When it comes Morgan/Garcia paring, why is it that Kevin is a villain? I haven't seen that much of him, but I don't think he he is a bad person. I know we have to have the readers hate the character, so they can see those Morgan/Garcia belong together, but is that really necessary? Since I haven't seen all season three eps, is he really that bad or do you just dislike him because he is with Garcia and not Morgan. I am a die-hard Morgan/Garcia shipper, but I don't think that others are necessarily evil.

In the same way that Haley often became a homicidal psychopath/manipulative witch/uncaring venom-sucker in fics before her divorce from Hotch, and is now portrayed as an angry/uncaring/trying-to-steal-his-son-and-make-Hotch's-life-miserable spinster, fans of ships too-often resort to OOC rewrites of cannon relationships to make their pairings plausible. Kevin Lynch, unfortunately, suffers the same fate.

Personally, I think it's a horribly pathetic cop-out for fic writers to make an evil villain out of a perfectly docile character just so they can push them out of the way, but that's just me. If writers wanted to put a bit more effort into their fics, they'd find a way to put their characters together without resorting to random bouts of OOCness. And I don't think it's necessary to make readers hate one character just so they can accept another character in their place (we don't have to hate Kevin to like Morgan).

But no, Kevin Lynch is not a bad person on the show. At most, his only fault on the show is that he sometimes has trouble understanding what's important to Garcia (flouting their relationship when he knows she could get in trouble for fraternization, not realising how seriously she takes her job, and talking to Rossi against her wishes), but these aren't evil traits.
