Well, according to Wikipedia... the Necronomicon is only held in five institudes... but there are many copies also kept in private collections...

Not too soon after receiving the curse... or just about at anytime within the story for that matter... but it's nice to keep things simple.. so it's not too soon after getting the curse... it might also add some motivation if he gets locked.. otherwise there's nothing really stopping him from going to the Tendos... the easiest way to do that would be some sort of early confrontation with Herb... lock Ranma... maybe even Herb and Genma as well-- or maybe just Ranma, Genma dies... and Herb thinks that Ranma was meant to be his wife or something... depending on how you want the story to go... though, Genma might prove useful later on in the story.. so for the sake of this summary... he's still alive-- but if you want to kill him off, that's your business...

So anyway-- as the look for some sort of cure for the curse... they hear about this book that is rumored to be able to cure any curse... the Necronomicon ex Mortis-- and there is one copy that resides no too far outside of Tokyo, at the Hikawa Shrine.

So, Ranma and Genma go over to Juuban, talk to Rei's grandfather... he tells Ranma that he can't help them. The reason is because the book is a book of evil, and should never be used for any reason. Genma, being Genma, meanwhile finds out that the book is actually in a small shrine just outside the main temple down a path, and while Ranma is speaking with the head priest.. Genma puts it upon himself to get the book.

There would be a brief parelle scene with Army of Darkness... where Genma tries to get the right book... but after not bother to recite any words before hand... accidentally summons the evil legions of the undead...

So.. Because of Genma's Stupidity™, Ranma becomes indentured to hold back the Army of Darkness™ from retreiving the Necronomicon.

In Sailor Moon timetable... this would be before Rei joins up... so she would also have to help him too...

Rei is required to train Ranma in spiritual abaility, while Ranma is required to train her on her physical abaility.

hilarity ensues...

Anyway... after a couple of her youma's get eaten by a couple of pit deamons... she decides to send someone out to investigate... enter Prince Endymion, the brainwashed Tuxsedo Mask-- she decides to send him on this assignment because she worries that he might break free from her the more he stays in contact with Sailor Moon... and he goes to the Hikawa Shrine because it is the scene of most of the monster attacks...

He is able to get his hands on the Necronomicon in the first place because Rei's grandfather finally breaks the lock... and somehow convinces him to take Rei out on the town, because she is too serious all the time, and they didn't think that it would be in any danger because the demons don't attact while it's daylight.

So Endymion gets his hands on the Necronomicon (before Ranma gets his chance at being cured of his Jusenkyo curse too)-- and quickly becomes corrupted by it's evil.

He rebels against Beryl and they have a huge fight... but Endymion gets the better of the Beryl... he raises his blood drenched sword to the Generals, "The Queen is dead... All hail the King." or something corny like that.

Anyway.. it's just an idea that's been floating around in my head for a couple of days... probably needs a little work-- but I'm not going to do anything with this idea. So it's up for grabs to anyone who would want it.
