held on for dear life. A small murmured pray for some kind of a miracle slipped from his lips as he was violently thrown first to the left and then hard to the right as the sound of screeching brakes, horns and sirens filled his ears. His prayers were answered a moment later as he felt himself lurch forward as the car skidded to an abrupt halt and sat rocking on its wheels.
Releasing his breath, he slowly opened his eyes and uncurled his fingers from their death grip on the door, consciously forcing himself to resist his terrified gasp when he saw just how close they had come to slamming into the parked police car.
"Come on Danno, don't sit there all day, we have a job to do!"
McGarrett's impatient snap as he exited the car broke the young detective out of his shock and Danny slowly nodded as he opened the door and stepped out himself on two shaky legs, momentarily grateful that his two other colleagues had rushed to his side. "Does he always drive like that?" He gasped staring at the back of his new boss.
Chin grinned as he turned to watch McGarrett duck under the police tape and speak to the HPD officer waiting for him, "Not usually bruddah, today he was taking it easy so he didn't scare you!"
"He was taking it easy?"
Danny's eyes opened wide in disbelief as Kono grinned mischievously and nodded to the car parked in front. "Yeah bruddah, at least this time da boss missed da police car!"
