The strong musical beat hit my body with a harsh vibration as I stood on the front porch of Castle View's finnest log cabin in the tree's.
The strong aromia of lit cigarettes and warm sweat hit my nostrils, along of with alot of other un-nameable scents that lingered in the air. I sucked in a sharp breath and looked up at my big cousin Billy. His deep chocolate brown eyes seemed to be scanning their surroundings as he searched desparettely for his rebelious friends, the imfamous Cobras. Whom i've never yet had the pleasure of meeting.
Billy sensed my eyes on him and looked down at me, a small grin appearing on his thin lips. He looked down at me, than back to the party were he seemed to have found his group of friends. Of course, they weren't hard to spot. With their signature black leather jackets with the word 'Cobra' written in white capitial letters on their upper backs, they stuck out like a sore thumb. "Bill.. You can go.. I'll be fine, I want to find some new girl-friends anyways.. " I said cashually, giving him a dazzling smile all the boys seem to fall head over heels for. Billy raked a hand through his greased midnight black hair as he looked down on me, a nervous habitit of his.
"I want you to meet my friends Merecedes.. They'll like you.." Billy replied, shoving both his hands in his jeans pockets. I sighed and let my eyes wander back into the party.
Dancing Teenagers filled what looked like to be a family room, that is, before the party moved here. Each Teen was either cashually leaning against a wall trying to do their best James Dean pose, or out on the floor dancing wildly to the pounding music. Your classic party, but with more energy and uplifting spirt.
"Billy.." I began, not taking my eyes off of the dancing people. Awaiting my get away from my big cousin.
"Okay. Mercedes, Just, Be careful.. If anyone messes with you, you come to me and the guys alright?" Billy replied firmly, his tone making his question float out of his mouth as a statement. I simply nodded.
"Of course." I said nervously biting my lip. Billy did the same and pulled me into his usual warm embrace that I was so use too. Warm tears brimmed my icy blue eyes as I snuggled into his shoulder for comfort, thinking back to the last few days, that will surely haunt me forever.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "They have to let go.. You have to let go and let them escape the pain they are feeling." The day nurse whispered desparettely as she pulled me outside the hospitial door, away from the pain that was going on inside the very room my two loving parents lie, struggling for their lives.
A cold shiver ran through out my body as she spoke those very words. The words were unbelieveable to hear out loud,
they hurt to hear outloud, because I knew deep down, they were true. A new series of warm tears sprung out of my icy blue eyes as I gazed down the hallway avoiding an means of eyecontact with the day nurse.
I herd her lightly sigh as she reached for my hand. Her warm fingers weaved through mine as gently cupped her hand over my cheek and turned my face towards her's. She looked deep into my eyes, wanting me to understand. I did understand, I did, but letting your parents go was not the easiest thing to do. It was one of the hardest desisions i've ever had to make.
Let them go, and be pain free, die quicker .. Or let them stay, fight for their lives for another couple days before dieing anyways.
Either way, they were dieing. Both of my desisions had the same consiquences, but one had an easier way of going for my parents.
It was the first one.
"Okay." I managed to squeak as I pulled my hand out of her grasp and lightly grasped the silver door knob once again. Warm sweat trickled down my forehead as I entered.
Aunt Kathy was sitting in the chair nearest to her only sister, holding her hand tight while my father lay on the bed next to her.
Her head snapped up at my quiet entrance. Her hair was knotted, her make-up was ruined, her eyes were puffy, My favorite Aunt was a complete mess. This desision I was about to make was going to not only benifit my dieing parents, but my aunt as well. They needed to go, and by the look in her puffy hazel eyes, she knew that.
I walked over to both their beds, my heart rate pounding as I did so. Aunt Kathy watched me with curiousity as I picked up both of my parents hands, weaving their fingers through mine just as the nurse had done with me, just minutes before.
I looked at each of them one last time before closing my eyes and taking a deep breath.
"Let go."
And let go they did...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Billy pulled away and looked deep into my eyes. I felt his eyes contained a story only I could understand, it had always been like that, ever since our younger years. We were always so close, we could share anything with eachother and it would deffinatly remain between the two of us. We were best friends, and still are to this very day. I know in my heart we will always be close, Billy and I have always had an unbreakable bond nobody could never quite understand.
While Billy was constantly picking on his younger brother Vern, who was actually his blood sibling, he was being nice to me and giving me the love that rightfully should have been given to a sibling, not a cousin. We were always like siblings. Hell! What am I saying? We are siblings.
I gave Billy one last smile before stepping into the crowd of dancing teens. The energy and warmth that filled the room gave me a sense of happiness and freedom. I let a small smile take over my lips as I walked to the nearest empty chair and sat down.
My life might actually be coming back together.
Finally.
