Disclaimer: I do not own this song.  Or the characters. So ha.

I downloaded a CCS music video and the song was just SO great, I just had to use! I’m not sure I got all the lyrics right because I couldn’t find them ANYWHERE!  But never mind.

That’s what girls do.

You asked me why I changed the colour of my hair

Yeah

Hermione sat with Ginny, Parvati, Lavender, Katie, Alicia and Angelina in the otherwise empty common room.  All of them looked thoroughly miserable.  Parvati broke the silence

“You go first Angelina.  What did Fred do now?”  Angelina sighed, rubbing her head, which had a hat on it.

“He and George changed my shampoo for hair dye.  I managed to get rid of the green but the other side is still pink.”

She pulled off the hat to reveal her normally dark brown hair with fluorescent pink highlights running through it.

You asked why’d I see you buying a new pair of shoes?

To wear

Alicia finished giggling at her friends hair and said

“Well, George was much worse!  It was my birthday last week and he bought me some of those socks that scream when they get smelly.  Then in the middle of class he poured a potion in to make my feet smell.  They were worse than a howler!”

Angelina stared at her

“Oh! Alicia, I thought they were properly going off!”  Alicia attacked her friend who ducked out of the way. Ginny laughed at her.

You seem to ask me why I gotta a lot of things

It’s just a chick thing

Parvati watched the two girls wrestling and sighed

“If only it were that simple. I caught Dean chatting Padma up.  He says he though it was me but…” she shook her head.  Silence ruled the common room.  Lavender put an arm through her best friends.

“You now Parvati it is hard to tell the difference between you two.”

“She was wearing a nametag.”  Parvati said flatly.

“Oh.”

You ought to let it go

Not try to understand when you don’t have a clue

Ginny sighed loudly

“At least the people you like notice you’re alive.”

“Oh Ginny. Harry knows you exist.”  Katie said comfortingly.  Ginny smiled sheepishly

“He’s to busy chasing after Cho to notice his best friends sister.”

“Look, Ginny, why don’t you tell Harry you like him?”  Katie said. Ginny stared at her in shock

“Oh no! I couldn’t do that! Look what happened last time!”

“Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t really think a singing troll is the way to confess your everlasting love.”  Alicia said.

Ginny blushed.

“Come on girls! It could be worse. Look at Lee and Katie!” Angelina said. Katie stared at her.

“What are you talking about? Lee and I are in a very happy relationship!”

“Fine. Where is he now?” Angelina.  Katie turned red.

“With Fred and George…”

“Where?”

“Spying on the Slytherin Quidditch team.”

“Thus proving that men prefer Quidditch to women.”  Alicia said triumphantly.  They all sat in silence

You asked me why I gotta play it so hard to get?

Yeah

“Why do they do it?” Katie asked finally.

“What?”

“The way they just run off together, and are too manly to admit they’re in a happy relationship?”

“Well… that’s what guys do I guess.”  Angelina sighed.

You asked me why do I play it cool just to make you sweat?

Yeah

Fred, George, Lee, Harry and Ron all sat in the Quidditch stands. The Slytherins had long left.

“Girls… they’re mad aren’t they?” Harry said.  Fred looked at him.

“You don’t even have a girlfriend!”

“Yeah… but…”

“Harry’s got a crush!” Lee sang.  Harry hit him over the back of the head.  Fred sighed

“Angelina’s been at me again.  She asked me today if I love her more than Quidditch.”

“Why do they do that?” George groaned

“Make you chose between the two most important things in our lives.” Lee said resignedly.

You want some kind of explanation I can give?

It just a chick thing

Suddenly Alicia picked up slightly

“You know girls.  We’re getting off easy.”

“How d’you mean?” Ginny said, thinking that if this was easy, she felt great sympathy for the girl who was getting the hard.

“Well… at least we are admitting we like certain boys.  Check out Hermione!” Hermione’s bushy head snapped up

“What?”

“We all know who you like.”

“If you mean Viktor-”

“I don’t.”

That you’re messing with

For me it’s lacking like when it’s not getting through to you

“Look at Ron!” George said happily.  Ron glared at him.

“What?”

“Well you won’t even admit that you like Hermione.”

“I don’t!”

“First Denial, then anger.” George whispered to Harry.  Ron glared at him again

“I do not like Hermione!” He half-shouted

“Anger.” George confirmed.

Ron was turning an ever so pretty shade of purple by this time.

“Oh please! Ron does not fancy me! I do to fancy him!” Hermione protested.  Ginny sighed

“Hermione?”

“What?”

“You’re wearing his socks.” Hermione glanced down at the maroon socks and turned the same colour.

“I ran out of socks! No big deal.”

“How do you explain the fact that you’ve got his favourite quill in your bag?”

“He forgot his bag in class and didn’t want to lose his quill so I put it in my bag.”

“Why didn’t he ask Harry?”

“His bag was full.”  Hermione finished lamely.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

What a day

Ron sighed

“I’m not dating Hermione, nor am I ever likely to.”

“Ah, but we don’t want to know that. We want to know if you want to!”  Fred said. (Hehehehe rhymes)

Ron rubbed his hair and shrugged

“I don’t know.”

“Which means yes.” Harry implied.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Has it done much good?

“It does not mean yes!” Hermione said, irritated.  Angelina raised an eyebrow

“It’s a simple question!”

“Is not.  It’s like asking Neville the main ingredients of a confundus potion.”

“What do you mean?” Asked Ginny confusedly

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

To you it’s confusing

“I mean it’s completely uncertain on the answer.  I don’t know pretty much covers it.” Ron explained as Lee frowned.  George sighed.

“Still… women are pretty confusing.”

“Yeah.”

“They expect you to be able to read their minds!”

“And it’s just completely out of our reach!”

To me it’s nothing new

That’s what girls do

The girls sat in silence.  Hermione still red, asked

“Why are boys so…”

“Male!” Alicia said.  They laughed.  Ginny thought about it then said

“I suppose they need us.”

“How do you mean?”  George asked Lee.  He shrugged

“Well… without us around they’d have no fun, would they?”

“Yeah! They need us!” Harry said.

“I suppose.” Ron said sulkily.  George elbowed him

“Cheer up mate.”

“Bugger off.”

“Fine be! Be that way!”

“Hermione, come on! We were only joking!”

“Ha ha.”

“Hermione! Cheer up.”

“Why?”

“It’s not that bad!”

“And without us men would be completely lost, wouldn’t they?”

“Yes! They’re hopeless!”

“Look mate. The female sex is one that shall never be unravelled. Some things should just be left undiscovered.”

“Fred’s right.”  Harry agreed.  Ron nodded finally

“Yeah but why do they do this to us?”

They all exchanged glances

That’s what girls do

“Well Ron.  We all know the answer to that!” Fred replied.

Girls…

“That’s what Girls do!” They all said in harmony.  They glanced at each other and started laughing.  Ron thought to himself.

‘That’s what girls do…’

You asked me why I changed the colour of my hair.
