Prologue: Inexplicable Anticipation

It was a sunny Spring morning and a warm breeze drifted in through the screens of the sun room to a large mansion. The breeze blew a few fiery locks of hair out of place as the four year old who wore them stared out the window.

A house elf quietly left the room after placing a cup of hot chocolate on the table beside the couch.

Roselyn Evans walked into the sun room and, spotting her youngest daughter on the couch, smiled brightly, "Good morning Flower, you're up awful early."

Six year old Lily Evans looked up at her mothers greeting, "I couldn' sleep..."

"Oh...?" Mrs. Evans walked over to the couch and sat down gracefully beside the younger version of herself. "bad dreams little one?" She asked, gently smoothing back the four year old fiery locks. Comparing the two one wouldn't be able to find a difference between them, Lily was quite nearly and exact replica of her mother. Both had long flaming locks, a pale complexion, heart-shaped faces, long slender figure (although Lily's height wasn't quite as evident at the age of four and she was no where near as 'mature',) and what stood out the most was that both had stunningly beautiful eyes. They were like pools of emeralds, alight with the joys of life.

The six year old shook her head, "No, I had very nice dreams... But I can't remember what they were about..." She bit her lower lip as she tried to remember, "All I remember is that this really nice... and powwa-ful... lady wa there... But I neva sa what she look like... an I feel like... some one... like she is.. comin... is someone comin' mama?"

Mrs. Evans looked down into her daughters emerald eyes in consternation, "Well... yes... as a matter of fact, there is a rather powerful and important lady visiting us tonight... She's been a friend of our family for a long time... and I've always found her to be very kind hearted, although she can be intimidating when she wants to be..."

"Is she a witch lady like you?" Lily inquired, looking up at her with wide, innocent eyes.

Mrs. Evans smiled, "Yes, she is a witch, but she is quite a bit more powerful than I or anyone else I know of."

"Then maybe she the lady from my dream?!"

"Perhaps. In any case she won't be arriving until this evening... and you should go take a bath... I have it already for you upstairs, strawberry scented bubbles and all."

"O K!" Lily smiled before giving her mother a hug and jumping off the couch. Halfway to the door she stopped and turned around, "Mama?"

"Yes Flower?" Mrs. Evans replied.

"Wa is she call?"

She smiled, "She is known as Lady Serenity, she is both your godmother, and my own."

"Oh." Lily frowned, "Wa's a godmadder?"

Mrs. Evans laughed, "Your godmother is sort of like another mother, she's the one you can turn to for wisdom whenever you don't want to talk to me."

"Oh." Lily looked even more confused, "But you my mama.... why would I no wanna talk to you?"

Mrs. Evans smiled, "You may understand in a few years dear."

"Oh... O K! Bye Mama!" Lily smiled brightly and spun around, skipping out into the hallway in the direction of the staircase, all the while humming merrily.

Rose Evans sighed, "So... perhaps Lily *does* have the potential to be a Wild Mage... but then again Sere would be the one who'd no best.... I guess we'll see tonight."

And with that she rose from the couch and, after collecting the untouched cup of cocoa, headed for the breakfast room just as the mansion began to come to life with a number of house elves running about to start the day.
