Waking up emotionless was the very first thing I realized that something has changed. I looked through the large mirror that Dr. Neo Cortex specifically placed right in front of my eyes, reflecting the image of the new me. My eyes were half-closed, my mouth was shut; my hands could move, but they would always make a weird, metallic sound I don't even know how to explain it. My body was exactly equal to my old one, precisely measured in every single centimeter, with living tissue right upon my internal robotic, programmed body.
My eyes' irises weren't that different, too. They also looked the same. Right after looking through my pupils, you would come to the conclusion that they're perfectly black – but to me, on the other hand, all I see is an annoying red screen, no matter where I'd turn around, with white letters and numbers all over the place, scanning information about myself and everything around my surroundings. To Cortex, I was finally a perfect machine, flawless in such way that not even a nuclear explosion would wipe me out that easily. I was indestructible. Perfect.
The main goal he settled ever since the beginning was to create a mutant army, Cortex Commandos, with the only purpose to conquer the world, like a military army full of soldiers. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only victim. Cortex Vortex was used to transform mutant animals into mindless slaves, right after turning into sapient and human-like beings into the Evolvo-Ray, only to serve Cortex and his successful plans to world domination.
But I...
I was chosen to be the leader of that army.
Being the newest mutant captured, Cortex led me to the Cortex Vortex, but with failure. Not only because the machine was still at the prototype stage – but because, I was pure by heart. And then I escaped from the castle, with luck, living at the best that life could give me, with my sister Coco, Crunch, Aku Aku, the dumb but funny twin brothers Rock and Rick, and Amelia–
...Amelia.
I was programmed to exterminate her, because now all my existence, my dreams, have vanished in a matter of minutes, a couple of seconds. Because my 'old me' simply stopped to exist, because my mind and soul were practically removed no more or less into an inorganic body, a powerful but a lifeless machine, who has no other objective but to follow the targets, and kill.
Kill...
Is that all?
I lost the distinction between good and evil, because I lost the ability to have feelings, to understand living things... just like an ordinary machine.
Feel...
I feel nothing anymore.
