pinkforensicsMy notes from last night's season finale of Criminal Minds:- Elle and Morgan talking in the breakroom about the resort. - Elle and Morgan going to Morgan's friend's resort in Jamaica. - Reid's spending the time with his family. - Gideon going to a cabin in the woods, doesn't want any calls. - Hotch is spending time with his wife and baby, doing chores. - We see candid shots of the team: Reid, Hotch, Garcia, Elle. (unsub's) - Morgan showcases his flirting abilities and his many tattoos. - Hotch in a pirate's hat. (Pirates of Penzance) - Gideon cooking. Now that's a show I want to see! Cooking with Jason Gideon... - Garcia and her game. - JJ doesn't have the same vacation time. - We learn about Reid's mom. She's a schizophrenic in a home. - Elle and hew new fling steam it up on the dancefloor. - Hotch met his wife at theatre club in his junior year, joined the theatre club. (Maiden name is Haley Brooks.) - Gideon has a dinner date. - Hotch gets a call from an unknown person. - An anonymous call is made to the hotel, saying that there was a murder in room 19. The police check it out. There's blood everywhere and a man is lying in the hotel bed, dead. They pull a woman out of bed - it's Elle. - The message "all work no play" pops up on all of Garcia's computer screens. - Gideon steams it up. On a monitor, he sees a truck approach, grabs a gun. It's a package delivery, with an envelope that says "save her". Inside the envelope is a 1963 Nellie Fox baseball card. Inside the box, is a human head. - Garcia tells Morgan that the "information highway" is closed because someone has hacked her computer. She is very angry. - Elle's been arrested. She is interrogated until Hotch shows up and provides evidence to support that she did not kill the headless man in her hotel room. - JJ receives a package. Inside is a framed pale clouded yellow butterfly (indigenous to Great Britain) with the words "she has been searched for but never found" above it. - Reid receives a package in Nevada that contains a skeleton key and a message ("She will die unless you save her Dr. Reid. Call Gideon. He knows".) - They're after Robert (can't remember the last name). but...he's the dead man! - They develop and discuss a possible profile. - They connect the things. Gideon loves Fox (went to baseball games as a kid with his father), JJ collected butterflies, etc. - Garcia figures the hacker got into the bureau's database through her personal laptop that was hooked up through the FBI's database. The unsub has all of the personal information on the agents (vacation days, addresses, phone numbers, etc.) - Gideon calls garcia "stupid", she gets worked up. - Everyone is so caught up in their thoughts and own concerns about the unsub knowing their information. Garcia says she's ID'd the hacker; the hacker is Frank Giles. - They go to Giles's listed address and find it empty. In one of the rooms is a body lying on a mattress with a sword in his chest. Painted in blood is a message that reads: "here thy quest..." (there's more, but I can't remember). - They discover a message engraved/written on the sword. One of the words means "medieval" (Reid jabbers on about the word, etc.) They use the sunlight and the sword to point them in the direction of a clue. Morgan tears apart the wallpaper/wall and discovers a jewelry box that plays music. Throughout this whole event, Elle is clearly dissatisfied, saying it's like something from "Indiana Jones". - Gideon says: "The youngest holds the key," and Reid uses the skeleton key he received to open the box. - Inside the box is a lock of blond hair (hair from the girl they're trying to save). Gideon notices a flap; they find a DVD in it. - On the DVD is the unsub (we don't see his face). He says that the only people allowed to participate in the "quest" to save his hostage is "Jason Gideon, Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan, Elle Greenaway, Spencer Reid, Penelope Garcia and Jennifer Jareau." (We see candids of everyone.) - Gideon is upset that the unsub knows of his cabin. He says its the only place he could go to escape everything. Hotch is sympathetic. Gideon asks to be alone. - Haley shows up with the baby and a package that she says a man delivered. - Gideon and Hotch talk to Haley about the man. She says he was a young man with dark hair and that he told her that a girl's life depended on the package. - Inside the package is a note with a series of codes. The unsub said that a book would be required for the quest. Reid says that the three-number codes stand for page, paragraph, word. - They don't know which book the codes are for and have no clue as to where to begin. - The hostage is ID'd as a Rebecca Bryant, who's been missing from Boston for two years (DNA is extracted from the hair). - Gideon orders JJ to call a press conference and to call in a forensic sketch artist. - JJ releases the sketch to the media. We see that the unsub is upset about this. - Hotch checks Haley and the baby into a hotel to keep them safe. - The team tries to put the clues into context. - Hotch catches Elle falling asleep and orders for her to go home and sleep. - "Anderson" drives her home. - Once inside, she puts her bag down and locks the door. She places her gun holster on the coffee table and collapses on the couch. - She hears the his voice, wakes up. The unsub is in front of her with a gun. She tries to talk him out of shooting her. Unsub: I told you. It was one rule. Elle: No. Unsub: One rule! Agent Greenaway... Elle: Stop. Unsub: Do you not consider that holding a press conference is going outside the team for help? Elle: Listen -- Unsub: One rule! Elle: Listen to me. We can talk about this. Unsub: I told you this was important! - Her gun holster is on the coffee table in front of her. She reaches for it (in slo-mo). Black. A gunshot. The end. Clues: - 1963 Nellie Fox baseball card - pale clouded yellow butterfly - skeleton key - head in the box (Frank Giles) - Code - the DVD - jewelry box - sword Can you figure it out? *** First off, I must say that I loved this episode. It provided short glimpses into everyone's vacations, although I learned more in this one episode than I have in most of this first season. We get stellar performances in all corners - everyone portrays their characters perfectly. Now, I absolutely detest cliffhangers. If you do, you'll hate the ending to this episode. I spent half of the night lying in bed, contemplating possibilities as to what happened and what the clues mean. We all have four-and-a-half months to figure it out. On your marks, get set... |
