"Coming Home"
It was a midsummer rain...
Walking through a path, I saw this girl. She had long black hair and black-blue
eyes. She greeted me with a smile and ran into my open arms. I held her under the
rain, she opened her eyes and said, "Okaeri nasai, Kenshin." As I opened my eyes
to greet her back, she suddenly disappeared. It was only a dream. A silly dream
to remind me. I wasn't able to sleep after that. When morning came, I decided to
go back to the dojo, my home...yes, it is. Though she may not know, but it is my
home, where I will return to, where my family is. I started my journey on foot and
as I was nearing Tokyo, it was midnight. I stopped to rest on a near-by tree and
woke up early to set off once more. When I reached Tokyo, it was raining, raining
during midsummer...I ran as my feet could and as I reached the Kamiya Dojo, panting,
I saw a young woman staring at me tears in her eyes, though smiling. The woman ran
into my arms. My eyes were open in shock, it's just like my dream, maybe it is, no,
this feels real. "Okaeri, Kenshin." she said. I held her in my arms under the rain
and we both got soaked, but neither cared. "I was so worried about you, Kenshin...
don't make me worry like that again. I thought you'd never come back." she said.
"Gomen nasai, but of course I'd be back, I'll never leave home again." She pulled
away and looked at me directly, then wrapped her arms around me once more. I smiled
and held her closer. There was silence. She spoke again, "C'mon Kenshin! Let's get
out of the rain, we might get sick." She was smiling as she ran to the dojo. I
smiled back as I ran towards home..."Hai, Kaoru-dono!"
