She was made with a mission. It was her purpose from the beginning of time. To guard, protect, and most importantly, guide the chosen hero of the goddess on his way. She was perfectly content to fill this role. She was made for it.
Many nights during the long centuries of waiting were spent thinking about this hero. What weapons he would favor, if he would resemble the goddess at all, if he would complete the missions gladly or simply because it was the duty of a hero to do so, what sort of attitude he would have, and on and on the list went.
So when that fateful night came, and she confronted the hero, she was, to say the least, shocked. He was a bit strange, thinking her at first to be a ghost, and he wasn't the most impressive looking character ever. Of all the enemies he would have to face... not a one would be intimidated. He was rather scatterbrained as well, following her for some distance and then popping into a nearby bedroom to talk to someone or to jump down a few ledges and open a treasure chest. It was almost... childlike... the way he pattered about, carefree as anything.
For the first time since she was created, the question entered her mind: What if the hero wasn't much of a hero? What if no matter how hard she tried, this person simple wasn't cut out for the job? What if the dangers that lay ahead would deter him? What if he would give up?
But then again... none of that mattered much, did it?
She was made with a mission. It was her purpose from the beginning of time. To guard, protect, and most importantly, guide the chosen hero of the goddess on his way. She may not have been all that content with the hero she was given, but that was irrelevant. This was her mission. She was made for this.
