Me: This is my first story writing. Hope you like it.

It was in the middle of the harsh winter in the forest, all leaves and vegetation are now replaced with white snow and bare trees, all trails and large rocks are also covered making the forest look the same in different areas. Most of the animals were hibernating, except for Thumper and his family who, along with all the other rabbits, have been struggling to find food. But in the center of the ice cold blizzard, Thumper will realize winter is not all that bad.

The forest is silent after the BANG noise that killed the mother of the young prince, Bambi and if things weren't worse the animals are hiding away from the deadliest, upcoming blizzard the region has seen.

"Where are your father and big brother at, the storm is getting worse by the minute," Thumper's mother scolded to her four daughters, pacing the front entrance of the burrow waiting for them to return. Her appearance is light brown fur on her over side and a light shade of grey on her under side, feet, cheeks, and around her deep blue eyes.

"Maybe they are caught up by the snow," Ria added, "No, dad and big brother can make it through anything that happens," Daisy and Trixie insisted, but little Tessie wasn't so sure and just kept her eyes locked on the snow outside, hoping to see them. They looked like their mother only they have caramel fur, low shade of brown on their under side, feet, cheeks, and around their sky blue eyes. To tell the difference between them they each have something unique to their appearance Daisy has a yellow daisy wrapped around one ear, Ria has a medium size patch of white fur on her back, Trixie has a bigger and bushier tail, and Tessie is smaller than all of her siblings.

"Sorry we're late, the blizzard is really picking up now," a voice said outside. Everyone was surprised but relieved to see Thumper's father entering the burrow with a back load of special herbs.

"DAAAAAD," the little girls screamed, "You're late and where's Thump-,"

"Here I am mom," Thumper huffed, tired from the rush to get back home in time,"We kind 'a got lost…sigh… in the snowy...wind." Both Thumper and his father look alike, normal grey over side, light tan color under side, etc., and light orange eyes, only his father's is darker in shade and Thumper has one tooth instead of double teeth.

"Well at least your home safe and sound." Thumper's mother sighed in relief.

"BIG BROTHER, what kept you, are you alright, what happened, where did you go, and why do you have all does greens we can't eat?" All his little sisters asked at once. He only answered the last question.

"Dad needed these in case any of us gets frost bitten during the winter, it helps warm us up," he answered, and the rabbit family hugged one another in relief that they are all safe. Mother rabbit then went into the food stash and brought out remaining clovers, grass, and edible leaves for dinner.

"Well, who's ready for dinner…WE ARE WE ARE WE ARE, "the children yelled with such excitement.

A few days later, the storm had subsided and to take advantage of this time, Thumper's parents left the burrow to look for more food and to see how the forest and neighbors were doing. After seeing the damage the blizzard had left behind that night they decided to check on neighboring rabbit families. While talking with them, they have heard a couple of neighbors and friends say that many young animals are getting trapped underneath the frigid snow because of staying out to long and some have died of hyperthermia. While getting more paranoid, Thumper's mother tried to race back home to check on them, but her husband stopped her.

"But dear, I'm really worried about the kids, this is the worst winter that I can remember, and possibly the worst the forest has been through and..., Don't worry honey as long as the kids stay in the house at night nothing will happen to them," Thumper's father reassured her, giving her a warm hug and a quick kiss, "You're right, but lets go home to be with the kids."They made their way back to the burrow to warn the children about the dangers.

The next day, Thumper wanted to go play with friends and asked his sisters to join them, but instead answered, I'm not leaving the burrow until spring has arrived," Tessie repeated making her way to the very rear of the burrow, along with her other three sisters, "Me too, and me and me," the other girls agreed. "I don't know why you're all afraid," Thumper argued, thumping his foot repeatedly to get their attention,"as long as you don't go out at night your safe, so stop fearing and start playing come on." Thinking for a few seconds, "Thumper's right let's go have fun before we grow old," Ria announced, running outside to join Thumper and sure enough the rest of them follow, all their fears melted away like snow in spring time. For a few days it looked like winter was losing its icy grip on the forest and the animals seem to have let their guard down, even with the warnings, they were not ready when the blizzard's second wave hit. Many young animals got caught in the storm, but most were rescued, except for a few that got lost the night before the third, deadlier wave of snow, which will be a lot longer than the first two.

On the evening before the third wave, Daisy ran into the burrow with some shocking and frightening news, "Someone my friend knew has gone missing earlier today and nobody knows where to even start looking and to make things worse, I've heard that a powerful blizzard was to start tonight, then we have to go on a search right now," Thumper added, heading into his parents room with his sisters," Mom, dad can we please go and help with the search," they begged. "I'm sorry my dears but the winter storm is going to get really bad for the next few days and we must stay inside," their mother replied, "But… mom-, kids listen to your mother for OUR own safety we need to stay in the burrow, do you understand, Yes," they answered frowning. They all went to sleep an hour later.

That night in the whirling, cold wind there was a sound that broke its way to the home of Thumper.

Thumper awoke to the sound, still very drowsy and sluggish he got up to listen. He crawled over to the other side of the room, "Do any of you guys hear that," Thumper asked his sisters. "Whaaaat, sshh...do you hear that," waiting in silence for more than two minutes they heard nothing, but wind. "No, I don't hear anything," Trixie yawned and went back to sleep. Minutes later the sounded returned but it was a voice and much more clearly made words of distress.

"HEEEELLPP," and Thumper knew it was someone in trouble.

Me:I know it's a little slow but it'll get better in the next one.
