Sometime after the failed wedding Ranma is getting sick of his current life style to the point where it is making him want to vomit. Meen while nabiki is also getting sick of different things in her life as well. People are becomming less gullable and are finally starting to learn. not to mention people are betting less because ranma is getting better. On top of that her under ground network has split n to leaving her unable to operate in her normal fasion.

One night while comming home late thanks to a trip by sweet angry akane he sees a light on in the kichen desides to see why kasumi is up so late. Walking in he find that it is not kasumi but nabiki drinking her fathers saki(shes not drunk or anything) and thinking about her options.

Ranma having had a bad day decides to do something he wouldnt do normally and actually takes up nabiki's half joking offer to join her. She finds out that ranma can indeed hold his liquer better then she thought and questions him on this and asks why he got so drunk in the romeo and jullet play. Ranma mentions that the only reason he got so drunk was because it was almost pure alchol and that he was forced to chug it down. From here they start comparing problems and complaining to and about each other. Tell the other there problems and what they hate about the other.

Slowly as they get to know each other it becomes a routine untill one night they finally start talking about there biggest problems. Ranma and his strangeness honor entalgments, and nabiki and her own brand of strangeness that happens around tendo's and the depts it and her father cause. On that same night nabiki shares her dreams of owning her own business and doing things her way, while ranma admits he only likes the strangness in that it makes him stronger and lets him put to use what he knows but hates that it ruin's his life. All he wants to do is to grow stronger in the art while removing his weaknesses.

Later on another night while sitting in silence and just enjoying having company ranma asks out of the blue why nabiki does just start her own business. Nabiki explains how it is not that simple and that there are already business's that she can think of so why bother using hers when there are already established business's with greater serveces then one just starting. Then ranma fate happens...or rather ranma's foot in the mouth does as he suggests nabiki open a business that deals with strangeness that happens in peoples lives, Things that others dont beleive or laugh off.

This sets nabiki's (only slightly drunk) mind churning and after throwing ideas about between they come up with the 'Tendo-Saotome Psychic Research Center' a business that handles odd events that happen and also functions as a semi private investigator. With nabiki's knowledge of the common and science and ranma's knowledge of the super natural and spiritual with the goal of learning and teaching the other what they are good at. Calling it a night they shelve there idea as a nice day dream and go to bed.

after 1 and 1/2 months how ever there friendship grows and the stress lessons thanks to both of them having someone to talk to. how ever one night because of one of akane's attempts to cook that went more wrong then normal they cant use the kitchen and deside to find a nice bar to go to. There is a problem though in that ranma's mother walking buy with a drunk genma while dragging him home happens to see someone like her son thought the window. Upon investigating she see's its ranma. She is about to go in and scold him when nabiki returns from the restroom and they move to a table in a darker corner so they are not seen. Seeing this ranmas mother returns to her house with with a silly smile on her face and a drunkenly rambling genma going on about being unfaithful.

The next day when they return home and events conspire to bring ranma's fiancee's and rivals in normal fasion when his mother asks him how his date with nabiki went with genma joining in with his normal rants. Things quickly spiral out of control and end up as vicious as the failed wedding day. Nabiki is still left mostly alone as they rivals and fiancee end up fighting it out untill akane get angry at nabiki and starts demanding answers.

And then things get even worse (ranma's foot in the mouth disorder teleports and inserts itself into nabiki's mouth) causing her to say something or something's that cause ranma's fiancee's to actually attack her a non combatant. unable to correct herself in time ranma rush's to defend her and makes it look like what nabiki said was true and things get even more wild. After everthing is said and kasumi actually ends up with a broken arm because of some flying debris.

Although kasumi nor tofu (having him return can be completely optional) blame ranma or nabiki others do and words and actions end up going out of control as things are said and done that shouldnt have and nokoda saying she saying she has no child and ends evrything involving the engagements once and for all (the reason is ranma actually stood up to her). This results in ranma leaving and nabiki unable to taking it anymore leaving an hour later. Nabiki because of there normal talks finds ranma and they go to a bar and and start venting to each other.

By doing this they are able to help each other and nabiki is able to use what she knows to get ranma as a head of a completely new and different soatome clan and registered with the government so he doesnt become ronin. Working together they are able to rise above this mess and actually start there shared dream of the 'Tendo-Saotome Psychic Research Center'.

Of course this is only the begining as they finally find a small place for there 5 room office place (small kitchen,small bathroom,main greeting/lobbie area, shared office with 2 desks and shelves,and 1 room to sleep in with a screen dividing it and 2 beds). After a week they finally get there first case, A 14 year old boy who says his friends house is haunted. Not beliving him and the fact that he cant afford the high price (as nabiki spent most of her saved up money on there office/place and scientificial equipment) they quickly shoo him away. How every they hard shocked when he returns 3 days later with odd bruises desperetly asking for help because his friend is now acting strange and claming he was attacked by the ghost. Nabiki about to write it off as abuse and call the cops while being angry at the abusive parents is stopped by ranma. what ranma has discovered while using techniques learned from tofu is that the boys ki is actually damaged in the area's where the brusing is and will heal very slowly. After discovering this they conclude that perhaps he was telling the truth and deside to start there first real case.

After this its basicly case by case with time inbetween as they learn and grow. ranma teaching nabiki and nabiki teaching ranma as they grow closer. They to also change as they are exposed to horrors. Ranma becomes a little more like nabiki in that he becomes slightly cold and nabiki becomes more like ranma in that she starts to learn to defend herself. As word spreads more cases come while they avoid high profile cases that may draw press & bad attention or doing it secretly in the shadows. Eventually they becomes equils in mind and body and continue to improve.

This is shown in that a case that may have given them trouble in the begining its easy to manage now while harder or more involved cases come there way, with an occasional for pi work made easy with the forbidden techniques and nabiki's equipment. Although nabiki should eventually gain ki usages and senses she would still like to also use her scientific equipment for study and documentaion in there private files.

End of idea

I would really love to see a story like this written and fleshed out and added to. About how ranma and nabiki eventually become partners in everything and also grow and change. About how some of the horrors they experiance force them to grow up and perhaps become a little cold to others. About how ranma with nabiki's help conquers the nekoken at least. and how ranma can actually start using they curse as a benifit.

I can also see ranma's ki control and power grow as he faces super natual odd and how that would also protect him and to a limited extent(untill she becomes his equal) nabiki. It doesnt have to all have to be serious with a few easy and or humorus cases thrown in (for instance a possesed child that may thing ranma-chan is his/her mother). Or perhaps solving a case easily that another paranormal team just using psychics and mediums could not and having them be flabbergasted.

Of course this doesnt meen that ranma and nabiki will do everything themself as i can see them teaming up with different people such as Priest or demon hunters or shrine maidens each with there own specialties that they would call on for help from time to time.

Im sorry as i know this is quite long and one i started typing it just kept building and idea's kept pouring in. The matchup of course would be ranma/nabiki and as i thought of how to get them together i thought 'Why not run a business' and then 'what type of business' and then 'how do i get them to that point where they can grow' and it just spiraled out from there. The main inspiration for the business comes from its something that i think ranma and nabiki would do if they did start a business, the other inspiration comes from the anime 'Ghost Hunt'. I would really love to have this long winded idea come to life and fleshed out even if you have to change some things and or leave others out.

This idea is free for anyone to use and if someone says they like it and use it feel free to still write your own version. This idea struck me and i would love to see it come to life.
