Chapter Three: This Feels Right
"You know, Leon, when you said that dating would help me, you were really wrong." Helena teased him. Leon smirked behind his coffee.
"You don't like Matt?" He asked, raising one eyebrow. Helena looked up in thought.
She shook her head, "I like him, it just felt so wrong." Leon put his mug down on the table and leaned in close to Helena.
"The sex." He started. "That's what felt wrong?" He asked a smile playing on his lips.
Helena looked perplexed for a moment, her mouth hanging open, then she shrugged. "Well yeah." And I just felt like I was in love with the wrong person. I mean I really like Matt, but I don't feel like I'm actually in love." She leaned back in her chair and bit into a strawberry.
The morning light shone on her, making her look like an angel. Leon couldn't help but stare. She was beautiful. Things seemed to be in slow motion. Her laughter was music to his ears, and there were no more dark circles under her eyes. Her eyes were bright and clear; no more tears. Helena caught him looking at her, and she smiled.
"Leon?" She asked, amused. He blinked and shook his head slightly.
"Sorry, where were we?" He asked. Helena rolled her eyes at him, and laughed quietly to herself.
"I don't feel a real connection with Matt." She giggled. Her smile is so beautiful. Leon thought.
"It's only been two weeks, Helena. You never know." He reassured her.
Helena looked at him doubtfully. "Oh I know." She left the chair across from Leon, and sat in the chair next to him. "I ended it." Her phone buzzed, and she took it out of her pocket and glanced at it before putting it away.
Leon wasn't positive, but he was pretty sure he saw 'Ada Wong' on the screen. She had been calling him since he left her, but he wouldn't return her calls, and so now she was apparently texting his friend to reach him.
"So…" Helena started. "How are things going with Ada?" She tried to ask casually, but felt it difficult to keep eye contact with Leon.
"Not well." Leon admitted. He wasn't mad at Ada, but he was fed up with her disappearing all the time. Helena, reached for his hand, and squeezed it.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Leon shook his head. "Doesn't matter anymore. Besides…" He looked up at her, smiling. "I have feelings for someone else.
Helena looked up at him, then they stood up. Leon stepped closer to her, and his eyes roamed past her face and down her body. When he looked back up, he saw that Helena was still looking at him. His hands found her waist, and he pulled her close to him. Helena wrapped her arms around his neck, and breathed in his fresh scent. She rested her head on his chest, and sighed.
"This feels right." She breathed, her eyes filling with tears. Leon made her feel safe and comfortable, and needed his love to be completely alive.
