Zoro/Luffy-Not Yours

Chapter Three:

Zoro

He was running, running so slowly, as if being stuck in time. He knew he had to hurry before it was too late. He had to get to his nakama. He had to help them in any way he could, although one by one, they were disappearing. They were near close to death and yet he felt as if he had done nothing to help, and he hadn't. He'd been forced to watch their deaths, with a slow burning hatred creeping up inside of him aimed at their murderer. His eyes closed, he felt himself shaking, with anger, a deep sadness, and remorse.

He took a second to breathe and try to calm himself down, even if it was a pointless act. He opened his eyes determined to save them, even if it cost him his life, he'd fight for them. He could see nothing but a eerie darkness he was surrounded in, but he could see his nakama slowly dying. Luffy was unconcious, it even looked as if he didn't care.

He looked empty. His eyes filled with nothingness, an empty shell, void of anything.

He yelled at his captain to wake up, to open his eyes, to see that his comrades were slowly disappearing. His voice was strained, with panic and worry. He realized he didn't know what was happening, or what to do in a time like this. He just knew he needed to fight.

He looked around frantic, but trying hard to stay calm. Zoro, seeing the large bear-like warlord gone, kept searching. When he was sure Kuma was gone, he started to run, but only found that he was running in place. He stopped and stared at his feet with upset eyes to see himself surrounded by blood, nothing but the dark red was seen in his eyes. He looked up to see Usopp, his body slowly fading into the darkness until there was nothing left. He turned to the left to see Robin's body sinking into the pitch black as well, all he could see was her hand reaching out for help, something he couldn't give. He tried to reach but his body wouldn't move. He had to stand there and watch his nakama die.

He tried to move his hand to his haramaki to handle his swords only to see all three of his katana gone. His eyes widened if possible as he searched for them, frantic. He wanted to find Wado Ichimonji, Kuina's sword, that had been placed in his care, to carry on her dream and goals, and it had disappeared right along with his nakama. His purpose was gone. He yelled again for Luffy to open his eyes, but his voice was not heard at all, frustration built up in his chest, and he was just about to go insane. He stood and watched everyone, their gruesomely injured bodies slowly disappearing right before him.

The only question he could wonder at that moment, was 'What is going on?' or 'How could Luffy let this happen?' 'How could I let this happen? I'm the first mate!' He closed his eyes, frustration overflowing in himself. It wasn't until a certain man named Kuma appeared before him, Zoro didn't need to open his eyes to know that the powerful aura suddenly surrounding him belonged to that man.

He could sense the presence, he could hear the heavy foot steps coming closer. He only had to open his eyes to meet his fate, he stared at the paw that faced him and the calm look on the bear-like warlords face before a powerful air pressure was flying towards him, He took a running stance and met it full on, the air being knocked out of him as he felt himself falling, falling.

Zoro woke up with a gasp of air and a strangled breath, as he sat up confused and disoriented. He looked around in a rush and realized he'd fallen off a hammock that Usopp had added to the Sunny to make it feel like it had been on the Going Merry. He hesitantly put a hand to his chest to feel his heart pounding, and was confused that the feeling of frustration and deep sadness was still there.

He stood up and rubbed the back of his head, but his confusion rose as the ship lurched sideways. Zoro grunted and held onto a pillar as everything slid across the room. He quickly made a movement to grab Kitetsu, Shushi, and Wado, before maintaining his balance and rushing to the door only for it to fly burst open and almost off it's hinges to see a body hurdling towards him.

Being caught off guard was something that Zoro was used to, but even he, with his mastery reflexes could not dodge the body flying at him. He was knocked to the end of the room into the wall, a grunt of pain was let out as he slid to the floor, shoving the person off of him. He could hear voices, yells coming from outside. He felt a bit of panic rise, not forgetting the dream from earlier and stood up, a hand at his chest. He remembered the bandages and swiftly ripped them off from underneath his blue shirt, before walking towards the door, sparing a glance at the person who was laying in rubble looking defeated. Marines.

He heard Nami's voice call out. "Luffy! You just sent that soldier flying into where Zoro is! You idiot!" and a response that went like "Oops, sorry Nami! I forgot!" followed by a chuckle, but it was hard to hear with metal clashing against eachother. 'What is that noise?' Zoro wondered. "You're the one who said to leave him be! Well, go check on him!" Nami screeched, to which Zoro rolled his eyes. He could look after himself. It seemed Luffy knew this because he responded once again with, "Zoro's strong, he can handle himself, Nami." He heard that serious under-tone in his captains voice and opened the hilt of his sword, ready to exit and fight along with the rest of them.

Nami's statement stopped him for a short moment, as he wondered why Luffy didn't wake him at the sense of marines attacking The Sunny. 'Maybe they weren't that big a deal?' Zoro thought for a second, but took it back as he marched through the door, with his cool, sleepy facade on his face, but raised an eyebrow at how tired he took everyone in to be. He blocked a sudden attack from his left, a sword stopped short just a centimeter at cutting open his neck. Zoro smirked and pushed the soldier back a few feet before cutting him down, turning his head to the side, watching the body fall limp to the floor, giving him a sense of sick satisfaction. This was the reason he was called the Demon Cutter.

He looked towards his capatain to see him throwing punches, before turning to see Robin and Franky fending off a dozen marines. He intervened just as one of the enemies tried to attack Robin and blocked it before sending the man flying. "Zoro! Your awake, thank you." He turned to Robin who seemed to be surprised, but still wore a small smile. He grunted in response and smirked as he could see Sanji struggling with a few of them. He narrowed his eyes at the slow reactions the cook was having, and the exhausted and annoyed aura he was giving off. 'Better leave him be.' Zoro thought and turned to find his little furry friend.

"Usopp! Where's Chopper?" Zoro looked over at the sniper, though no answer was needed because a moment later, a squeal was heard and a light weight was brought on Zoro's leg. He glanced down to see his little friend grabbing onto his foot for dear life. He chuckled and picked the little reindeer up by his hat and placed him on his shoulders. "Zoro! Watch out! Ahhh, were going to die!" Zoro unsheathed his three swords and placed one in his mouth, facing his opponents that had been chasing after Chopper.

Zoro took on a stance, his head faced downwards, eyes closed, his swords facing upwards, excluding the one in his mouth. "Enbima Yonezu... Oni Giri!" A swift gust of wind passed through the small area as Zoro slowly opened his eyes, the sound of bodies dropping behind making him smirk in delight. He could hear the awe-struck Chopper on his shoulder. "So fast... Zoro!" The little reindeer was squealing in delight, yellow shiny stars in his eyes. "That was so cool!" This little action made Zoro chuckle as he put away his swords. "Hm. Seems everyone's taken care of." He paused for a moment before heading to the kitchen. "I'm going to get some booze." Zoro strolled off casually, but was stopped by Chopper yelling in his ear, about how he shouldn't have taken off his bandages, as well as giving him a lecture that drinking will affect his health. He yawned and set the reindeer on the ground, before strolling over to Luffy.

"Oi, Luffy. Why didn't you wake me up?" He asked raising an eyebrow, slightly annoyed that he'd been left out of the fun. He didn't even get the chance to cut anyone besides a few weak soldiers, while the idiot cook was able to take down a dozen most likely. But also because he was the first mate, and he had a duty to help his captain in a time of need, like he just witnessed. "Oh, Zoro your awake!" His captain grinned and waved at him. This caused everyone sweat drop and stare at Luffy. 'Was the kid always that unobservant?' Zoro wondered, scratching the back of his head and turning away from his captain's large pair of eyes that were following him.

"Whatever, don't leave me out next time, it's no fun." Zoro mumbled before looking out at the horizon to see an island rather close by. 'How long have I been asleep?' "Oi, Nami, we stopping at shore to stock up on supplies?" He asked curiously looking at the ocean horizon, seeing the border of an island shadow if he looked hard. "Isn't it obvious to you, shitty marimo?" Zoro grit his teeth and turned to the cook, thunder sparks were set off between the two, and the other's words were forgotten and drowned out.

Nami

Nami sighed and watched Sanji start yet another fight with Zoro. 'Honestly, what's with those two that they always feel the need to fight every time they get the chance to?' Nami thought exasperated at everyone's constant talking, they weren't exactly out of immediate danger from the Marines, not yet. Nami looked back at the war ship that was beginning to sink and than turned back to look over the damage on deck. There were soldiers lying unconcious everywhere she looked, and the crew was just talking to eachother and laughing, not caring. To make it worse, the air pressure changed once again, and it seemed as if a light or hard rain was about to make itself known.

'Should I change the direction of the ship's course to try and avoid the small storm or should we just bare through it, and use a 'Coup de Burst' if nessesary?' Nami turned back to the ocean in deep thought over the situation at her hands. She was the navigator, she was supposed to take care of this particular mess. Besides, weather was her expertise.

Hearing laughter behind her, Nami turned her head and smiled at the sight that she found. Zoro and Sanji had been knocked to the ground by their captain that was currently entangled with the two crew members. She could see the irritated expressions on their faces, as well as Luffy's grinning face and gave into a giggling fit as did the rest of the crew. 'Luffy would never change.' Nami thought to herself silently.

She saw the way Luffy would nonchalantly favor Zoro's legs, and use Sanji's stomach as a foot rest while they were entangled together and chuckled amusedly. She also noticed how Zoro would glance at Luffy every few minutes, almost as if making sure the younger was okay, or as if he still wasn't over that they had almost lost Luffy at Thriller Bark. Lately, since they left the last island, she and Robin had conversed about the sudden change of behavior of certain crew members. Of course, Nami made Robin tell her about what she knew of the happenings on the last island, to which the devil fruit user warily obliged.

The way Sanji had been so distant, and working more in the kitchen, the way Luffy was acting more friendly than usual with his first mate were unusual as well, and Zoro had been in the Crow's Nest as much as possible working out, if you went up there you could hear him muttering about 'getting stronger.' So that's usually where you would find Luffy as well.

Nami didn't seem to care until she noticed the sudden attachment between Luffy and Zoro over the few weeks. It just seemed as if the two had made some sort of silent pact of sworn loyalty to eachother. She would often catch the two gazing at eachother, like an agreement, or understandment of what the other was thinking, and than suddenly they would look away like nothing happened. It was highly amusing, but fascinating to watch at the same time. She didn't exactly realize why, but she enjoyed watching the two bond, even Robin agreed with her thoughts.

It filled her with slight joy when she would catch the two close together, talking and laughing together. Even when Zoro was irritated, Nami knew that the clumsy swordsman was enjoying his time with his captain. She could just tell by the way his eyes followed Luffy's every step. Nami sighed and turned around to rest her head against the mast and quietly let out a short yawn of exhaustion. She wanted to get these thoughts out of her head, but they kept coming back with curiosity, and kept her from sleeping sometimes. She had a theory, just a theory but she wanted to prove it correct. It was like an itch, that always came back.

She had come to the assumption, that Luffy had feelings for a certain green-haired swordsman on The Sunny. Was it the other way around, or maybe she was just mistaking this with her imagination, and had mistaken their bond for... feelings? 'Who am I kidding, the idiot's probably don't even know what 'feelings' are.' Nami thought to herself a few days earlier. So she wanted to test out her theory, and decided to have a conversation with Luffy about it. Nami sighed as she remembered her earlire conversation with her captain.

It had been before the incident of Luffy almost drowning, and rather late in the evening. Nami had noticed that Luffy was not very interested in interacting with other crewmembers and was coming down from sitting upon the Sunny's figure head. So she had the chance of ascertaining her thoughts. She noticed him sneaking his way to the kitchen, and almost laughed at the sight. She quickly made her presence known by asking him if she could talk with him. Luffy must have sensed the serious aura around her since he nodded and followed her to the railing at the end of The Sunny, a little way away from the others.

"What's up, Nami?" Her captain smiled at her and sat on the railing, if he wasn't careful he could easily fall over the edge and into the ocean. She eyed him carefully, and leaned against the railing as well, and looked at Luffy. "Hey, Luffy, I was wondering about something earlier." Nami started off the conversation and waited for an answer. "Mmm, like what? Meat? Cause I wonder about that all the time, and-" Before Luffy could go into a meat-lecture-rampage, Nami hit him over the head with her fist, but regretted it when she had to steady him from falling. "No you moron! I'm talking about something completely different. God, sometimes I wonder if you hit you're head too hard when you were little." Nami sighed and pushed off of the railing to stand in front of her captain.

"Well now that you mention it, I was hit over the head by my grandpa, Garp quite a lot because-" Nami face-palmed herself, but quickly recovered and put her hand on Luffy's shoulder to get his attention. "Nevermind that Luffy, I want to know if you care for you're crewmates." Nami stared at Luffy, who gazed right back, a serious look in the captain's eye, but he still grinned as usual. "Of course, my nakama are very important to me!"

"Well what about-" Nami was interrupted by Luffy leaning forward in front of her face. "Actually, Nami, I was wondering about something. Could you lend me some money!" Her captain smiled at her and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. Nami could only gape at the poor boy before knocking him over the head once more. "Are you insane?! Why would I lend 'you' money? Precious, precious money." Nami murmured the last part since she was in a 'money trance' as Usopp would call it.

"Actually it's for someone, er something very important. And since I don't have any money... well..." Luffy looked up from the ground to stare at Nami with pleading eyes. It was those big brown eyes that looked at her needingly that made her sigh in regret. "Fine, but what would you need money for, food?" Nami guessed and rolled her eyes until she saw her captain avoid her gaze and looked to the ground again, but what shocked her was when he looked up again he took a glance towards the middle of the ship.

She followed his gaze and saw Sanji serving Robin her usual coffee, Usopp sitting on the railing fishing, and Zoro without a shirt again sleeping on the deck, while Chopper layed at his feet comfortably. She squinted her eyes, and looked back and forth from the deck to Luffy. Until he noticed her staring, and grinned at her. "So how about it Nami?" Her captain cocked his head to the side in wonder. Nami's eyes widened and her heart melted a bit at her next assumption. Was Luffy going to buy something special for Zoro? Than again he could have been looking at Sanji, or Robin for that matter, though she highly doubted it.

"Hey Luffy, who in our crew do you trust the most?" Nami asked quickly as Usopp sighed, and starting to walk towards Luffy waving and grinning. "Zoro or Sanji, why-" Luffy was interrupted by a rough push of hands that had forced him over the railing and falling heavily to the sea water. "NAMI" Before Luffy could stretch his arms to catch himself, or finish a sentence, he fell into the deep ocean sinking in a heartbeat. "Nami! What! Luffy! Ocean! Haaaaa, what?!" Usopp ran over and looked over the edge of The Sunny.

Nami, coming back from her thoughts, smiled at the short memory from a few days earlier. Luffy had obviously been confused by her actions, and when Nami was sitting below deck having trouble sleeping, Luffy had come and talked with her about what happened. She explained to him a different story however, of how she wanted him to know that his nakama were here for him, and her little stunt was proof of that. He had seemed to believe it, although told her that he had known that all along. She worried that he had a sense of knowledge that he knew she was lying, but let it go when they said their goodnights.

Nami smiled as she stared intently the ocean waters lapping against The Sunny and was brought out of her musings when Sanji offered her a cup of hot coffee, which of course involved him dancing around her with over-flowing hearts sprouting out of him. Nami closed off her ealier thoughts and walked over to Robin to talk, when Zoro's voice came on through the intercom of the Crow's Nest.

"Oi, the island is up ahead."

Everyone froze and looked forward, and sure to his word, there was what 'looked' to be a desolate island, with nothing but trees. Nami sighed and looked over at her captain, who of course had the sparkle of adventure in his eyes, and of course they could do nothing to stop him. Nami sighed and ordered them to drop anchor so they could aboard the island. Nami didn't suspect anything to be wrong with this island but than again, all the other islands they've been to haven't exactly been considered normal. Also with Luffy's fractious behavior, things couldn't be in their odds.

Zoro

Zoro, after finishing informing the others about the island he had found, had decided to finish his workout with his weights. He was done in a matter of minutes, with sweat sliding down slowly from his face, as he suddenly has an determined feeling in his gut. He stands up and stares out the window of the Crows Nest before getting redressed and heading to the deck. He had a feeling about this island they were dropping anchor for. 'It doesn't... feel right.' Zoro thought to himself frowning as he stared once more at the island.

Zoro didn't get much time to sort through his thoughts about the place, because as soon as Zoro had stepped onto the deck, Luffy was yelling at the top of his lungs about adventure, and with that came Usopps disease of stepping onto land, and Choppers insecure and fear of everything.

Author's Note:
Well hello there again~! [By the way, this chapter is not finished, but I felt bad for not updating soon enough, so here you guys go, we'll call it: Part 1, and Part 2 will be out shortly]
So Sorry for not updating for like two months. I've been so busy, you would not believe.

For the story, I've got it all figured out, I just have to get my ideas written down, you know.

Oh and someone will be making a guest appearance in the story, so get excited, and guess who it is in the review section. :]
Oh and question of the day: What's you're favorite thing about One Piece?

Oh and here's a peek at what I was -going- to use during the small Marine Fight earlier, but decided not to. Just some Zoro action, him saving his captain and what-not. Enjoy~

'Zoro's eyes widened as he gripped Wado Ichimonji and lunged in front of the sword that was aiming for Luffy, and blocked it in the nick of time. He pushed the guy back a few feet and re-sheathed his katana to give the guy who'd tried to kill his captain a dark glare. "If I were you, I'd back off, that's my captain you just attacked." Zoro said with a calm tone of voice. He'd had enough of these pathetic pirates coming after them.

It had been awhile since a ship actually had the guts to try and attack The Sunny, but he guessed today was different. Not only had Luffy been distracted by the smell of food [damn they know his weakness] but he hadn't seen a pirate come up from behind him with a sword, luckily Zoro was there watching over his captain.

"Zoro... Thanks!" Zoro took a glance at his grinning captain who was busy punching another pirate who'd attacked. He grunted in reply and looked over to see Sanji kicking ass, Nami looked like she needed help until Usopp came around to help, finally. Everything looked well and taken care of, none of his nakama seemed to be in fatal trouble. He nodded to himself and turned back to Luffy who was grinning down at the man who he assumed was 'captain' of the quite weak pirate crew, and smiled at his straw-hatted nakama.'

Anyways, thankskies for the reviews. I really appreciate it. I will personally message you if you review and thank you. ^-^
