I noticed that a lot of the stories have this pairing. Aren't they cousins?

Yes they are cousins in the show. The whole reason for the pairing is the way they act around each other and the distinct lack of alternative pairings. Ben and Gwen are just about the only two who could be with each other in the original series and so they became the main pairing. What made the pairing for many are the occasional scenes that would make the two seem more than just relatives. The dancing scene in "Big Fat Alien Wedding" would be a good example of them being closer than just relatives. Those that like this pairing are usually in two groups. Those that will only like this if somehow the two turn out to not be related or some plot related event should cause the blood relation to not be there anymore (body changes), and those that just don't care. The pairing can be both supported and denounced so it's all a matter of what the fan feels like feeling for the pairing. The two do have their moments together so if you like it or not it just comes down to what you feel comfortable supporting. lol sorry if this was more than you wanted.

I don't get why people find the pairing gross. I mean they're just cousins. It's not like they're brother/sister.

Personally I like the pairing. The fact of the matter is that this is still a cartoon and it is fictional. They two make a cute pairing and I do enjoy them as a pairing. Like I stated earlier they do have their moments and I liked seeing those moments. The way they treat each other isn't at the brother/sister level and after that point there is no real cousin level of relations. I mean I could care less about any of my cousins and that's because I just dislike them as people. Ben and Gwen seem to enjoy each other and there is obviously something there. They treat each other neutrally as just another person so they can find they like each other. People find the pairing gross because they associate it with the whole deep rednecks who have had generations of inter family marriages or the royal families who after many generations of the intermarrying began to show genetic disorders. In psychology it's a type of association in which a person will associate a related event with the most comparable example. That is to say that when other"s think or hear about two cousins together they think of the first and main examples of such, that being the royal families and the hillbillies, so they think it disgusting and doomed to fail as the previously mentioned two did. Just keep in mind that this is a cartoon and to lighten up. Sorry if I went overboard again.

You people are right they should pair up what if they're cousins you don't even have the same blood only 1/2 or 1/3 is the same as ben. Marrying your cousin is not gross it doesn't mean anything. You would rather marry a stranger like Kai Green and plus Kai didn't even like him in the first place. Like in the epBack with a Vengeance which cousin would risk their life to save a cousin Gwen calls "dweeb", "freak", and "doofus". And which cousin is like ben give away the omnitrix to save gwen when the watch holds sacred power! That clearly states Ben likes Gwen and Gwen likes Ben! Another evidence in the ep Benwolf why did Gwen kept rubbing ben's crush in his face because she's jelous! I also know why gwen calls ben names because to not show ben she likes him! Same thing to Ben too!
