One: Safe and Sound

"I Win!" Kairi announced as she leaped over the dark line Sora had drew for their racing with a stick.

"Wow, you guys are slow pokes!" Kairi added as she watched her two best friends, Riku and Sora stagger across the line gasping to get their breaths back. That caused Kairi to laugh.

"Slow pokes AND fatties!" She teased poking Riku in the gut playfully before he collapsed on the sandy ground as Sora fell to his knees wheezing loudly.

"Give us a break Kairi, we've been racing ALL DAY!" Sora whined falling down on his butt and rubbing his sore calf muscles.

It was a hot summer day and the three friends spent it with competition, swimming, eating, tree climbing, even DISH WASHING!

Kairi won all of them.

That's what Riku and Sora loved most of her, she was very competitive and challenging, she also wasn't afraid to loose.

Infact, there wasn't a lot of things that scared Kairi, Sora and Riku have been trying to prove that wrong since day 1.

Kairi was a very beautiful girl, with her wide violet eyes, her smooth red hair, and her tiny button nose, along with her tiny pale body at 5'1.

"Need a hand boys?" She asked with a short laugh as the boys watched the night breeze blow gently threw her hair, making it sway side by side on her shoulders.

They both accepted her hands and got up to their feet.

Riku ran a hand threw his white hair that came to the dip of his neck, his bright ocean blue eyes always seemed to be focused on something, because he was a very serious person, he's been like that his whole life.

Not only was Riku the oldest of the group but he is also the tallest!

Sora was only 5'8, three inches shorter then Riku but at least he was seven inch's taller then Kairi! He loved to call her half pint to get on her nerves.

The funny thing is that Sora and Riku have been fighting to win for Kairi's heart but they never had the guts to try, they would always make up excuses to each other so they wouldn't look or feel like a wimp.

"Whew! What a day!" Sora said with a yawn closing his dark blue eyes that could be seen in the deepest darkest part of the sea.

Sora was very cute, he had the little baby face even at 19 years old, he too had a button nose with a little upturn on the tip of it, he had smooth Carmel colored hair that was naturally spiked in each direction of his head. Although, he's mostly known for his huge goofy yellow sneakers. XD

"Mmm…I say we should just do ONE more race before the day ends! I can still see the sun!" Kairi replied as she took one of Riku and Sora's hands in hers, causing both of their hearts to jump up in their throats.

"NO WAY!" They said together.

Kairi opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by her own Grandmother, who was calling for her from above the hills where they lived.

Kairi rolled her violet blue eyes.

"I have to go before my Grandma has a heart attack!"

The boys both laughed and said a casual goodbye to their friend who was already half way up the hill to her house.

"Damn, so much energy in such a little girl" Riku murmured as he leaned against a palm tree watching Kairi until she disappeared inside her house. Sora HATED it when Riku looked at Kairi like she was a piece of apple pie, There was more to her then her body! (Riku didn't think so)

That was typical Riku. Always swinging chicks, Sora always wondered why Riku liked Kairi if he always was with a different girl every week.

(Probably because Riku only wanted one thing from Kairi as he wants with other girls)

But Sora was not going to let that happen.

He promised himself that.

Sora NEVER broke promises.
