Disclaimers: I don't own Neverland or the characters, but I do own Katherine Florence Clot.
My name is Katherine Flow (short for Florence) Clot. I know I know, last name Clot makes people think of blood. But the boys think it's cool; they say it makes me sound dangerous.
I have no mother, father or sibling. They were all murdered by someone, but no one knows who though. Ever since then, I became a pick pocket around the streets of London.
One night when I almost got caught by the police, some tall guy named James Hook saved my ass and took me in as an orphan. I learned that he had others with him too.
Their names are Fox, who the oldest. He is now 16 years old. Then Peter and Curly are fifteen. Tootles, Slightly, Nibs and Twins were all younger than everyone else. I am 15 years old too.
I've been with the boys for about three years so I've been with them ever since we were children or just starting to grow. We all get along well, sort of. We're more like sister and brother kind of thing. Even though we're not related at all, we still argue and bicker like a bunch of squabbling ducks! We sure ain't ever gone out with a day without an argument done.
Right now, we were doing our regular pick pocketing routine.
"Let me at him!"
"I'm gonna kill him!"
"Come on ya little runt!"
"Come back here boy!"
We Nibs, Curly and I were all running after Tootles, threatening him. He ran into a bunch of rich men about to take their picture and bonked right into them. I have to say this was one of our best plans yet! We were suddenly surrounded by the old men and Twins soon joined us. I managed to grab lots of chains and things from a man's pocket before racing out and started smiling triumphantly.
We suddenly realized that a tune filled the air with its lovely sound.
"Blimey Tootles, you're an artist!" Curly claimed smiling at the gold chain or pocket watch that Tootles had got.
"Oi, guess what I got lads?" I stated, waving a bunch of gold chains, watches and coins in front of their faces.
" Hell Kate? Where did you get all those from? All I got was a few coins!" I ain't that good! Nibs complained. The boys called me Kate, since to them, Katherine was to girly.
The air started with a tune again. Except that this tune sounded urgent and I looked up to find trouble maker Peter running across the roof up above us.
"What now?" Curly asked looking frustrated. But I didn't answer, I just ran along. Following the urgent tune, to find Slightly in handcuffs. He had went and done something again.
Then Peter started playing a different tune, and Fox stepped out, sneakily pick pocketing the police.
"You sir dropped this, and you sir dropped this." Fox said handing the police back there stuff. "It was by your keys sir." He added, but hid a key behind his back then let Slightly loose.
Both of them started running at top speed. Then a whistle cried out. It was so loud I had to cover my ears and winced. Then suddenly a horse reared up, spilling a bunch of barrels and tripping the police.
We all ran back to James's place.
White Chapel Fencing Academy. All the boys and I learned how to sword fight in that place. I have to admit that I am rather good when fighting. I ain't done a thing yet like hurting myself.
We all started chatting about our day as we bragged about what happened. Twins started some sausages while Fox congratulated Peter.
I was admiring my gold when Peter came across to me. "I see that you had luck today eh? Peter asked me, a smirk appeared on his face. I looked at him, his raven black colored hair short and his dark eyes stared at mine.
"Exactly, and what did you do this whole time eh Pete?" I joked back. "You killed my eardrums with that last note; I had a ringing in my ears for a few minutes!" I started protesting, but he just shook his head and ruffled up my chest length dark brunet hair on my head, making an ugly mess.
"Oi, I just combed it today and you go on making it all messy!" I protested trying to brush it back down with my hands.
"You look fine Kate, why can't you just put it up so you don't have to mess with it instead?" Tootles suggested as Peter took a seat next to me. I glared, about to make a retort but I was interrupted by Jimmy walking down the steps, a very peculiar look on his face.
"I have a nice job for you guys." James spoke.
"How nice?" Curly asked frowning.
"You're mad!" Curly protested.
"You're ready!" James snapped.
Suddenly a whole argument started happening, then Peter stood up and started talking about how we should pay James back for all the oh so wonderful things he has given us I just rolled my eyes keeping quiet and started spacing out.
"Harbottles Antiques. Raise your right hand."
I blinked, Peter had finished his speech. Everyone started raising their right hand. Even Curley finally did after a while, I was the only one that didn't, because I knew how heavily guarded that place was. We wouldn't even stand a chance.
"Kate, what about yous?" Peter turned his head torwards me.
I stared at him, I could see the desperation in his eyes but I couldn't agree.
"What are you scared girl?" Slightly joked. I spun my head torwards him. If looks could kill, Slightly would be gone, but no, nothing happened. I looked at his mouth, the smirk still on his damn face.
"Watch your mouth Slightly." Jimmy warned him, but it was already too late.
I had walked right up to Slightly and looked him straight in the eye, "Say that one more time Slightly and I will personally wipe that smiled of your face if you don't wipe it off yourself. If I here you insult my gender again, I will grab a sword from Jimmy and fight you one on one. Then we will see who is better or braver hmmm?" I made sure that every word that came from my mouth was slow and clear. I was frightening him, everyone knew that I could beat anyone in the group of boys besides James, or maybe even Peter, because I never fought him before.
Slightly nodded and I went back to the place where I was sitting. Satisfied, I flipped my hair over my shoulder and sat up straight. I usually wasn't that mean, but I hated it when the boys underestimated me just because I was a girl.
"Fine, Harbottles Antiques." I raised my right hand. But Peter and Jimmy were already gone.
I slumped back down and sighed.
"Really?" I snapped.
"Oh come of it Kate, we could be rich if we robbed the whole place, trade them out for clothes, food, or anything that we've wanted!" Nibs said excitingly. But I just looked at him and snorted.
Peter finally came down the stairs, looking annoyed.
"What's wrong with you mate?" I asked Peter. I know it sounds weird when a girl says "mate" to a boy, but we've all gotten accustomed to that.
I was sure that 'ol Pete was going to say something, but all the lad said was, "lets eat, Twins started cooking" And we all started stuffing our mouths.
When it started getting dark out, Fox went up to the roof to sort out all the thoughts from his head. Then Peter followed him up. Tootles, Nibs, Slightly and Twins started talking about tomorrow and what they were going to do. I joined in the conversation and started making a bet. Who ever has brought back the smallest amount of stuff the next day, they have to go on top of the roof and scream at the top of their lungs that we are thieves. But I wasn't really gonna have them you see. It was just something motivated them. And believe me; it works all the damn time.
I was about to go get ready for bed when Peter and Fox came down the stairs. "Come one, we are going to Harbottles Antiques tonight." Peter announced.
"Do we really have to do it tonight Peter, I'm so tired I could crash right now!" I complained, because I really was tired.
"No complaining now Kate, we have a job to get done." Fox said excitingly. I just groaned some more and looked at them.
"Fine, but I have to go to the restroom." It was that particular time of month again.
When I was done, I stopped and stared at myself in the mirror. I was about 5'6 and wore pants instead of those dresses or skirts. I only wore skirts for special occasions. I also had a button down white shirt on with the sleeves half up. On my feet were non polished black shoes, dirty as hell. I guess i wasn't that bad looking too. But I wasn't as pretty as some girls that I see out in the streets. I put on a white sweater then went downstairs.
"Okay now, we ain't have a lot of time to get this job done eh?" I announced then we went out into the cold night air.
