"The Story Of Your Life Unwritten.
So Put Me Down As Your Ticket,
Dont Even Fight It.
Your Shaking,
You're Not Sure Of The Ending.
But Let Me Be The Beginning,
Just Put It In Writing." ~We The Kings.
"Mom?" My 12 year old daughter Mollie looked up at me, her deep blue eyes searching mine. "Yes, sweetie." I awnsered, a smile appearing on my lips.
"What were you justing thinking about?" she asked tilting her head to the side, letting her beautiful auburn ringlets fall over her shoulders. "What do you mean?" I asked with a chuckle, letting my fingers comb through her copper colored hair. "You were smiling, and it looked like you were thinking about something." she folded her arms tight as she looked up at me, a slight glare in her eyes. She reminded me of her father so much, it made me laugh sometimes. I let a low chuckle escape my lips as I looked down at my daughter, examining her features as she watched me intently.
Her deep blue eyes were filled with a curiousity, while her tone was calm, but awaited awnsers.
"Dad?" She questioned with a smile, her eyes lit up at the mere mention of her favorite man. I smiled.
"Mhm." she furrowed her eyebrows "Was it love at first sight?" she asked, her eyes shimmering. "I guess you can say that.. But we had a werid way of communicating. We weren't together right away, your dad had a bit of an.. Um.. Reputation back in the day." "what kinda reputation?" she asked in wonder. I shook my head, remembering the memory's of my teenage years running so freshly through my mind. It was like it all happened yesterday.
"I'll tell you when you're older." I replied. I watched as she looked down at the ground and slumped next to me. There was something on her mind, I could tell. "Boys are just dummies." I laughed "And how would you know this Mollie-Moo?"
"They just are." She said sulking. "Mollie?" I asked raising and eyebrow. "Whats happened?"
"Nothing." "Dont you know better than to lie to your Momma?" she looked up to me with dreary eyes. "Its Jack." She replied, her bottom lip quivering. I wrapped my arm around her slim shoulders and gave her a slight squeeze.
"Ohh, you like Jack." I sucked in a sharp breath and exhaled slowly. It brought tears to my eyes just to think that my little girl's growing up, so fast, and I cant stop it. If I could help it, she would stay a little girl forever, but thats out of my control,
sadly.
"Yeah." she replied, pouting. "He doesn't even notice me any more, he's too busy drooling over that Missy girl." "Sweetie, your both only twelve, and trust me, twelve year old boys are super dumb. But I promise you, one day he'll open his big brown eyes and see whats been right in front of him this whole time, and thats, you." She looked at me quizzically as I spoke. But a small smile crept upon her lips as she listened, curious of how it was like when I was her age.
"How do you know that?" She asked, a slight frown came upon her features. I let a smirk take over my lips as I looked down at her.
"Cause' thats what happened with your father and me and now were living happily ever after." she looked sneakily at me. "Hey, you never told me how you and dad met." She was grinning from ear to ear, a warm look in her eyes.
"Well we knew each other for a long time before we got together." Mollie stood up so she was level with me. "Tell me everything, don't miss out one detail!" I laughed at her enthusiasm. A blast of excitment ran through her body as she wrapped her arms around my torso and hugged me close. I smiled down at her and sighed.
"Well thats a long story.." "I have time!" she said exitedly, unwrapping her arms from me, and sitting down on the sofa in front of me. I chuckled.
"I dont even know where to begin.." I began as she cut me off in mid-sentance, her voice laced with excitment.
"Start with the first time you met." She replied with an eager smile. I looked down at Mollie and bit my lower lip, always a nervous habit of mine.
I couldnt really get out of this now, i had always really kept this to myself. I guess it was time to share my story with my only daughter..
"Okay." I sucked in a breath. "Here goes."
