"Hey Danno."
"Steve."
"How are you feeling?"
"Tired...sore..."
"Doc removed the bullet. He said with a little recovery time and a couple of weeks of physio-therapy you're good for a full recovery."
"Shem?"
"Pau."
"I'm sorry, Steve."
"Sorry?"
"I missed."
"You got him with your second shot, Danno. Don't you remember?"
"I'm the sharpshooter...I should have got him with my first shot. I risked too many lives by missing…I risked your life by getting myself shot...I'm sorry."
"Danno, sometimes we don't always succeed to do what we set out to do the first time. It's not always our fault, sometimes nature conspires against us and sometimes a suspect unexpectedly moves out of out of the sight just as you fire. But the important thing is you never gave up - wounded and hurting you still tried again and succeeded!
You may think that you risked too many lives by missing that first shot my friend but a lot of HPD officers are home tonight safe because you never gave up and you fired that second shot. You have nothing to be sorry for Aikane, nothing!
As for risking my life, whether you had missed with your first shot or not - nothing and I do mean nothing would have stopped me from going up that hill when I knew that you had been wounded! That was my decision Danno and I would not have made it any differently no matter what the circumstances were.
I want you to stop blaming yourself for missing that first shot Aikane, it is not important. I want you to remember that you saved a lot of lives on that hill today. You saved a lot of good officers who I know are grateful that even wounded, you never gave up. Now I want you to concentrate on just resting and getting your strength back. That's an order!"
"Mahalo, Steve."
"No Danno, it is everyone on that hill today that owes you our thanks. Mahalo Aikane!"
