Buffy's dark passenger

Dexter didn't want to kill this strange girl. She hadn't killed any innocents. Dexter held back, but soon got the impression that she could kick his but either way.

Dexter: Who are you?

Buffy: I'm Buffy the vampire slayer. And you are?

Dexter: Dexter Morgan.

Buffy: And the bay harbor butcher?

Dexter: Yes. I thought vampires and the slayer were myths.

Buffy: Well now you know better. That'll give you something to think about in prison.

Dexter: You sure you want to take me in. I can help you fight vampires. We could work well together.

Buffy: I don't kill humans.

Dexter: And I don't kill innocents.

Buffy: It's not the same thing.

Dexter: Would you kill a child who'd been turned?

Buffy: Maybe.

Dexter: I woudn't. But you won't kill humans. Are we really so different? We're both killers, even if we have different methods.

Buffy: Let's say you're right. If we did work together, how do I know you won't kill any more humans?

Dexter: I'll give you my word. We'll have to trust each other.

Buffy knew she shouldn't, but she had always been somewhat drawn to the dark side, Angel, Spike,Faith. Buffy took Dexter up on his offer. Dexter became Buffy's apprentice, and soon he was a vampire hunter in his own right. Dexter and Buffy eventually parted ways. But sometimes, when a horrible rapist and murderer suddenly "disapeared" Buffy couldn't help but wonder if her friend was up to his old tricks.
