I'm still not sure whether to call these insane ramblings an
actual story. ^_^;; It's 1am, I'm tired and my mind's all hazy, I'm in
FY-mode. And I've got this urge to write something, anything. The solution?
Write whatever the hell comes to mind and hope it at least makes
SOME sense.
This was more a weird stream of conciousness and random thoughts
than a planned-out story. Angsty psuedo-fluff. Strange. OOC.
You've been warned. ;P
[Fushigi Yuugi and its characters belong to Watase Yuu. I'm just borrowing
the characters. This story hints at shounen ai and twincest, you know the
drill. Don't like, don't read.]
"So are you gonna come drinkin with us, or just sit here all night
watching 'Seinfeld' reruns?
"Ya have to ask? 'Sides, I'm underage."
"See ya later then." He put his arm around the violet-haired man, and they
left. The picture of perfect romance.
"Damn Hotohori and Nuriko, being so in love. It's worse than Tamahome and
Miaka!" As he spoke the name, tears stung his eyes. "You said you weren't
gonna cry over her anymore, Amiboshi..."
So much for that promise. Tears spilled over faster than he could bury his
face in his hands. Damn it!
"I'm so friggin out of character tonight it's not funny," he choked. "I'm
so pathetic...a pathetic flute-boy who can't get over a girl destined for
another!"
Amiboshi shoved the remote out of the way and buried his face in the
pillow. "I'm so lonely." Even Suboshi wasn't there-he'd gone out for
coffee with Soi and Yui. They were discussing the girls' relationship and
Suboshi's mixed feelings once and for all.
"Maybe I should've come to the video store with Miaka and Tamahome...
except they don't know I'm as broken up as I am!" Why did EVERYONE have to
be out tonight?!
"I'm tired of being alone!" he sobbed loudly.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Turns out not everyone else had gone to the bar.
"Amiboshi-kun?"
"Come in, Mitsukake-san," Amiboshi said almost automatically. He couldn't
bring himself to play the Tasuki card and tell someone to leave him the
hell alone. Especially the kindly healer.
Mitsukake slowly opened the door and walked in, then sighed as he stared
at the crumpled form of Amiboshi.
"What's wrong?" he asked, placing a gentle hand on Amiboshi's back.
"I'm tired of being alone." His voice was muffled against the pillow.
"Is this about Miaka again?"
"Am I being that obvious?"
"Well, you and your brother are on good terms lately."
"I'm so pathetic." Mitsukake sighed as his hand contined to stroke the
young man's back softly.
"No, you're just young and in love...it does hurt." His eyes closed as he
remembered what it was like. He missed her so much...
"In love with a woman who HAS a boyfriend!" Amiboshi curled up against the
pillow and sobbed even harder. Mitsukake sat down next to him and sighed
softly.
"You can't help who you love, Amiboshi-kun."
"It hurts."
"I know."
"Why does it hurt so much, Mitsukake-san?"
"Love just does. There's no explanation or reason why...it just hurts."
"Otouto was right. Unrequited love is a bitch." Amiboshi mentally kicked
himself. 'You moron! You don't curse, what the hell is wrong with you
tonight? GAH! See, you are out of character!' "Gomen nasai!"
"For what? For being in pain?" Amiboshi pulled himself up slightly and
leaned against the older man.
"Can you?"
"Can I what?"
"Heal me...even in this...modern world we still kinda have our powers,
right?" Mitsukake smiled sadly.
"Even I cannot mend an aching heart, Amiboshi-kun," he said, wrapping his
arm around the boy's shoulders. Amiboshi felt slightly comforted by the
gesture.
"I figured...I'm sorry, Mitsukake-san, I...you have better things to be
doing than listening to me whine," he sniffled.
"Like watch Miaka beat Hotohori at a game of pool?"
"...Even that's more worthwhile than listening to some 15-year-old angst."
"I'd rather comfort a lonely young man in his hour of need than watch
Miaka and Hotohori play 4 games of pool in a row," Mitsukake hugged
Amiboshi gently. Amiboshi smiled a little through his tears.
"Thanks...Mitsukake-san," he said quietly, nestling into the embrace more.
"Don't mention it," Mitsukake whispered. Truth was, he'd been lonely
himself, thinking about Shouka again. 'I miss you...' He prayed that when
Amiboshi finally met his true love, he'd never lose her as tragically as
he'd lost his.
~an hour later~
Suboshi walked into his and Amiboshi's bedroom, sighing. While he felt
better after the talk with Soi and Yui, it still hurt. 'You never forget
your first love,' he thought.
Just then, he noticed his brother-asleep in the arms of Mitsukake!
"Aniki?!"
Amiboshi awoke with a start. "Ah! H-Hi, otouto..."
"...I should've just stayed home! Aniki, I am so sorry, I...I didn't know
you were this upset!" Suboshi sighed as he saw the tear stains on his
brother's cheeks.
Mistukake smiled. "Suboshi-kun...this isn't what it looks like," he said,
a bit jokingly.
"I know...was it Miaka again?" They both nodded.
"So...I'm not the only one with love issues. I thought that discussing it
with them would help...but now I'm more heartbroken than ever, dammit!"
Suboshi cried. Mistukake smiles.
"Come here...looks like I've turned from healer to therapist in one night."
Suboshi settled down, and the discussion of love lost and love never had
began once more...
~3 hours later~
Amiboshi sighed, nestling closer to Suboshi in their bed. It'd take awhile
to really get over Miaka, but at least he wasn't as alone as he thought.
"Aniki?"
"Yeah?"
"Forgive me for assuming things, but...is there..."
"Hmm?"
"Is there something...between you and Mitsukake-san?"
"Suboshi!" Amiboshi whispered. "Now why would you assume that?"
"I dunno. You were all sparkly-eyed looking at him before."
"He's a wonderful man! He listened to me angst and let me cry on his
shoulder for an hour..."
"All right."
"Why? You jealous?"
"Aniki!"
"Come on, otouto...you're not comfy with the idea of someone else
snuggling with me, are ya?"
"Amiboshi..."
"I'm teasing!"
"Go to sleep, aniki." Suboshi wrapped his arms snugly around his brother
and closed his eyes.
"Night, otouto," Amiboshi whispered, returning the embrace.
The jealousy issue crossed their minds once more, but they fell asleep
before it caused more angst.
~End~
As weird as this one is, I actually kinda like it. Yeah, I broke
the 4th wall by having Amiboshi say he's acting OOC, but at 1am it's not
like I was paying attention. ;P
