Wild FantasySparda. I mean, he did so much more than 300 Dantes put together. Sparda was the one who left the weapons amok too so give him some credit!~Fran P.S.: Ahmed Hasan, you spelled "Sapp"! XD XD lol XD XD |

Sin OanD & V, hands down. Mostly due to Dante though. No one agree's? lesse, what has Sparda done? Defeated Mundus? Dante: Check. Defeated Argosax? Dante: Check. Closed the door to the Demon world? Dante: Check. Got laid? Dante: Ch- wait! What does that have to do with anything? Want more? Well, Sparda fought and defeated the gatekeepers in Temennigru. Dante fought and KILLED the gatekeepers in Temennigru (Vergil helped with Beowolf but he is on Dante's side in a father vs sons match remember?) When faced with Arkham wielding Sparda's powers, D & V pawned him. And last but certainly not least, Sparda is DEAD. KIA. RIP. DECEASED. PUSHING UP DAISIES. Dante however is very much alive. Vergil probably is as well. To paraphrase the immortal words of Johnny Cage, "We're standing, he's not. What more do you want?" |

Wild Fantasy And last but certainly not least, Sparda is DEAD. KIA. RIP. DECEASED. PUSHING UP DAISIES.You need to consider what Sparda did during his 2000 years of life. ~Fran |

Sin OanYou need to consider what Sparda did during his 2000 years of life. Do tell. |
 |
Wild FantasyDo tell.I don't know, seeing as I have never been near the game. But I can say this. Sparda was heralded mankind's savior for all the things he has done for them. All that helping in around a 2000 year period must count for something. :) I'm not saying that Dante and Vergil didn't do anything worthwhile, cuz they did. ~Fran |

Sin OanAnd I'm not saying that Sparda didn't do anything worthwhile either, cuz he did. But, what I am saying is he hasn't done anything that his sons haven't already done themselves. Dante has largely followed in his father’s footsteps, and as I pointed out, in some cases he has surpassed his father. Sparda only managed to seal away the gatekeepers of Temenigru, but Dante kills them all - again, except for Beowulf. Dante manages to blind him just as, presumably, Sparda did before. But here it is Vergil who surpasses his father by slicing Beowulf up into chunks of salsa in about one second flat, something neither Dante nor Sparda managed. Also, the intro for DMC1 states that in those intervening 2000 years, Sparda QUIETLY reigned. That, to me, says he did damn all. I mean when you think about it, he had already defeated the King of Hell and sealed away the demons, what left was there for him to protect humanity against? We can speculate, but that is all. Sparda is massively overrated. In the end, something managed to kill him (and for someone living over 2000 years you can bet it wasn’t old age). I wouldn’t be surprised if we at some point in a future game have to face the person or creature responsible for offing Sparda, as that would make for one formidable foe. But whilst there is a ton of fanfic detailing Sparda's exploits, actual canon evidence from the games tells us that he did very little beyond beating Mundus and slapping a lock on Temenigru. Personally, I think Dante could beat his father alone (although it would be a close thing). With Vergil, aka I-killed-big-bad-Beowulf-in-one-second-flat-yes-really helping him out? Sparda would get his ** kicked. But that’s just an opinion, and until we actually get to see Sparda himself in action and have a chance to gauge his skill for real, opinion is all we have. Still, my money is on the twins. On their own they are badass. Together they are UBBER badass. |
